Not one to be outdone. Particularly not by "New classic" (pfeh) I myself aquired a copy of RPG maker XP and have created a demo of a game that will be, at a conservative estimate, at least four or five times better than his.

If you don't have the RPGMAKER RTP already (it's required for rpg maker games. You can aquire it here [http://tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng/rtp_download.html]
Note: Game contains foul language.
Oh my. It seems my thread's been ganked.
Decoy hates me, it seems.

The fact that I cannot currently download said RTP means that I must give this game a major demerit, and therefore proclaim Mr. Lassic's product as superior.
If it comes down to an Escapist contest on who can make the best RPG, I hope that somebody uses something open-source and cross-platform. Something like Allegro, possibly.
While this would be a fantastic idea, I don't think I would compete. I'm trying to make a game, not really try to wow the hearts of
Escapists everywhere. Hell, I'm convinced none of you would notice if I just randomly disappeared for several weeks.

Hey, is NewClassic (haha! Back to bolding!) still working on the game?
Any updates whatsoever?
Any hints?
Any love?
Anything?
@Decoy Doctorpus: I shall try your RPG some time, when I'm not lazy atleast.
Still working.
Meatloaf was very sexy and on-the-ball, and I was slow as hell. Given how busy I've been constantly, I haven't hardly done any work. The database and maps have seen a little cleaning, as well as the finalization of the world map. The rest, though, is still up in the air. I'll keep you posted once a Monday, if I can keep to that schedule.

Actually you can add the assets from the rtp to the executable, it just bumps it up in size by 20 megs and isn't worth it until you have a big enough product. Don't worry, you will get to play my opus (and realize how superior it is to Mr Lassic's) eventually.
Frankly, downloading the RTP requires the same space as downloading a copy of the game with the RTP inside, they're just distributed to different folders. Either way works, but mine's more economical for the individuals.

And to Mr. Lassic I would like to request some updates, nothing big, maybe just something like, "I just finished a big section of the game one about a month or so till completion".
I'm working on the database, cleaning out the excess filth from the defaults, adjusting the jobs and skills, and writing preliminary plot scripts for the early, post-prologue characters. It's oddly difficult, given that I have to write for 6 different character types (The three jobs for either gender, all with unique personality, dialog, and quests). But yes, Monday updates.
