Every time Auron was killed in battle in FFX. Terrible character, like less interesting more over the top solid snake with a touch of the gay.
Uhh....his name is Jenkins. He's a cultural reference...why would they make him into a deep character?FrankDux post=9.71920.741672 said:haha, Jenkins. Yeah, you'd think they would have at least made him a really endearing and cool character over the course of a mission or so before he died...Bowstring post=9.71920.741471 said:The marine who dies during the beginning mission of Mass Effect. I didn't think "what a tragic loss", I thought "what a complete git."
I'm surprised someone played that game at all...let alone knows the characters names.TheNecroswanson post=9.71920.741721 said:Unfortunately when Devin Ross dies in Jericho. It is rather tragic, but the point was that we already knew he wasn't going to be gone.
Same with Cole and Jones. They died rather gruesomely, but their powers wouldn't have really helped in the final battle anyway. So their death wasn't really serving a purpose.
I second everything you said, it's like you were reading my mind. Except I never played the Haze demo but I'll take your word for that.Raven28256 post=9.71920.741830 said:When your helicopter pilot and that second Rainbow team gets killed in Rainbow Six Vegas 2. They played up how tragic it was and I was just thinking "Eh...Sorry...not feeling it because I'm not even aware of what their names are..."
I remember playing the demo for Haze. They tried to make the death of that nameless pilot all sad and tragic. It wasn't. Although, I was laughing my ass off so hard at the horrendous dialog and voice acting that I missed 90% of the conversation.
On that note, almost EVERYONE who has ever died in a shooter. The characters are often little more than cliches, so any sort of emotional impact that their death might have had is lost.
When Kaiden (Optional) dies in Mass Effect. I never really cared for him, nor Ashley.
When someone dies in most JRPGs. If it is a women, I'm always all "HA! That is what you get for fighting demons in your bra and panties, you whore!" If it is a guy, I'm always all "HA! That is what you get for fighting demons in your girlfriend/mom/sister's bra and panties, you cross dresser!"
I kinda felt bad for him. Sure he was the Guild Wars version of Leeroy Jenkins, but he never died excessivly...at least not when I was doing the missions...of course, I was a monk.Tenamor post=9.71920.741766 said:Prince Rurik from the Prophecies Campaign in Guild Wars, especially back when he was buggy and just ran into every mob within a 10 mile radius -_-
I seriously cheered, loudly when I saw him get crushed.
I actually thought the fact that it wasn't physically confirmed and you just saw him sort of tortured really interesting.maxusy3k post=9.71920.741841 said:That guy in F.E.A.R. - I forget his name. Jansen or something? But like in the second mission it's instantly obvious he's dead and I was just kind of... "oh well."
