Now, I'm not an objective person here, (I think Obsidian is basically God Incarnate, after all) but the reveal of Obsidian's kickstarter has given me a raging stiffy. Let's look at what makes this awesome:

-Original IP in an industry bereft of them
-Supposedly a combination of Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, and Planescape Torment
-A dream team of RPG developers
-It's made by Obsidian
-Seriously, these guys made KoTOR II, Torment, and Mask of the Betrayer. How can this not interest you?

The goal is pretty damn huge, but considering Planetary Annhiliation just went past double that, I think we can do this, guys. So, what do you think?

Here's the link in case you want to learn more and contribute. Which you should.

What are my thoughts? What do I think about an Obsidian RPG headed by Sawyer, Cain, and Avallone?

That.

Hmm. This may be the first quickstarter I do.
I mean, I know that they'll get it, it's pretty much guaranteed, but it'd be nice to get the bonuses.

It's a hark back the awesome days of RPGs, made by Obsidian. But there really isn't any gameplay footage, all we know is the video they've put out. So neutral until something sways me either way.

My thoughts? something along the lines of rabid frothing, hysterical giggling, and images of Fry going 'Shut up and Take my Money!!"

What do I think?

That pretty much sums up what I think. I've been waiting for them to start their Kickstarter since Mr. Avellone talked about it, around the time Wasteland 2 got financed, so I'm super excited about it. They deserve all the money they can get and I can't wait to see what the stretch goals will be.

Don't forget: "I'm throwing money the the screen, but nothing's happening."

Already backed it. I'm starting at the $65 mark, but may go up to the $250 one.

Well my wallet has just spread open like a cheap... well you can finish the rest, damn right I'm excited! I loved Fallout 1 & 2, and New Vegas was some of the most fun I've had in a RPG, so I look forward to more from Obsidian.

EDIT

Well I'm in for $25 for now but eyeing the bowed version for $65 plus the shipping fee. I may need to call up some people who owe me money to let them know it's time to pay up.

Also my god it's gone up by $25,000 in the time it took me to pledge.

Yeah, I plumped for the $250 option, which is basically all my game-buying money for the rest of the year. Dammit, I wish I was rich. I would love to play a game of Shadowrun with Chris Avellone and Tim Cain.

Maybe without a publisher, they'll finally be able to hire a bug testing department. I wouldn't count on it, though.

No, that's not it. It's hunter2. Well, you wouldn't be able to see it, but at least BloatedGuppy would.

OT: My feelings:

Thank you, I think I'll be in my bunk.

I would've backed this if the kickstarter page had consisted solely of a message stating 'Hi, we're Obsidian and if you pledge us money we will make a game of some sort'.

So yeah, I'm totally down with this.

Hey! That's mine!

As for the topic at hand, I think the captcha says it best for me: more better. So say we all.

Incidentally, I'm in the same boat. In, fact, the very fact that it's on KickStarter implies they are making a game. So it would have been like

Hi, this is Obsidian...
Here, take my money.
But wait, we're doing...
Yes. Money. Here you go.
No, we just want you to know...
OK, here is more money.
Stop! Let us at least tell you...
All right fine, here's my wallt and watch. I'll send some more of my possessions when I'm go back home.
Don't you want to at least...
What more do you want me to give you?! You've already taken everything. HERE IS MY LIVER, YOU BASTARDS! You satisffied? No? Ok, where do I sign for my soul?
...

Well, let's see them blame the publishers on their buggy mess of a game this time.
I hope it's fun though.

Well, frankly, I don't care if it's buggy. I am aware of the guys who are in obsidian and I know theycan and most probably will make a game I will want to play. Bugginess is not a factor in my feelings for them and their games.
