I was a massive fan of Call of Dutys 1, 2, and 4. Those were fantastic titles to me. Modern Warfare 2.. not so much. And with Call of Duty Black Ops on the way, I don't feel strongly about it. Let me explain.

Treyarch was responsible for the weakest titles in the Call of Duty franchise. Call of Duty: Big Red One for the PS2, Call of Duty 3 for current gen consoles and WaW which had fewer issues but wasn't a title that I felt could stand on its own against IW's great titles.

And now with the advent of Black Ops, I am not entirely confident Treyarch can make a decent Call of Duty game without making a hash of it. That is just me, however. Thoughts?

Just go with the Battlefield franchise. They always deliver and have a much better online community.

I was always under the impression that everyone felt Treyarch managed to redeem themselves with World at War.

Well, I guess not everyone.

Meh. CoD is dead to me. If they make something so shiningly perfect it's impossible to ignore, I'll try it, but if they keep going down the road they are heading I won't bother.

Agree. Well, they don't ALWAYS deliver IMO. I enjoyed the older BF games, I don't like the direction the newer went, with smaller maps, less players and not being able to crouch OO. But it seems like they are taking back old territory with BF3, so I'm excited about it =).

They did not =p. Far from it.

I'm amazed at how uninteresting the characters in WaW are, and how so many of the things CoD4 did well WaW borrowed and screwed up. And the amount of times you "almost" die is even more annoying. They tried waaay too hard with WaW me things. It was an OK game, but it doesn't redeem them, far from.

I think WaW was good enough. I'm quite confident in Treyarch, although the campaign will probably be unoriginal as hell.
Also, didn't like MW2 yet liked all the games before it? That's weird. Unless you're talking about the MP.

I prefer Treyarch over IW thats for sure. Also i think i was the only one who liked Big Red One, and i thought WaW was pretty damn good. IMO

I think MW2 was massively over-hyped. The singleplayer isn't as good as you remember it, and the online multiplayer is just irritating. By the looks of it Black Ops will be more of the same. :/

Everyone hates on poor Treyarch, then again, they ARE French. hehe.

But seriously, I thought WAW was a great game, second best WWII game I've played behind Medal of Honour: European Assault.

After seeing the multiplayer trailer I am very confident it's going to be awesome.

Hey, in my opinion, the Nazi Zombie mode was Treyarch's redemption.
COD 3 was one of the worst games I ever played, but zombies are cool.
Right guys? RIGHT??

This. Seriously, this.

Especially Bad Company 2, because the campaign is hilarious and the multiplayer is amazing.

Treyarch just suffer from amnesia and some old form of having an extra chromosone. No point with their games, even Infinity Ward are falling off the band wagon. Battlefield is a good step, single player is tepid but the multiplayer at least has a variety and a nice atmosphere about it

Treyarch should have made a whole game based on zombie hoards when everybody was buzzing off it a few years ago. I never really liked Nazi zombies, but I always thought they could have expanded it into a whole game. Now it looks like they're left picking up Infinity Ward's work.

The only "good" thing about Cod Waw was Nazi Zombies, and I found that to be pretty terrible as well, actually... By the 30th round all you're doing is crouching and holding down the trigger. Literally. Just holding it down. I don't know how it caught on to be so popular. And all that wasted money on map-packs.

But I liked Big Red One, and 3 wasn't nearly as bad as WaW. It was decent.

But no, I don't think Black Ops is going to be good. Pick up Limited Edition Medal of Honor, it comes with a Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Beta. Medal of Honor will last you until that comes out, and looks to be truly a superb game by its own rights. It was made by Dice, after all, and BC2 was fantastic.

You can't crouch in the newer games?, thats madness, what do you do when the all important opportunity of tea bagging arises?.

I've never liked Treyarch myself, or IW for that matter, I can stand IW because the response from the guns has a tactile feel to it that Treyarch just barely got right with CODWaW.

You can't go prone in the MoH beta, but after a while it doesn't become a problem. It just means you don't get people drop-shotting or laying down in dark corners.

WaW is when the series was done for me. I loved CoD4 but WaW was nothing more than CoD4 reskinned with Nazi Zombies being its only saving grace.

Treyarch never really made games that were original. That Quantum of Solace movie game was nothing more than a CoD4 clone with a crappy cover mechanic. Not terrible, but it didn't improve the formula in anyway.

I really have to agree with you. I mean, I could hive a rats ass about campaign, I would care if they were longer then 5 hours, but they aren't. And for every issue they solve in mp, they will add 3. CoD died with CoD 4, which I think I will play until I'm 40.

Um, I don't want to dissapoint you, but Medal of Honor isn't, that..."great"
After having the beta, I think you should just rent it for the Single Player, because that's not being done by Dice 'shivers' urg... God I hate Dice...
