"[Ah, yes of course,]" Alistair said to Arryn, "[how terribly rude of me. My name is Alistair Thorngrave, though you can just call me Alistair. It's a pleasure to meet you.] I may as well introduce myself to you, too," the mage said, turning to the Basitin. "Just call me Alistair, and it's nice to meet you." He paused for a moment and recollected what Arryn had wanted translated, then when he remembered, he relayed to message to the Basitin word for word.

Listening carefully, Victor noted the somewhat steep price for just a ink bottle. Victor was not doing what this mage fellow was doing, so he couldn't really judge the man on it. However, he was instead pleased when the man actually proved worth the bit of a wait, and told him the name of the companion he had picked up, as well as what she was doing out here.

"Well, what would I say when I do not think I would be understood? No point in speaking when no one can listen." Victor muttered mostly to himself before speaking somewhat louder.

"Greetings Alistair. I am Victor, traveler and sometimes mercenary when I need the coin. I have traveled far doing all sorts of tasks trying to make myself more prepared. Seems it is still not good enough." Victor turned towards the companion who needed the translating for...Aryn, her name was.

"If you could tell her much the same I would appreciate the sentiment. Also I would like to extend my apologies if my actions before were somewhat rude or harsh...." Victor started, and then turned towards the mage. "However, I hope you understand that I would like some pointers or something to assist in this translation without yourself. I would imagine you having better things to do than continue a conversation between us."

Can't hope for any amazing changes, but something to at least get me started would probably be helpful, since I have some small grasp of the language as it is. But for now, this will work nicely. As long as I don't get cheated on this.

"[Yes, he was damn good in that fight, nipping about and cutting them to ribbons...And you were pretty formidable too I might add!]" He smiled and visualised the fight again. One of the perks of getting older was the ability to happily remeniss about anything, anywhere and not feel stupid about it!

"[But I'd agree, he seems too intelligent to be under the impression that the world is divided heroes, peasants and monsters.]" he mused for a little longer, contemplating his two companions, before deciding the water was starting to cool.

"[I think I'll go for a quick stroll around the city. I might as well see if there's anything interesting for sale nearby.]" he glanced at his wound "[And you wouldn't happen to know if there was a healer near here would you?]"

Alistair translated the message to Arryn, then turned to the Basitin. "Please, no need for apologies. Could've been much worse, I suppose..." the mage paused for a moment, thinking back on the things he dealt with that were far worse than minor impoliteness. He snapped back to the current conversation and cleared his throat before continuing. "Also, I, uh...I'm not too great of a teacher. I suh-suppose I could take you to a book shop, I mean if you don't mind f-f-following me around for a while longer. I kinda had a couple more errands to run..." Alistair scratched the back of his neck, his nerves returning as he feared they may be displeased at what he said.

Terry leaned his head back and thought for a moment. "[Yeah I know a guy. He's about three blocks left, and two up from here. Look for a sign that simply says 'Medical' and ask for a human named Ben Pierce. He's fixed me up on many occasions.]" Lazily raising an arm he began to scrub his fur, trying to work days of travel grit out of it.

It was good to finally know what the name of the Basitin was, though Arryn still didn't know what kind of Keidran he was. After all, she didn't know what a Basitin was and assumed he was a Keidran. She thought to ask their newest companion, Alistair. Maybe he'd know. "[Excuse me, but I wanted to know what kind of Keidran Victor is. I have never seen anyone like him. I have seen a few kinds of Keidran, but never anyone like him.]" She was eager to learn, which helped her, but it helped little when she didn't know much about the outside world to begin with. Still, she wanted to try her best.

She didn't know what the two of them were talking about after Alistair translated for her, but she didn't want to let them out of her sight since she would now be able to go around and ask Alistair about the various things around the city. "[And if I could bother you again, what exactly is this place? I went here because it's so big and thought it would have many interesting things to explore, but didn't expect to run into the trouble of not understanding a lot.]"

Namar had lost track of time, the Librarian had brought the books he'd written on the list, but he simply couldn't bring himself to read, it was starting to irritate him, he looked around toward the entrance, his tail happened to be a keidran, seemed like a wolf, he was male, fairly young and already had a few scars, if only small ones, it was doubtful that the pup would expect anything, thugs were always a bit dim, especially the younger ones, Namar turned back to his book for a moment, still couldn't read it, he frowned, this would not do at all, he looked up at the passing librarian.

