Don't be ridiculous.

Just wait.
Just you wait.
It'll happen.
And on that day, humanity will die.
That's uncharacteristically optimistic of you, don't you think? Assuming we'll get freed of such suffering.

Actually their cover of Baby Got Back sounds quite good. If you could call it a cover. More of a parody.
Although maybe I just choose to believe it was done sarcastically instead of considering the possibility of anyone sinking that low. I prefer the illusion in that case. :)
But then again the original wasn't meant to be taken seriously either... was it?

Humanity must already be dead. Have you ever heard of Kid Rock?

Oh.

My.

God.

I hadn't listened to 20 seconds of that "I set my friends on fire" clip before my eyes started watering, getting ready to cry.

You... wow. Who the hell...

I...

So bad, that words to describe it are far beyond me.

No, not that I don't believe (though who knows what the OP is on about). That is the band Aiden performing their song called I Set My Friends On Fire.

I believe he is talking about this song [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0fpbopNqFE] which I am personally a huge fan of.

God. I just got another chance(?) to listen to this song, and it sounds like they're crying! They share our same feelings about this genre of music! Thank the lord! (not really)

The only song in these threads so far I didn't enjoy listening to was that country rap king crap. I do have to say all the members of that Aiden(sp?) band looked like emo tools who need to get thier asses kicked into manhood, but the song they played wasn't all that bad.

And I do agree with Max that country and rap are the two worst genres over-all, but I do like several artists and songs in both catagories. I don't hate the artist just because of his prefered instrument of artistry, but it will influence wether or not I let his art into my life and not just give it a casual or little to no attention.

A always appreciate talent in others for I have so little in myself.

Just when I thought the music industry couldn't get any more worse; they go and combine the worst 2 genres of music together. Ladies and gentlement of The Escapist, I bring you:

Rap combined with screamo!

If you don't believe me. Just go to youtube and type in I Set My Friends On Fire.

I weep for the music industry, honestly, I do.

I think that's kinda funny!
I like it better then Soulja Boy's version, at least.

I think it's a pretty clever mix of genres. Heaven forbid we experiment, especially with something so rigid (sarcasm alert) as music. It may not be something everyone will enjoy, but that's what makes music such a wonderful artistic medium! It's ever changing and diverse as the people who listen to it.
There isn't one over all best form of music.
There isn't one over all worst form of music.

If you don't like it, fine. But bitching about it doesn't change the fact that some people like it, so suck it up. Unless you're bitching about Nickleback, because they suck so bad (Haha!).

I'm guessing the only rap you have any knowledge of is mainstream rap. That's too bad. Rap can have some of the most poetic, meaningful lyrics of any other music I can think of. It's not my favorite genre of music, but I can certainly appreciate it. But you probably have the stereotype in your head of "gangsta rap", which doesn't even come to my mind anymore when I think of the word rap. Of course "gangsta rap" is garbage, it's the mainstream variety.

Then again I'm pretty much on bad terms with all mainstream music, whether it's rock, rap, or whatever. Mainstream music just has no soul and tends to sound like studio executives wrote it, rather then any particular "artist".

After rereading a lot of the posts in this thread, I'm kind of annoyed. Everybody's making these stupid jokes about killing themselves or the end of humanity. Ok, you don't like it, I get it. Did you really think that everybody on the planet has the same tastes as you up until this thread existed? Maybe try leaving your bedrooms and meeting some people.

Whats sickens me more is that the band is still around after making shitty music more more than 3 years.

And really any other band that makes music this horrid.

Well, Rock music and Classical music generally don't have much in common, save for a few common chord progressions and time signatures, but there are plenty of genres that mix classical music and rock: Progressive rock, Post-rock, Symphonic Rock, Symphonic Metal, Wagnerian rock, etc.
I wasn't alluding to what the genres had in common, I was talking about their breadth - i.e., rap is a broad label referring to several subgenres; screamo *is* a subgenre. Therefore, while elements of rap might be combined with screamo, it doesn't make sense to claim that all of rap is being combined with screamo.

Rock and Classical, on the other hand, are both very broad headings, so it makes more sense to say that the two are being combined - although the statement itself says very little.

Clashero said:
Also: I care because untalented people are being called "musicians" by the ignorant masses, and because there are tons of bands who have had no training, write songs that take 5 minutes to write, have a singer who can only scream (also, emo singers usually have a very limited range and even more limited tessitura), a drummer who can only play in 4/4, a guitarist who can only play 5ths and a bassist who can only play whatever the guitarist is playing but an octave lower and with only one string. Not to mention all the guitars are always tuned to D or Drop D, with complete disregard for whatever key the singer is using.
That might be because they *are* musicians, you whining gnat of a half-baked elitist. Their works may not be as technical, complex, or whatever other quality an artist would need to fit your personal definition of music, but they're still musicians. That's not to say that what they produce is necessarily good, but there's no universal musical talent gradient - if one makes something that someone somewhere considers to be music, then one is a musician.

Also, since when is training required to be a musician? You are aware that many of the artists who pioneered blues, which all rock has its roots in, as well as rock itself, had little to no classical or technical training? Their "training" consisted of playing the damn instrument.
