Studies show that most men who claim to be bisexual actually have a clear preference one way or another. So I'm calling bullshit on the number of guys claiming to be bi.

My two cents? Its going to sound kinda homophobic, but I really don't intend to. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Most of us are gamers, and as such we don't exactly do well in the dating field, but by becoming bisexual, we supposedly double our chances at a relationship. At least, I think thats why theres an influx in bisexuals in gaming communities, I just know I'm going to get chewed out for this, but yeah.
I actually agree. I was more attracted to men for a little while before I got a great gf about 8 months back.

I don't think you've much to worry about if you did. You've a gun pointing at us! (Which, is a side note, is one thing I like about the GLBT community: They tend to be very pro-Second Amendment, or at least the ones I've met)

OT: If it's a topic of romance, love, or sexuality, being bi has some bearing.

When dealing with what game you recomend or how you like muffins, it's not really relevent.

Never really thought of it like that to be honest but you're right.
All of my friends here are usually at least somewhat bi and I'm an omni so yeah.
Not really something that crossed my mind though
omnisexual? kinky. but yeah, i, as a matter of fact , am not bisexual- i'm bi-curious! big difference. maybe alot of people who are bisexual are just bicurious- or whatever the equivalent is for gay lads. also: how many people on here are not straight? 10%? 20%? i only ask because on average, around 10% of people are either bicurious, bisexual or just plain 'ol gay. if it's reaching 20%- there may be liars among us!

I don't get why people have to declare their sexual preferences anyway, particularly on a gaming site or other totally unrelated place.

Maybe Bi's are just gays who do not fully accept that they are homosexual, so they take the middle ground.
Seriously..? >_>

Maybe sexuality isn't black or white; you can like both men and women, but prefer one.
If there is an influx of bisexuals, I think it's because more people "evaluate" their sexuality nowadays. Perhaps earlier, a lot of guys liked other guys, but women more, so they say they are straight to avoid any hardship.

Hate to break it to you sweetie, but having a preference for one gender or the other doesn't mean someone's not bisexual:

How else will you know which prostitutes to procure for me when I give you a wink and a smile and hand you my wallet?

I think a lot of bisexual people (a lot, not all) are quite narcissistic about being bi. Of course, it's not something to be ashamed of, but it's not exactly something to be incredibly proud of either. I don't mean that in a homophobic way, but you haven't really accomplished anything by being bisexual. Hope that makes sense.

Maybe it's just a pride thing? I know a fair few 'non-straight' people (lack of a better word, I don't just mean gay/bi) who will make their sexuality a talking point and introduce themselves as such. Or, I don't quite know how to phrase this, but maybe they think it's part of their stereotype. (I'm gay, and I like musicals, I'm a lesbian and I like football, etc.)

I think it's a guarantee there's at least a few people lying about that >.<

As for being bicurious, yeah there are lots of people are and I think that's where the whole "bi" trend comes from. Uncertainty and in need of a label to identify yourself with. Needing placement I guess. You can refer back to the Kinsey scale for all of this though as I firmly agree with it. It's just as difficult finding a 100% straight person as it is a 100% gay person.

But then you have the people who really don't know what they want and are just experimenting which I think is something everyone should do. Can't knock it til you've tried it, after all :p

Although if I'm honest I think asexuality is the "new bi" in that regard.
It does seem so, doesn't it?

Most of the time I hear someone on this forum say they're asexual there seems to be this underlying tone of "I'm going against the current, baby! Yeah!!!"

I have two friends of mine who are bi, one of them only came out last week (but we all knew way before he did) and something tells me he did it for two reasons: he was unsure so he played it neutral or he had literally the biggest crush on my other bi friend and did it to impress her.
It is easy for someone to play them self off as bi for acceptance because they don't have to be attached to dating one sex and thus doesn't have to provide any form of proof or commitment. We now more than ever have many stars and idols who are or were gay (ie; Neil Patrick Harris, Ellen Degeneris) and it has sort of become the in thing right now. Probably due to whatever stereo types are attached to being a homosexual. Funny, charismatic and fashion conscious for gay men and independent, good natured and well grounded for lesbian women. Maybe I'm just being an armchair psychologist but I just wish people would be who they are, in the end they'll be much happier about it.

Being bi just seems like a strange fad to me at times. Some gay friends of mine agreed. Though there are some who are authentic. Still, I always found it kinda weird that pretty much 99% of every emo in my high school was bi. Yup, seems genuine to me.

A lot of bi's aren't really bi, they're just doing in to impress chicks (if they're guys, vice versa if they're girls). It's become a bit of a fad, really.

There are legit ones out there though, it's just sad they've become undermined by those retards.

I think there is a lot of this going on. It has been discussed before on here and you can imagine how well that went. It seems more common with females to me.
