Hard to see what happened. The cop definitely screwed up but I can't tell if he didn't see the guy or what. Most of the video is peoples' backs.

Aside from that, haha 1% bracket (like cops make enough to be in any top 1% of anything). I like that joke, and I like that funny 99% cult.[/disapproving sarcasm]

I like how people are saying they shouldn't protest about unemployment and go back to their jobs.

Mind you, yeah, although these protests are a good way of getting attention and popular support, I don't know what they are going to do with it. On the other hand, better to light one single candle.

Good. Maybe we can get these god damned people back to work where they should be. I'm sick of all the protestors, the riots, the EVERYTHING.

People. Please. For god's sake. Shut up and go back to your work. Your lives. Your families. Quit complaining and do your job.
It's too bad that it's illegal to hire strikebreakers anymore. Maybe the people who want to work could, then.
You people make me sick, lets just let the government do what they want are you serious?
And people like you make me sick. Government/Companies are not evil by virtue of being government/a company.

The Government is made of people. Let me ask you this. What exactly do you think they're doing that's so horrible? Plotting world domination? Trying to turn the US into the Soviet States of America? What?

I want to just assume that you are a troll who is trolling, but on the off chance that you are being serious, the problem here, is that there aren't any jobs. and the very richest people control all the money, and they pay all the politicians off, and there is nothing for the poor to do but get poorer. And some people are getting tired of it, and peacefully protesting it as is their right to do in America.

that's all.

Yeah what a shame we can't hire brutes who follow the higher up commands through violence and brute force when people are trying to make a point, I miss that almost as much as I miss women being practically second class and child labor
(I am, obviously, being sarcastic for those of you who would jump down my throat otherwise)
I don't think you know what a strikebreaker is.

A strikebreaker is someone that a company will hire to replace people who don't want to work, basically. Generally when the people are 'on strike' (Hence the name 'strikebreakers'), but it's pretty much applicable whenever people aren't working/being unproductive.
a strikebreaker is someone willing to work for less money and few benefits than they probably deserve. they could be hoping to win "brownie points" by helping to undermine a strike and win a position of favor with the employer or they could just be desperate and be willing to take what ever crumbs the company is willing to give them.

Not necessarily, but even that is still a different meaning than the first guy seemed to think it had.

I was always taught to stay out of the road. I don't see anything the police officer did wrong, If an idiot wants to purposely be in the road then getting hit is bound to happen. The only thing that makes this incident different is these idiots can cry and moan now that the police are part of the 1% as well as anybody who "opposes" their cause.

I really wouldn't doubt that there are a few crazy people that are attention starved and lawsuit happy to do something as dumb as getting purposely hit by a vehicle. Wouldn't it also be counter intuitive to their cause if this guy makes a ton of money by suing the police and taking money away from an organization that is there to serve and protect the public.

*Note: Yes, I know there are a lot of bad and crooked cops and I personally can't stand a majority of cops but if he gets money out of this it sure as hell isn't going to help the public.

All in all, this is an act of force perpetrated by the law to try and enforce the order they've sworn to protect. 85% of the protests are college students and "Anarchists" who are simply protesting because they can. Neither side is right, so stop painting that black and white picture about this.
Anarchists would do that. However, college students would never be bored enough to say, "I'm so BORED! How about I go out and risk getting arrested or beaten?" I know college students can do stupid things, but fuck, that's a whole new level of dumb that people in college, without the use of alcohol, probably aren't capable of.

Well, I'm in college now, and...yeah. They are. And honestly, it's rather frightening, but...yeah.

Just another piece of police brutality on peacefull protesters fellow Escapists and in my opinion, one of the most disturbing. The title really speaks for itself here.
Let's have a side note here, shall we?

First off, this was staged.

Second off, 'Peaceful' is not the correct word.

The 'occupiers' in NYC at least have been harassing the shit out of local stores, including struggling, family-owned places that are absolutely not within the 1%, screaming at paying customers, screaming at people who are working for a living, screaming and screaming about absolutely nothing at all.

And then they demand food and a place to shit and scream more when the shop owners, who these children have JUST denounced as bastard scumbags, say "NO, PAYING CUSTOMERS ONLY, GET OUT OF MY SHOP."

This is the problem with unfocused protests, THEY HAVE NO FUCKING FOCUS. Half of the kids out there have no idea what they are protesting.

It has already become a uniform, a thing to do to impress the opposite sex.

Why does this seem familiar? Oh yeah. London Riots.

Well, know where this is going...should put the National Guard on speed dial.

I thought what you guys were talking about were called scabs. Strikebreakers are the ones who beat up those on strike while scabs replace the striking workers.

edit: never mind, I just looked it up and they mean the same thing.

@WouldYouKindly

You missed my point, they don't go out with the intention of getting run over, arrested, or beaten. These pseudo-revolutionaries, who have no real idea what they want changed or how they'll change it or even why the current system is a load of digested dinner, will do it because of mob psychology and the desire to belong to something bigger than themselves. They and all their friends are going to go up and protest something because that's what all the cool people do. They see themselves as both freedom fighters and anonymous, masked by virtue of being surrounded by other, liked minded people.

I'm sure there are people who are involved in this who actually know what it is they're complaining about, and some who actually have a reason to do so. Protesting by itself shouldn't be discouraged but encouraged. A person with strong convictions with serious grievances is able to voice his dissension and try to have that acknowledged so effort can be made to remediate the situation. But when it's a stand AGAINST THE MAN then everyone decides to blindly support this "crusade." Basically almost every teenager wants to be Che Guevara, but most only know him off of those ironic dipshit t-shirts. It's ignorance fighting a giant blob of bureaucratic inefficiency, there's not a good outcome either way.

There's a quote that sums this up pretty well, let me find it
Here it is:
"Until you understand that so many people will agree, completely, 100% with a loud, vulgar and assertive individual, not because he is right,
but because he is making a stand against "the Man";to take no critical thought in what they say, but simply to hop on board."

Edit: @Hammatroll I watched that video, my first thought was "But money IS paper...."

However, these cops pretty much sicken me. Besides from this event, they've done so many things that most would of been thrown out of the job for. Pepper spraying aggressors, defending themselves, arresting violent protestors... and for what? These wealthy people who stand on their balcony video recording the protest laughing their butts off with drinks in their hands. Sickens me.
Fix'd. And you're welcome.

It's hard to sympathize with the protestors when 99% (c wut i did thar?) of them are such huge pricks and people keep trying to come up with stories of police brutality where it doesn't exist.

It is terrible but I fucking well agree, the longer this goes on the closer the odds of some dipshit throwing something flaming and turning this into a fucking bloodbath reach 1:1.

We're not really certain what they even want out of this anymore.

They don't seem to grasp New Yorkers' intrinsic ability to ignore unwashed people in the fucking street.

I can imagine that policeman getting sued by every man in the US. He will be discharged for racism, sexism and child abuse, aaaand blowing up an orphanage. Everyone will hate him, the media will follow him around, and he will have to hang himself.

True story.

your missing the point, the paper is supposed to represent something valuable. In the past it was like an I Owe U, where the government owed us a certain amount of gold depending on how many bank notes we owned, but today the only value that comes from the dollar is our faith in it and with the speed that the Federal Reserve is printing it, it almost seems like they're trying to collapse the economy.

Frankly, all these protesters should be mad at the Federal Reserve.
