Personally, I feel that X2 was the best entry in the series. X3 just sort of ruined the mystique that was built up from X.
The story just sort of fell apart in the final act. It's genuinely frustrating when series like X are subjected to final hour rewrites/budget constraints/publisher angst/developer ineptitude/too much fan input/too little fan input/over abundance of ideas for their development cycle/too much bloom.
Y's looking like a good property. It's got a lot of the same elements, but somehow feels fresher.

At first I thought you were actually complaining in the most convoluted fashion about the game "X: Beyond the Frontier" or one of its sequels. Took me a couple of seconds to realise that when you said X you meant X as a variable, not as the game itself.
Otherwise, I agree with what I can assume your opinion is, however "What's the deal with [x]" threads are kinda fine IMO. This is a gaming site, and we can have gaming discussions. I am going to shoot the next person who asks "What's so great about Half Life/Portal/Skyrim/Mass Effect/[Insert other games that this question has been asked over and over for here]". At least come up with some new titles to complain about.

I think your right Matthew94. Skyrim was way less complex then Oblivion which was way less complex then Morrowind and sucked because of this streamlining. Its just a turd in hype-wrapping and won't just die and be forgotten like Modern Warfare did.Matthew94 said:

It used only two major components to create a memorable and full experience, whereas Z had to have three parts, but only the bit in the middle was really fleshed out, whereas the beginning and end just felt like additions to tie it all together.

OT: You don't like X? I love X. I need to rage at you about how wrong your opinion is and show you why X is so great that nobody could ever hate it!
Although that's not actually in the spirit of what I usually try to post. Typically if I see something that inflammatory, I'll just read the thread for a quick laugh and leave it or not enter it in the first place. I'm not a very combative person, so I'll either try to post a well-reasoned response about what I find good about X, and then either ignore or feed the angry, spittle-spewing response I get. If the other person gives a calm, reasoned approach too, though, then I'm a happier person for it.
