Wait. What?

Protesting and striking doesn't do anything good?

Why do you think women can vote, that there is minimum wage, a 5 day work week?

Seriously?
Excellent, we managed to selectively miss the part where I specifically mentioned "most of the time". I didn't say everytime. I know that occasionally it acomplishes stuff, but then again, in this day and age there is less and less that striking is possibly going to accomplish.

@Hammartroll

Oh I'm aware, what he's saying is pretty compelling. I agree with it, or most of it. I just was sharing a funny thought I had while watching it :p

I want to just assume that you are a troll who is trolling, but on the off chance that you are being serious, the problem here, is that there aren't any jobs. and the very richest people control all the money, and they pay all the politicians off, and there is nothing for the poor to do but get poorer.

And some people are getting tired of it, and peacefully protesting it as is their right to do in America.
You are clearly in support of the protestors.

How much money have you donated to their cause, to help them pay for their food, hygiene and cleanup?

How much of your time have you given?

Have you done any real research or are you just assuming that all politicians are owned outright by all the rich?

Because my assumption is that not only are you not one of the protestors, but that you also do not live in one of the cities the protests are taking place in.

It is very easy to shake your head and tut-tut at people you don't agree with because you have successfully romanticized a horde of unwashed, starving, unfocused children screaming at anyone who walks past them.

I understand I seem a bit harsh, here, but see, I actually am living with these protestors.

At first, I supported them. What they appeared to be saying made sense. I am also frustrated by all of the same things.

And then they started harassing anyone who walked by, accusing anyone with a job of being a fascist pig and demanding that their bodily functions be taken care of by the very people they have chosen to harass - seriously, you try getting spat on by someone half your age who then turns around and demands you let him shit in your toilet because he could not be bothered to actually properly prepare for the needs of umpteen thousand unwashed idiots hanging around screaming in the fucking street, see how long you continue to support them.

(As for the cops, OH GOD THE COPS ARE BEING THUGS WHAT A FUCKING SHOCK.
This has NEVER happened EVERY SINGLE DAY BEFORE AND SINCE THIS MOMENT IN EVERY FUCKING CITY IN THIS COUNTRY.)

Good. Maybe we can get these god damned people back to work where they should be. I'm sick of all the protestors, the riots, the EVERYTHING.

People. Please. For god's sake. Shut up and go back to your work. Your lives. Your families. Quit complaining and do your job.

the police in my area are bullies, i don't go out on foot any-more i go on my bike because they cant be bothered to stop me then
they've stopped me and searched me 3 times in the past year, as far as i'm aware i have no kind of record for anything

the sheer fact i have to think about this proves there is a problem, its quite sad really.

i think the police force just attracts superior ass-holes, it's not just a regional thing

Fucking idiot. The police are serious. If they tell you to move, you get out of the goddamn way! Otherwise they will run you over! If a cop doesn't do something when people are 'peacefully' protesting, but enough for him to warrent doing something and he doesn't do it, people are never going to take cops seriously. People need to understand that unless their rights are being directly violated, or if the order is extremely unreasonable, you more or less do what the cop says.

Guy's making a right fucking meal of it, like footballers do when they dive and roll around screaming. He saw the cameras and went for it, and came out looking like a bit of a melodramatic pussy.
I have to agree with with the statement above, it looks more like he laid down in front of the vehicle more than anything and didn't make the extra attempt to get out of the way.

One group was in my city today, outside a bank. Nothing stupider than a 45 year old bald dude wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. Fuck me I wish people would realise who that dude actually was.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with cops in any of the cities I lived in.

Maybe it's just you.

Fuck the Police.

What is happening to these protesters is inhumane, regardless of whether or not the guy was faking it, that cop deserves to be fired and thrown in prison.
Nice generalization. I get tired of people who say such things. Trust me, but I think society is better with police officers around. Are there bad ones, heck ya, and more than I like, but that's the same in any industry, and people say they should held in a higher regard. BS. So should teachers, clergy, firemen, politicians, mothers, fathers, little girls with ponytails... There are bad people everywhere. You state that is happen to there protesters is inhumane? What is happenning? When you have that many people in a small space, for long periods of times, accidents happen, bad things happen. They aren't getting water sprayed on them, beaten etc. 99.9% of peaceful protests occur with no incidents. I also recommend watching the videos, and the news articles, too see what's really coming out.

Well lets be fair here...

When you see a moving lump of metal, do you :-

A) Stand in it's way, you are in a protest it's your right to halt the movement of a rapidly moving metal bike of death.

B) Lie on the floor right where the bike is going.

Thats not police brutality thats pedestrian stupidity.

If someone is mind numbingly thick enough to get in the way of a moving vehicle then they deserve it.

Also, check out the cameramen....

"Don't bother helping him lads, get a close up of that look of pain"
Did you even watch the video? Dont bother answering I'll answer for you. NO YOU DIDNT. The video shows no one lying in the road nor the motorcycle moving very fast. The cop did however ride his cycle into someone just enough to move him out of the way but instead it knocked the guy over where the cop then continued to go which pinned the guy's leg under the first tire. Then the cop moved forward again which then pinned the guys leg under the back tire probably on accident but I'm sure you dont have that issue over in england eh? since every time i see a protest over there is gets violent so theres no reason for a cop to ride a motorcycle when their in full roit gear. I hate it when people who have no idea what their talking about feel the need to say something stupid.
Now firmly yank that stick out of your arse. Go on, I can wait. I hate it when stuck up gits feel the need to stick their oar in when people are blatantly not being serious.