"Excuse me? yes i'll be going now, i assume it'll be fine to leave these ones here, i have something to attend to so i'll bid you farewell, this town is becoming rather... dull." Namar stood up, he'd been gathering mana for the past few minutes so it only took a moment for him to turn and throw a newly created ball of flame at his follower, the Keidran looked surprised as the force of the impact sent him flying backwards, knocking him out as his head hit the ground outside.

"Bloody pests..." Namar murmered to himself as he walked over to the Keidran thug and lifted him up by the fur on the back of his neck, he began to drag the poor thing down the road away from the Library, he was going to see his previous client, and go over a few issues with their methods an general conduct, as he walked he received several looks from passers, but they didn't alert anyone, Namar's pet was quite obviously no one worth helping, so no one tried.

"[Ah,]" Alistair started, pausing a moment as he was stuck with the decision of which question to answer first. He scratched the part of his scraggly beard that partly covered the black splotch on his right cheek as was his usual manner when pondering something. Deciding he should just answer the first question first, he proceeded to do just that. "[Well, you probably have never seen a Keidran like Victor be-because he's not a Keidran, you see? He's a Basitin, from th-the Basitin Isles across the ocean. As f-for what this place is, it's a city. A rather large on at that, n-not entirely unlike a village in function, though the community is vastly different. For example, in the city, many won't give a damn about you and what you may be dealing with. To them you'd just be another set of problems they don't need whereas in a village, there's a deep connection neighbors share. People in a village may be apt to share valuables and resources amongst one another or even settle for trading, here most everything costs gold. In a village, everyone can be seen gathered around a campfire at night, sharing food and drink; you can always be sure you'll have a warm place to sleep and you're welcomed with open arms. In a city, you have to pay to eat, pay to drink; if you need a place to stay, you're likely to have a door slammed in your face if you don't have the coin.]"

Alistair realized he had been rambling and making the whole place seem dark and dismal. He gulped nervously and cleared his throat before breaking the short and thin silence, "[B-but cities aren't always so bad, I suppose. People get used to the life - I personally try to avoid it whenever possible...]"

As Victor walked for a bit, he tried his best to listen in and understand what Aryn and Alistair were talking about. While he could not translate everything, he figured they were first of all talking about him, since he could tell what his name was in Keidran at least. However, what happened later seemed odd to him. He was describing...Town? The city maybe? And there was something about villages in there too. Whatever the case, he wasn't exactly sure if it was worth trying to understand because the man seemed horribly jittery as he talked, probably meaning that things Victor would normally understand were probably impossible.

"Hey, you alright?" Victor asked the mage, not sure what to make of him as of yet. "Or is there something you ain't telling us? Because to be honest, you look like you are about to leap out of your skin and run as fast as you can."

If this is a trap, I'm going to make sure that he does jump out of his skin. And loses some parts in the process.

Victor took this moment to consciously check his blades to make sure they were secured and ready, as well as his person to make sure that everything was were it should be should he need to get moving. Perfection in form meant a clean getaway.

"[My thanks friend.]" Borta said as he dragged his hairy form out of the bath. Shaking himself furiously, he spattered water around the cubical about him. He smiled. He loved doing that.
"[With any luck, I'll see you around dinner time.]"
Drying his fur he dressed quickly in his travelling coat, trousers and hat, but left his armour and mace in his room. He'd had enough fighting for one day.

Stepping out onto the streets, Borta was suprised to see the flow of people had subsided slightly. There were still enough to give the place a feeling of big-city busieness, but now Borta could walk in his own little pocket of space. A little bubble of air in a babbling creek.

He paused mid step. Was that from a song? He thought for a second. No, not from any he could remember, so it either wasn't very good or didn't exist. He might try to rectify that at some point; it was a nice metaphore.

Striding calmly into the street, Borta followed Terry's instructions and soon came to the healer's place. A man sat in a corner reading a book and looking extremely bored.

"Are you Ben Pierce?" Borta asked, walking into the middle of the room.

