Nudity in Games

See nudity in general doesn't phase me. Male/Female. Doesn't bug me at all. What bugs me is that for example, in GTA 4 there is a male nude scene in the dlc add on. Didn't bug me at all. what bugged me is that if I go to a strip club and the women are censored, then what was the bloody point of the nude scene? Either show both or show none.

We see plenty of violence. Plenty of Gore. But when someone sees boobies, vagaja or the penis people get offended....

What I may ask you is so bad about the human body? Sure we love to see someone's arm get ripped off or their organs drained out. But boobs? OHHHHH NOOOO!!!!!

Pretty much this. There are so many reasons to loathe GTA4, but the whole nipple tape thing? Thats just downright embarrassing. It suggests a level of immaturity to be honest. Like 'oh we have strippers! But we don't want to animate nipples. Don't want those moral high grounders coming down on us. Thats what all the violence is for.'

I think there should be more nudity in everything so long as it makes sense. The sooner we accept nudity as normal the sooner we'll be a little more free.

I don't really care if there is nudity in a game, unless it's there for the expressed purpose of having nudity in the game. The sex scenes in the Witcher series doesn't really bother me, but strip-joints in Duke Nukem do. I mean c'mon... there's an entire level where you have to find condoms, drink beer, slip strippers singles, and grab a dildo for the private dance. It added nothing to the game and was there for the sake of itself. That's the kind of thing that bugs me.

Otherwise, nudity doesn't bug me one bit. It's a natural thing.

I'm glad that we're starting to see it.

I genuinely believe that representing nudity in games shows that the medium is beginning to mature. There have been cases of non-titillating nudity in some more recent games, and I think that soon enough there may even be games that explore properly the place of nudity in culture.

I saw a British indie film recently called Cashback that featured a lot of female nudity, and since it was narrated by an art school student the reasons why the feminine form might be so intriguing were monologued about a fair bit as well. That sort of exploration, where the eroticism of nudity is examined and presented but not exaggerated or made into nothing more than gratification is something that films and books have been doing for some time, but games still have yet to do.

So I'm not phased, but sometimes I do wish the attitude would be a bit more grown up.

I am always amused by how uncomfortable people are about seeing a penis, it just strikes me as silly.

That said, there really is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Nudity, both male and female, is appropriate for artistic integrity. I generally have a problem if it is presented gratuitously, as opposed to being there to add to the tone of the scene.

A good example of nudity in gaming is in games like Amnesia: The Dark Decent. There is a section of the game that takes place in a morgue, and it is full of dead naked bodies. That is completely appropriate because it both makes sense, and is an intrical set piece to set the mood for the gameplay.
Inversely, you have games like Far Cry 3 with random tits, thrown in because guys like tits.

Well i am male and i watch spartacus and there is quite a bit female and male nudity in it and it doesn't bother me, so i don't think male nudity would bother me very much.

Male nudity? Big deal. It's a penis. I have one and I have been know to look at it from time to time. Female nudity? I've seen it enough so that unless I'm actively seeking sexual gratification from it, then I don't care. And I don't seek sexual gratification from videogames. Maybe in the future with Xbox 1440's new motion control, tactile feedback bodysuit.
It's the opposite that bothers me. Artificially covering somebody in a situation where they would obviously be nude just annoys me. It takes me out of it and reminds me that I am watching a cutscene, tv show movie. Who makes love with the linen strategically covering up all the important bits?

Ahem . Yeah i like my fair share of boobies , but most games ( like most films ) stop at tits and ass . Rarely do we see some penis or vagina. So there is more female nudity than male , because of that .

Now as for male nudity ... No thank you . If someones cock came out in a video game , i'd look away ... And i won't lie , i like seeing naked women , so i like female nudity . I'm a pervert like that .

Now we all know men like boobies . But let's say some guy pulls out his penis in a game , would women even like that? I believe they wouldn't .

This is in no way directed to anyone on the thread but it still astounds me that they are controversial subjects. People have genitals, people have sex.

And what really gets me annoyed is how sex and violence seem to be as bad as each other in media. In fact sex is seen as worse!!! A character gets shot a film is a pg, someone gets their boobs out its an 18/R!!! You couldn't get further away from violence than sex, they are complete opposite ends of the spectrum.

Just remove your social bias for a little bit and think how stupid sex/nudity censorship is.

Male nudity!!! OMG WE'LL ALL CATCH THE GAY!!!

Seriously though I can understand the 'safeness' of female nudity but just like ME3 CLOTHED shower scene seeing men STILL wearing clothes when they sure as hell shouldn't be takes away quite a bit during some scenes. I like many don't pursue male nudity but I sure as hell expect it in situations where it SHOULD be there even if it's just a bit of male backside to SHOW he's actually naked?

If a developer wants to add sex that's fine and even progressive in many ways but the MOMENT you cover all the parts required to actually HAVE sex... what was the point?
