I save very often, and I keep multiple save files. There is very little that is more frustrating than having to start a game completely over because of a corrupt file.

When I remember to. Or when I know I'm about to attempt something that may fail and get me killed.

For me, it greatly depends on the game. If the game has a quicksave feature, or allows you to save from the menu at any time, then I save constantly. If it uses save points, then I save every time I see one, but I won't go out of my way to find a save point unless I'm ready to quit.

There are also a few games that break the mold. The Sims 3, for example, takes approximately a million years to save, so I usually don't bother until I'm ready to quit. If it crashes or whatever, yeah that sucks, but everything is always the same in that game anyway.

By the way, Sex Rex, TGM means Toggle God Mode. It prevents you from dying, and if I'm not mistaken, Malyc is recommending you cheat to finish the games if you get frustrated from dying too much.

If I'm playing Fallout 3 on my PS3, which crashes and freezes often, then I save very often and in two slots. After losing one of my characters, I don't want a repeat.

On games with set save points I save at every one of them just in case I die. But sometimes if a game lets you save whenever I'll forget to save for a while. That's why I wish all games had autosave.

Another case of saving OCD here, if you can save at any time then i save pretty much before i go around every corner incase something unexpected happens or after every mission if there is a only a designated save location.

And i also usually make a few different save in case i want to go back or incase one is corrupted AND i also usually save about three time cos usually while i wait for it to save i go do something else so i always forget if i saved it before i went or whether i was going to save it when i got back so rest assured your not alone in this...

Auto-save or quick save.
I find manually saving through menus incredibly tedious.
Especially if it's slow.

I have to force myself to save, because I have all too often died while the most recent save was 5 hours ago.

Depends on the game. Usually I save at every save point. Except in FFXIII, but that's only because if you lose the game sets you right outside where you got into the battle, and also because he can't go two steps without stumbling on a save point in that game.

I refuse! No cheating shall take place under my roof! Unless it's fun.

It really depends on the game, I have come glitchy games that I save after ever few moments because I can, other games that have so many I skip a bunch. And in some games, like Prince of Persia Sands of Time, I can just play the whole game in one run...portal too.

Save early, save often.

Picked up the habit in the old Sierra days and still do so to this day for any game that does not do good automatic autosaves.

My rule of thumb is that I save:

1.Before every difficult encounter
2.After every difficult encounter.
3.After I buy something from the shop.
4.If I feel like I've spent too much time without something bad happening.

Also I had this happen to me once.

Saving...don't turn off the po-*BLACKOUT!*

I spam the quicksave button all the time. Occasionally even when I'm playing multiplayer and there is no quicksave. Unfortunately, Bad Company 2 does not have a quicksave and I am getting frustrated at it very easily.

Generally, I keep two save files for every game, if it's allowed. The oldest one gets replaced at every new save point I find, assuming the game requires a specific area.

In RPG's, I'm always saving. If the scenery changes, or there's a lull in enemies, I immediately assume shit's about to get serious and save about three times... Then I go round a corner/into the next area and find that my paranoia was completely unfounded. And then when I do get curb-stomped by a Boss, I reload only to find that my last save was two dog-bothering hours ago...

I need to get out of that habit. I'm not doing myself any favours.

Trust me, its immensely satisfying to pwn some random arbitrary monster that keeps killing you, and what better way to do it than when u are impervious to damage, have infinite mana, and the capability to cast a spell that does 500 damage within 100 feet of whatever u are trying to kill?

I save often, but only to the one slot. Unless there's something ridiculously crippling coming I won't use a different save location/slot, since I consider it cheating ;)