No, no I didn't watch the video. I commented to take the piss, have a laugh, crack a giggle ... you get the picture (probably not but i'll carry on regardless).

My piss take of a point still stands though. When there is something heavy that can hurt you moving towards you, you move the fuck out of the way.

Sorry, am I supposed to show sympathy towards some muppet getting his legs stuck under a bike?

And yes, yes our "protests" over here do get violent, our riots more so. We, well I say we but after the London ones i'm not so sure, "most" of us in the UK are used to riots, we have them a lot. The London one was nothing special.

But these "acts of violence" i've seen here today are a joke. First some bloke gets chinned by a cop and plonked on his arse and people are in uproar. Now this crap with a tool getting his legs run over. People yelling about "police brutality".

And no, no I don't know why they are protesting. Then why comment I don't hear you ask ... well thats quite simple my over serious little friend ... because I wanted to mock them, because I found it quite amusing and because that picture made me giggle .... and before you start no not the guy being parked on i'm giggling at the collection of photographers around him snapping those shots off without bothering to check if he's okay. I found that mildly amusing.

Completely unprofessional, heartless, brutal, thug-like behavior on the part of the NYPD here. Running over a person and then parking your fucking moped on him? Yeaahh... every time I see it, I wish I could reach through the screen and smack those fucking "cops."

There is an incredible amount of ignorance in this thread. It makes me really wonder about the American Education system.

...NOT BECAUSE THEIR LAZY
'they're'.

Tell me more about the American education system.

OR DONT WANT TO WORK BUT BECAUSE IT WAS TAKEN FROM THEM FROM A SYSTEM THAT IS FAILING.
Please explain the system and how it is failing.
Please explain how these demonstrations are creating a new system.

There has been a MEDIA BLACKOUT on the subject of these protests the media simply didnt want to cover it so they had to force the media to cover it. That was the day 700 got arrested on the bridge and since then the movement has been growing everywhere in the US.
No, there wasn't. They've been on the news constantly here.
And if there was a media blackout, how did you hear about the 700 arrests?

LOOK AT THE ARAB SPRING REVOLUTIONS.
Those revolutions had one single laser-precise point.
They had leaders who were well organized and kept control of their people.
They had specific points and specific goals that any member of the protests could quote, by rote.

These children have no leaders, no organization and - and this is important - NO POINT TO MAKE AND NO SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT.

They are screaming, very loudly, about how very very unfair life is, but they have NO PLAN FOR A BETTER WAY.
One hundred people polled will tell you these protests are being staged for one hundred different reasons.

This is unfocused, disorganized, disorderly. It is everything the 'Arab Spring Revolutions' was not.
Which is why these demonstrations are not successfully changing anything.

People have lost superannuation payouts and other benefits all because of the failure of US economy. THE WHOLE WORLD HAS BEEN AFFECTED. Every single country has felt its sting the question is not WHY is this happening but WHY it didn't happen sooner.
It didn't happen sooner because the economy didn't fucking suck yet.

I would also like someone to tell me what the protests are about. They say "Down with Wall Street", what does that mean. It's not going anywhere. They aren't going to get jobs protesting. So what are their demands. What do they reasonably want to happen? A Cap on corporate payouts? Why? That doesn't effect you, it's a business, and it's up the shareholder to dicate the salaries of the executives. Welcome to corporate, welcome to capatilsm and the free market. I personlly don't agree with payouts to Bank executives of $50MM, when they off 10000 people. So what did I do, I bought shares and I am able to speak at shareholder conventions. I also think things are slowly changing. It's not going to happen over night. And more executives need to be held accountable, not because of criminal acts, but they shouldn't be paid their big bonus if they have to lay off people.

I'd rather see the people who are accountable to us, the government, not get lifetime benefits.. Where are those protests. We actually are the shareholders of the government. America has some work to do and maybe the protesters are just trying to bring to light certain bad practices, but they aren't very clear.

This is about as fake as Kim Kardashian's ass.

The sooner the NYPD start tossing tear gas into the groups, the sooner this will be over.
Get back to fucking work you "99%".
Wow, nice opinion coming from a teenager... someone who's never had a real job... never experienced the real world... never had to pay taxes or rent... worry about healthcare or paying bills... has only ever sponged off of his parents... and based off of how many posts you've made, spend most of your time on internet forums.

Good perspective. I'm sure you have a lot to tell the world about how we should be living.

From everyone who has actually lived in the real world: get a life. Grow up, get a job, and actually learn how the REAL world works.

Seriously? Nearly 15,000 posts since mid-2009? That's, what, at least 20 posts a day for two years straight? You really do need to get a life.
I guess your hidden spy cameras didn't tell you that I tend to see insulting posts as null.
And I guess it makes me a no life when I spend the majority of my summer (where it's 115F outside) on the Internet aside from helping my ailing grandmother (Whom, I might ad, lived through the Great Depression on an average of five cents a day). I've also been to counselling with my elder brother because of his PTSD from Afghanistan. Spending a great deal of time around these two, have taught me a great deal of things about how bad the world can get.

These OWS people have NO idea how bad it can actually get; and therefore, need to shut their traps and be glad that they live where they live, and not somewhere like North Korea or Saudi Arabia where parts of the population are oppressed or kept poor.

Just because you look at someone's profile for a minute or two, doesn't give you the right to judge them.

So you don't have any problems at all with the guys with cameras all standing around him, snapping away.

Nothing about that scene looks remotely staged to you, with all those guys gathering around the dude, with full impunity, snapping away. Cop just sitting there, looking vaguely uncomfortable, dude is SCREAAAAAAMING his face out, all those guys with cameras.

Snapping away.
