Thats fine for you, but do you create digital content for a living? If you do, like me, you will know that the lcoal food store does not share your attitude. They want you to pay for groceries, or you can't eat.LilithSlave said:Any media I had ever created, I would not to ever be a must to buy. I would feel awful and pathetically over-entitled to think that somebody had to pay to enjoy something I made. As well I would feel terrible if my material wasn't shared and "pirated" because that would mean a lack of exposure and interest in my material. If I ever charged for a product, I would never want it to be anything other than optional to buy.

and the marketing ploy worked!Karhukonna said:Is it just me, or does anyone else suddenly feel compelled to actually pay for the game?
I could, but I'm too moral to pirate anyway.ChromaticWolfen said:Well that is different is it not? Well I guess I am off to.......
No, I couldn't do that to him.
Not long after it came out, I went and bout GalCiv II specifically to support a company's decision not to saddle it with DRM.Kiardras said:Funnily enough, its this attitude that makes me happy to pay for a game. Notch obviously values his content over his profit, and because of that attitude, I'd definately pay for it.
I've not actually got minecraft, but if I ever did I'd happily pay for it.
It doesn't work that way because people agree it can't work that way and don't want to change it.Twilight_guy said:No, Fuck you Notch. I will not support a world wherein if you can't afford it then you're encouraged to just take it anyways. That's not how a functional world works.
That depends. It only matters because of limited resources. If you had an unlimited supply of food, would you really care if some people took some of it without giving you anything in return?Twilight_guy said:No, Fuck you Notch. I'm sure there is evidence to back up the arguments relating to piracy having a positive impact on game sales, similar to those generated by steam sales and the humble indie bundles no doubt. However that does not change the simple fact that if one cannot afford something (and lets face it minecraft is a game, not a necessity for life like food, shelter or clean water) one should not have it for free because one wants it. There has been a borrowing culture until recently of people taking what they cannot afford which has had a part to play in current financial diffculties.Twilight_guy said:No, Fuck you Notch. It's his game. He can do whatever the fuck he wants with it.Twilight_guy said:No, Fuck you Notch. I will not support a world wherein if you can't afford it then you're encouraged to just take it anyways. That's not how a functional world works.