"That'd be me." he grumbled, folding down the corner of a page and standing up slowly. He was middle aged and balding slightly, but seemed to have maintained his physique for the most part, as there was hardly any fat on him. Then again, it wa hard to tell considering the white robes he wore. Dusting himself off he smiled at the Keidran "And what can I do for you."

Borta pulled up his sleave and indicated his hand "I was also thinking if you could have a look at my back, I think I've damaged the ribs." Ben nodded, then inspected Borta's hand

"Shouldn't take too long, its not done too much damage. Although I'm a bit conserned about how long its been this way, you look extremely pale..." Borta raised an eyebrow and glanced at his other hand in a brief panic. How much blood had he lost?

The healer laughed to himself "Just a little joke my friend, we'll have you fixed up in no time."

Borta laughed humourlessly "Yes, good one. White fur. Got it. Yes." He sat down in a chair and waited for the man to return with the candles or leeches or whatever it was healers used now adays.

Alistair froze and gave Victor a perplexed look which soon grew into worry, believing that if the Basitin suspected he was hiding something he may become agitated and even aggressive. The mage had absolutely nothing to hide, though his anxiety may have attributed to the appearance that he had. He took a step back from the Basitin cautiously and raised his hands, showing his palms in a harmless gesture. He couldn't help but begin stammering in fear, for even though he could hold his own in a confrontation, or flee if he needed, he desperately wanted to avoid it. "Wha...what? L-listen, I s-s-suh-swear, there's n-nothing I'm w-w-withholding from you. M-m-my ap-p-pologies if I s-s-s-suh-s-seem to be..."

Terry grunted an acknowledgement as Borta left. He lay in the tub for a few more minutes, he head back and eyes closed, just relaxing. Ah hell the waters getting cold. He though with a sigh. Guess I'll get out as well. Dragging himself from the water, he shook vigorously like the Kiedran , before towelling off the excess and getting dressed.

Finding he had more energy now he decided to do a little solo practice. Being as he pretty much lived at the inn, Bill had let Terry set up a target dummy and a few other things in the inn's backyard. Dragging the dummy to the center of the yard, he unhitched his hammer and began, the sharp thwack of the weapon striking wood resonating off the walls.

Chris bolted upright, sweating and breathing heavily. "Ah, that damn dream again." He looked out his window and saw that the day had not ended yet. "Not again, crap." Chris moaned aloud. He heard a loud smack coming from out his window. When Chris looked down from his window, he saw the basitin from before practicing on a dummy. Then Chris got dressed, grabbed his bow & quiver and dagger, and went to the backyard. As he walked out Chris said, "I see you're practicing. Mind if I join?"

[A Basitin? So he's not a type of Keidran? Interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind. I might have to ask him again later.] As for the part about the city, Arryn thought he did make it seem like a place you wouldn't want to stay in. But surely this many people wouldn't be gathered in such a big place if it was bad for them, right? Her group wasn't overly big, but it never got to the point where anyone wasn't happy with being in the group. Apart from her, maybe, though it was more due to curiosity than not wanting to be in the group.

While Alistair and Victor were talking together, she tried to pick up from how they were acting what they were talking about. It seemed like Victor was threatening Alistair, by the way they both looked. Alistair looked like he was about to faint if he kept acting like he was. He seemed a bit stressed. But from what?

She stepped between them to interrupt, mostly because she didn't want this to turn into a fight over whatever they were talking about, and turned her words to Alistair. "[If you're not feeling alright, I can try to help you relax. My group had a method to keep us away from becoming too stressed because it was important to stay relaxed, especially when we were out hunting.]"

As Victor watched Alistair go from nervous man to absolute wreck, he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. He figured the man didn't have anything planned, and was simply this jittery ALL the time. He wasn't sure if meeting this fellow was such a good idea, if he was so busy being jittery....

However, Aryn seemed to notice that they were having a conversation, or that the man seemed to become horribly jittery as they were conversing. He was certain he caught the word "relax" from her, which was good. Meant that she noted how absolutely odd this man was acting, and Victor wasn't exactly sure how to calm him down...short of making him bleed a little, but that might make the problem even worse, if Victor could imagine such a thing.

