Anti-gun president? As far as I know he's not anti-gun, just for some gun control That's a good thing, assault weapons have no place in the hands of private citizens, PERIOD
So true, i checked his website and he is all about letting LAW ABIDING CITIZENS to own guns. On his website he also posted that he not only supports hunting be reconizes it as a very valuable asset to the economy. Also serously you dont need an AK or M16 for personal use, i mean you cant use it for self defense (you shoot someone chances are your gonna hit someone in the house next to you and kill them too) and they are useless for hunting, So Retoru i am drinking to your post *chugs whats left of my Sparks*
The biggest fault in your argument is that common citizens can't own AK47's or M16's or any assault rifle for that matter legally right now as all assault rifles are fully automatic and owning a fully automatic rifle is highly illegal. It results in immediate license revoking with no chance to get it back, a long prison sentence, and/or a huge fine.
First, just so you don't look like a pinhead...there's no such thing as "highly illegal", something is legal or it isn't. If something is not legal, it's illegal, there aren't varying degrees of illegality.
Next, assault weapons are current quite legal in this country. There was an assault weapons ban that was put in place by Clinton, when it came time to renew it Bush chose not to renew it despite the Senate and House both urging him to renew it. AK-47s and M-16s can be set into semi-auto and fully-auto modes, those that are legal have the fully-auto mode disabled. Not that it matters much, you can easily modify a semi-auto weapon into a fully-auto weapon by removing a few pins inside the firing chamber.
