Maybe some towns could have rival clans like the Triumvirate of Evil and the Toughie clan, they could have some sort of feud and you could join one or the other offering different quests and what-not.

the towns could be based off of the different forums, like the town based off of the forum games and RP could be like that amusement park in FF7, The off-topic town could possibly be the main town in the game where most stories and events occur, the user review based town could be a place where people compete with essays and stories to decide the social ranking system, a town based on game discussion could be a place where you can accept extra quests and challenges outside of the normal storyline.

you may have already thought of this or things similar to what I described, so disregard if these thoughts if they don't help that much.

Edit: and the store where you buy all your equipment should be called featured content, and the news room could be a place where you could read about your quests and adventures through the eyes of a reporter who like to sensationalize everything you do, even if sometimes thats not a good thing with the local citizens.

I don't know how difficult this would be, but have you considered making this game episodic? I realize that this could be hard seeing as how it's an RPG and you would have to carry over character stats and what not, but if its at all possible I request this because I'm getting very anxious for this game to come out.

You could probably manage that if you used a password system, but it would be really, really complicated.

All I want is for there to be a turtle called Root, because Root would be an awesome name for a turtle.

A password system really wouldn't be necessary; I don't know how this program works but it might be possible to have a feature to export your character as a file and then import him/her into the next episode. But I don't think this is the kind of game that is intended to be episodic, more like either a bunch of completely discontinuous adventuers or one long-running one.

Okay, I'm working on the RPG so far. I have enough preliminary work on the database done to be able to start on the beginnings of the game, which look intimidating as hell now that I'm actually working with them, but a lot of fun. Regardless of that, though, I'm rapidly realizing just how much exhaustive testing I'm going to be doing on the same parts over and over again.

Also, a hearty, good-cheered call to meatloaf231 who's going to be joining me in making this RPG a wonderful experience end-to-end. So, a big round of applause to him for stepping up and helping me with what I expect to become a very tiresome journey.

That being said, help is something I'm in great need of from the looks of things. After making about 5 minutes of gameplay, I've needed to test through new games about... 32 times just to make sure some little thing works, or I didn't make a simple mistake in the event work on the maps. That being tried, I realize even for an intro sequence, I'm going to need testers. Basically, any tester is someone who's willing to exhaust the hell out of every level, every possible path, countless play-throughs, checking incessantly for problems or visible issues, as well as grammar, spelling, and dialog bugs.

On top of that, I will need every tester to be able to write a full report of any findings that differ from what the play experience should be. Also including any personal-taste problems that would arise. These reports will need to be detailed, but brief, and must be done within four days at the latest.

Play testers will receive updated clients each every Sunday at around 6 PM GMT, and will be required to have a report for the play test by 5:59 PM (GMT) on Thursday. Keep in mind, because the code is constantly changing, by the time the game is into it's later stages, you will be going through the entire beginning part of the game over again, as game-saves will not transfer correctly.

Bear in mind this can be a repetitive and exhausting process, but it will enable you to play the game much, much earlier than anyone else. Applications will be open until the first demo is released in early December (Thank you black lincon).

At the time the demo is released, three to five testers will be chosen, and will begin receiving weekly updates on the RPG. I will test to ensure that you are not carrying saves over, and if it's found you are, you will be replaced by another tester applicant, and likely made fun of somewhere in the game.

If you would like to apply to become a tester, you may PM me your application, which must have all of the following:
Application Template said:
Name: Which does not have to be your real one. Just, your preferred nickname. Forum titles are so informal. If I'm going to be speaking with your weekly, I'll need something to call you other than your username. Or, at the very least, a shorter name.
Age: This means nothing except a good frame of reference. I'd like a wide audience to know if my humor appeals on different age levels, but I won't discriminate based on this. Please be honest.
Sex: Not as obvious as one might think, so this is something I'd like to know ahead of time. So I don't get surprised anymore, like I did when I wrongfully assumed Larenxis was a guy for my first month or so of being here.
Writing Example: Pick anything you would like. An RPG you particularly enjoy, a good book, and go over in detail one specific chapter/section you enjoyed. If possible, provide me a link to a demo or snippet so I can compare what I see to what you report. The report should be roughly 3-5 paragraphs long, as detailed and brief as possible in the space allowed.
To anyone who applies, thank you so much in advance. This rivals editing for my book in terms of "Thank you," and is a major favor for me. Hopefully, the game-play will be sufficient that the job doesn't become too tedious for you. I'd do it personally if I wasn't so wrapped up quin-touple checking my events and making sure I get the writing done right.

Thank you all in advance, and expect the demo on-schedule, if not a little bit early.

I would be all over that if my computer could run this little pile of goodness.

All of my elitism fails in the face of the fact that i cannot play or test for this game. My apologies.

Mr Classic... I offer my services as a play tester. I will send my application tomorrow. Also... I can start working on a sequel ( It will be an FPS affair with the possiblity of multiplayer. Sort of like L4D but Escapist centric and involves Trolls and other things.)

It was terrible.

It was far too short.
The gameplay was derivative.
It's PC exclusive? What the fuck man? Plenty of people on this forum don't have PC's.

I give it 1/10 thumbs and I recomend you wait for it to come down in price before you buy.

No. I genuinely hate this game. Can you guess why?
Is is because you weren't in it yet?

Or the lack of owls?

You're Decoy Doctorpus, for all you know someone else's cameo was actually you in disguise and you were really good. So good that your owl was invisible as well.