"Easy, Alistair. Just take it easy. You are going to pass out from being so panicked at this rate, and I would rather not have that on my record." Victor said, watching the mage and their surroundings a bit more closely at the moment. Danger would come from around them rather than from them at the moment.

Perhaps we should seek rooms before the evening even approaches. I think the fellow needs some rest, and perhaps I could learn something from Aryn in private without the translator....with some luck and patience. At least I have a name and the such.

"I see you're practicing. Mind if I join?"

After delivering a blow to the dummy that would have left a living target on their back, Terry turned around. "Not at all. I got another dummy in the shed to your left if you want, and I set up a range if you wanna use your bow." He said, motioning with his hammer.

Steadying the dummy, he set the war hammer aside and drew his dagger. He began rolling and twisting the blade, the razor sharp edge flickering in the light. As he was doing this he began to circle his target, occasionally lashing out at the usual unarmoured points on a body with remarkable speed and accuracy.

After waiting a few minutes, Ben returned with a sticky, brown paste and a bandage. Borta raised an eyebrow in suprise

"I was expecting magic or something." he stated disappointedly

The healer snorted "I save magic for real injuries, this is just a scratch." He applied the...curious mix to the cut and wrapped the bandage around Borta's hand.

"Now, this back of yours..." he moved behind Borta, who dutifully removed his travelling coat. A few moments and painfully intrusive prods to the ribs later, the healer walked back into view. "I don't think you've broken anything, but I am worried about the muscles in your back." He walked over to his desk and rang a small, golden bell. It tinkled softly, and Borta could faintly here the pattering of feet in one of the back rooms.

"It seems," Ben continued, turning back to the Keidran "you've managed to pull most of them." Borta looked blankly at him. He spoke good human from their songs, medical terms rarely featured. He sighed and continued "You've strained all the muscles in your back. Damaged them. I don't really want to use magic on it, but I could recommend some alternative treatment?"

Borta nodded "Whatever you think best."

The man smiled "Ten gold onto the table there, then follow me." Borta knew he was probably being ripped off, but didn't really care. He had another twenty in his pouch, and a further couple hundred stashed in his luggage. that was one of the perks of his old age: he'd lived rough all his young life when he could stand it, now he was old, he could afford comforts.

At that moment, like many times before, Alistair desperately wished he was better at dealing with people. His anxiety would've overwhelmed him had Arryn not stepped between him and the accusing Basitin. She spoke of helping him to relax and to the mage, she seemed sincere with her offer. He still didn't know what to make of the situation altogether and tried to maintain what little composure he had left.

I sure would love to be at home right now, he thought. There, I could relax by my fire with a hot cup of tea. Tea...do I have enough Hibiscus? I should have some in a vial somewh-

Alistair's thoughts were broken when Victor spoke to him again, telling him to 'take it easy'. He had to lean to the side to get a clear view past Arryn, "W-well maybe I'd be able to 't-t-take it easy' if s-somebody wasn't making wild accusations."

The mage, quite finished with his retort, shied away from the Basitin's gaze and looked back to Arryn. "[I...I'm very s-sorry for the way I am. I just...I-I'm not used to talking to people. At all. It's v-very kind of you to offer to help, a-an-and I think it would be rude of me n-not to accept.]"

"[It will require you to trust me. And maybe not a place that's as noisy as here.]" Arryn mentioned as she looked around. This wouldn't be suitable for her method to work. "[It's a couple of breathing exercises and a bit of meditation. I don't know how that sounds to you, but as I mentioned, you'd have to trust me while I'd help you with it. Right now, though, we could use a place that's fairly quiet. Do you know of such a place?]"

"Thanks." Chris said as he walked to the range. He made sure that the circular target was set up correctly and then took 30 paces away from the target. Chris brought up his bow, set his arrow, steady his aim, took a deep breath, and with the flick of his fingers, sent the arrow flying through the air. The arrow punctured the the center of the wooden target with a thunk . While having showing a small smirk, Chris took 10 more paces back and readied another arrow. He went through the motions again and let the arrow zip through the air. Again the arrow punctured the center of the target, not even an inch off the other arrow. Glad to see my aim hasn't gone away Chris thought to himself as he went to retrieve the arrows.
