Don't be ridiculous.

The worst genres ever are country and rap.
Whats so bad about rap?
Everything.

From the lyrics (almost always some sort of variation on "I have a giant cock" or "whores are sucking me off under the table) to the volume people play it at (too fucking loud, motherfuckers. I don't want my eardrums to pop at a hundred paces. Turn down your fucking music.)

And before you try and convince me that there is good rap out there, save it.
I'm sure there is.
But I don't want to hear it. Literally.
This is weird. First you say that rap is bad in any way imaginable, one sentence later you admit there is rap that is not bad but you don't want to know about it (god knows why, maybe you're afraid of losing your credibility by admitting there is good rap, which you've already done, but... nevermind, I can't come up with a legit reason not wanting to listen to good music). I'm no Hip-Hop fan myself, but seriously - what was that? Please illuminate me.

But you know what's even a cooler combination? Summerhit-popsongs combined with death metal:

Edit: They're not masked because they want to rip off Slipknow (who ripped off Mushroomhead) but because they're wanted criminals. Don't know about what they do these days, though, that might have changed.

Well, Rock music and Classical music generally don't have much in common, save for a few common chord progressions and time signatures, but there are plenty of genres that mix classical music and rock: Progressive rock, Post-rock, Symphonic Rock, Symphonic Metal, Wagnerian rock, etc.
I wasn't alluding to what the genres had in common, I was talking about their breadth - i.e., rap is a broad label referring to several subgenres; screamo *is* a subgenre. Therefore, while elements of rap might be combined with screamo, it doesn't make sense to claim that all of rap is being combined with screamo.

Rock and Classical, on the other hand, are both very broad headings, so it makes more sense to say that the two are being combined - although the statement itself says very little.

Also: I care because untalented people are being called "musicians" by the ignorant masses, and because there are tons of bands who have had no training, write songs that take 5 minutes to write, have a singer who can only scream (also, emo singers usually have a very limited range and even more limited tessitura), a drummer who can only play in 4/4, a guitarist who can only play 5ths and a bassist who can only play whatever the guitarist is playing but an octave lower and with only one string. Not to mention all the guitars are always tuned to D or Drop D, with complete disregard for whatever key the singer is using.
That might be because they *are* musicians, you whining gnat of a half-baked elitist. Their works may not be as technical, complex, or whatever other quality an artist would need to fit your personal definition of music, but they're still musicians. That's not to say that what they produce is necessarily good, but there's no universal musical talent gradient - if one makes something that someone somewhere considers to be music, then one is a musician.

Also, since when is training required to be a musician? You are aware that many of the artists who pioneered blues, which all rock has its roots in, as well as rock itself, had little to no classical or technical training? Their "training" consisted of playing the damn instrument.
To the first point: Ahhhh, I see what you meant now, and I stand corrected.

To the second: I don't need music to be technical or complex in order to call it music. Yes, they are musicians, but only in the sense that stale milk is still milk.
Without just a little understanding of how music works (A full understanding of musical theory and history is, of course, unnecessary.), they'll never do anything innovative or groundbreaking. Playing music without knowledge of theory is like lighting a fire without knowing about combustion: you'll never make something greater than a big bonfire.
Oh, and the artists who pioneered all those genres without formal training are virtuosos, something which these kids are obviously not.

Damn it, I've always thought that that cover was intended to be satirical, and I found it very funny. Now I just find it sad.

That was the most awful thing I have heard for a very, very long time.
I am pretty broad in my musical taste, but that was awful.
The worse part of it was I sent the link to a guy I know over Steam, and he likes it.

You're probably going to want more than five feet. If you don't tie that noose properly, you'll linger around while more of this crap is played.
Six feet boys, six feet.
Snap, don't strangle.

Frankly I feel that anyone who thinks a music genre is inherently bad is working off prejudice. If you're going to say all Rap is bad, you might as well say certain film genres like sci-fi or comedy are "terrible" as a whole. There is good Country music and good Rap music, just like there is bad Rock and bad Jazz, etc etc.

I myself don't care for Rap, but I'd never say all of it's bad. I quite like K'Naan, for instance. (I find it refreshing to have someone rap about guns and slums who really has a right to- K'Naan is from Somalia.) And though I'm not a country fan either, I'm not above enjoying it if I like it.

There seems to be a weird dynamic in music where if an artist in a genre someone looks down on is good, he suddenly "transcends" his genre. Ask people if they like Folk music and they'll usually sneer, but if you ask them if they like Bob Dylan oh, well of course I like Bob Dylan, but y'know, he's not really a Folk artist... It's the same shit people used to pull to explain why sci-fi wasn't literature. (Oh, but Ray Bradbury doesn't write sci-fi you see...)

Duke Ellington once said: "If it sounds good, it is good."

just when I thought music today couldnt get any worse. I could live with country music, I could live with the black eyed peas, but this shit!!! I should have seen this coming. There are only 2 signs left. The Jonas Brothers were the first and this is the second. The 4 horseman of the apocalypse are upon us!!!!!

Just kidding. But yeah this shit sucks

Yes, it had been said before. About a billion times or so. Hint: it wasn't clever the first the time, and by the billionth time, you just look like a giant rusted tool.

It'll happen.
And on that day, humanity will die.
Those are by far the worst. Rap is just a bit worse than country. Rap is not even singing. It is just some person talking during music. At least with metal you have people singing while they are screaming.
