Max Payne.
Let's set the scene.
Max has settled down with Mona Sax, who would probably be Mona Payne (HA HA HA) if she wasn't a criminal. They have a child. On this child's oh, I dunno', 13th or so birthday, an organization looking to avenge Vlad from Max Payne 2 sends a hitman to take care of Max. The hitman breaks in and shoots our faithful ex-protagonist, mortally wounding him. However, Max is a tough guy and he's determined not to let this shit happen again. This time, he protects his family from the crazed gunman. However, Max Payne is not able to reach the hospital quickly enough and dies.
Now, his son is distraught over his death. His only clue as to who the hitman was is a small *insert dubious symbol of great plot importance* which he found near the man's corpse. Fast forward to adulthood. The son becomes a cop to follow in Max's footsteps, and has kept dubious symbol of great plot importance. One day, he is assigned a case and the symbol comes up again, and another Max payne-esque adventure bursts onto our Xbox 360s and PS3s.

I wouldn't want Kain to die. I thought he was going to in Legacy of Kain: Defiance.
If he had to die, I'd chose that he gets over-run by enemies and killed in one epic battle. Almost how the assassins killed him in the first game, but this time it would be more.

Alex Mercer: He would fight the one thing, no matter what the mutation, his powers could ever beat: Chuck norris. If he was a boss you would play for 60 seconds than there would be a cutscene of your head being kicked off.

However, I'd change the plot somewhat. He would fight back against the Black Hand, manage to get through to Arquen, punch her in the face, cut her head off, and throw it back at the Black Hand, before being stabbed in the back by Bellamont. He was already stabbed in the back metaphorically, so it'd be a fitting death. Plus he'd take Arquen with him, which is a massive bonus.
However, I'd change the plot somewhat. He would fight back against the Black Hand, manage to get through to Arquen, punch her in the face, cut her head off, and throw it back at the Black Hand, before being stabbed in the back by Bellamont. He was already stabbed in the back metaphorically, so it'd be a fitting death. Plus he'd take Arquen with him, which is a massive bonus.

The cutscene:
Alex is sprinting down a ruined, rubble strewn NY street, helicopters in pursuit. The helicopters open fire, Alex darts from left to right, leaping off fallen building walls and overturned trucks. The helicopters then unleash a barrage of missiles, Alex takes one out with projectile rubble, two more home in on him. Maintaining top speed, he dashes into an alley, the missiles hit one of the buildings and Alex continues running in down another street. The helicopters appear over the rooftops and one fires another missile. We see a close up of Alex turning his head to see the missile, he jumps up high and as the missile passes under him, he latches on with the whipfist and pulls the missile up and over him to collide with one of the helicopters, Alex dive bombs the remaining helicopter. Tanks and soldiers appear at both ends of the street, Alex grabs the ruined helicopter and leaps high into the air, he rips the rotors off and uses it as an improvised shuriken to take out one of the tanks before hurling the rest of the helicopter at the other tank. As he lands, the soldiers open fire, Alex dive bombs one group and hurls the ruined tank at the other.
Elizabeth Greene appears with a guard of four leader hunters. The hunters attack, Alex dismembers the first three with the blade arm and impales the last with a ground spike. Just as the the biomass from the ground spike retracts, he is tackled by Elizabeth who whispers, "Nothing can stop the spread, you will be the vessel", before stabbing him and infecting him with a strain of the virus that he can't control. With a cry of pain and defiance, he punches Elizabeth which sends her flying into the side of a nearby building, Alex takes a running leap at her and impales her with his claws, embedding them in the wall in the process. With Elizabeth dead and the virus still spreading through his body, he absorbs her corpse and boards the Reagan and takes it out to sea. He goes below deck to activate the bomb. "My name is Alex Mercer, and my work is almost done." *boom*

But if I had to choose a death for him it would prolly involve him sacrificing himself to seal Ganon forever.

Sacrificed himself to free his clan of the demon blood curse. He was the second most badass character in all of warcraft (with the first being Jaina) but he was still my favorite cuz he had a giant axe and actually helped you out alot on the levels where he is supposed to lead an allied force.

favorite charecter... raz from psychonauts. everey one liner is hilarious and he make stuff catch fire with his MIND! how awesome is that! i guess mabye he loses his brain 2 lobboto. he gets put into a tank and then mr. pokilope pk's loboto out of that tower again. raz can never die!
