I love Okami, still play it every now and then (yes I still have my ps2, sue me), so...

About the -only- thing that is really making me hesitate to buy this (awesome) game for ps3 as well really is the fact that I have to unlock my favourite incarnation all over again. I have to finish the game to play in wolf form :-/ (and then of course do a complete run with the wolf form getting all the goodies, feeding all animals and whatnot).
Thats a bit... discouraging. If only they would give you all forms from the start! *whine*

I played it on the Wii but stopped playing after about an hour and a half.
Im not sure if its possible to really see what is so great about the game in an hour and half. Im not saying you'd definately like it if you stuck with it, but stopping so early is like stopping ocarina of time before you even reach hyrule field.

Yeah, the game does start off kind of slow, but once the world is open to you, then it's when it gets a lot better.

As some of you may know, there's HD re-release Okami in the works, scheduled for a world wide release this autumn on Playsation 3.

This may be actually new to some of you, so here's a trailer:

[sub][sub]Just gimme a sec, got something in my eye here...[/sub][/sub]

*clears throat*

Now it's no secret how much I love this game, so it's a given that I'm picking this up and soon as it's available.

I'm more interested in what you guys think.

Have you played Okami before? If so, what did you think of the game? Will you be getting the HD release?

Some of you may not have played the game at all, in which case, what the fuck have you been doing are you interested in the game?
Not played it, not really that interested either. I was busy playing games like Baldurs gate (Clearly superior)

I haven't played and have no intention in doing so.

Also, I have to kind of shake my head at this. A HD remake of a game made 6 years ago? Is it really necessary?

Why not?

I buy Blu-ray versions of older movies all the time.

I'm actually in the middle of replaying Okami right now. It's one of the only really long games that I have no problem making time for nowadays. As for the HD release, I'm not that interested. I'm about 11 hours in and I wouldn't want to replay all that just for some trophies.

And lets face it. It's not like they can make it look any prettier than it already is.

I'll buy it, and if my experiences with the PS2 and Wii versions are anything to go by, I'll play it for about half an hour and then never touch it again.

I think Michael Bay should make a movie based on this game. Preferably with more guns set in the Middle East. Maybe starring Megan Fox.

I don't think we can be friends anymore.

Okami in HD? Who cares. That game was awful and you should feel bad.

[/daystar baiting]

OT - I might have to dust off my ps3 for this.

I meant that much time hasn't passed since it was made. I mean, from what I've seen, it really doesn't need a HD rerelease.

These kinds of decisions are pretty much for my style of gamers. We either have the game but fails at backwards compatibility, or we MISSED the time when it was out and my PS2 is crap. This is my time to play the game.

Finally, a decent reason to get PSMove. I got to see it for the first time when a friend got it for his birthday, I thought it was awesome. When it came out for the Wii I got it then and have loved it, also have Okamiden.
I definitely prefer painting with motion controls so I will probably wait until I can get the PSMove cheap.

It's fine on smaller TVs, but the resolution is pretty poor on bigger HD displays.

The art style looks fantastic. Never played the original though. Also don't have a PS3 :(
Too bad this wasn't coming out for Xbox.

The thing with motion controls, is that painting is easier, but combat is a pain in the arse.

Okami is literally the single most pointless game you can choose to give an HD remake. It's still beautiful on PS2. HD can do nothing to enhance it.
It's in the same realm as the original Shadow of the Colossus. Okami still looks brilliant, but it doesn't quite look right on big HD TVs.
It was different with Shadow of the Colossus. The poor resolution was one thing. The frame rate was what made the original version legitimately unplayable for me. It actually made me nauseous. Okami still looks perfectly fine to me on my HD TV. Like I said before, it's a lot like The Wind Waker in that its look hasn't really aged.

I bought the original used from Gamestop a while back.
I doubt I'll pick up the HD version, simply because Capcom can suck it and I'd rather not give them money.

And wasn't the Wii version supposed to be fancier or something?
