Oh hell, I love a good crossover, the Judgement Night soundtrack from the 90s was a masterpiece (with a few low points).
1. "Just Another Victim" Helmet and House of Pain 4:23
2. "Fallin'" Teenage Fanclub and De La Soul 4:28
3. "Me, Myself, & My Microphone" Living Colour and Run DMC 3:10
4. "Judgment Night" Biohazard and Onyx 4:35
5. "Disorder" Slayer and Ice-T 4:58
6. "Another Body Murdered" Faith No More and Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. 4:24
7. "I Love You Mary Jane" Sonic Youth and Cypress Hill 3:52
8. "Freak Momma" Mudhoney and Sir Mix-A-Lot 4:00
9. "Missing Link" Dinosaur Jr. and Del tha Funkee Homosapien 3:59
10. "Come and Die" Therapy? and Fatal 4:27
11. "Real Thing" Pearl Jam and Cypress Hill 3:33

Yes I was lazy and c+p'd from wiki... Without wanting to sound like a marketing dick, 'thinking outside the box' can sometimes produce some real gems, and most of the time artists have a lot of respect for those outside their genre.

I don't consider myself a rap fan in any way, yet I have albums from De La Soul, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Cypress Hill, and probably more if I go look, that's just from this list.

I think the problem as ever is with how it is perceived, there's hundreds of great mainstream pop bands, yet the chart will forever be clogged with ex reality show winners (UK) or ex disney stars and faux country singalong hacks (US).

Pretty much the same deal for every genre, Jazz has the like of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, yet its celebrity midget Jamie Cullum that gets all the airtime.

Classical, damn, seems we only like classical when it's 'lite' and performed by someone who won a talent show, preferably not even classical at all, but old pop songs sung a faux opera style (yes I'm looking at you, G4).

Here's one of my favourites of the crossovers however, from the minds of one of the escapist badges, Mike Patton, voice of the Portal anger sphere and L4D's infected.

Yeah... About rap... I'm sorry.

I like all the proper stuff like the 2 first songs you embedded, and generally anything by Eminem. But really, I think there is so much bad rap (stuff 'bout guns and hoes), that I can't be bothered to search for the gems.

I'd rather just, find some proper metal bands that I like, and listen to them. Maybe every once in a while, I'll add another band to the list, and obsess with them for a week.

that's just gangsta-rap though.
which is the only form of rap i hate.

the rest is tolerable and good at times.

Ooh, that is good. Thank you.
You're welcome, if you liked that, here's one more random band that is no longer together anymore. This band is not as good as Reveille, and the singer's voice may bother you, but I always liked them

Ehhh... I find some rap to be 'okay', and I do like rap if it's comedic or something [Lonely Island?], but most of the generic rap I hear is just... empty. The content is predictable [Sex, Black People, Fights or GUNZZZZ!!!!111011011one] and sometimes I just find it sounds terrible. Don't get me wrong, there are a handful of rap songs, that aren't comedic, that I like... I just prefer other music... By a mile...
Exactly my opinion.

Like all genres, there's goo and bad, but rap is dominated by the bad. I do love me a bit of Public Enemy, NWA, Run DMC and Beastie Boys though.

I don't identify with the major themes in more-or-less 'mainstream rap and/or hip-hop'.
I don't particularly find the message/lyrics/musical arrangements intriguing.

Exceptions are universally restricted to Accompanied Spoken Word, for instance:

This also happens to be one of the best videos I've ever seen for actually telling the song's story.

The rest of the rap/RnB/Hop-Hop phenomenon can carry on elsewhere, ideally out of my earshot.

I used to like Hip-Hop
but then came rap
lost was the soul
now old hat

I used to like Funk
the rhythm and the bass
but then came rap
a slap across the face

if there is no beat boxer
no MC
no DJ
then it's not for me

If you were from the same school I am from, you wouldn't say be able to write that with a straight face.
No. Really, you couldn't. Dead serious.

I hear mediocre, bland and "yoyo wazzup it's ZB-doggie in tha hooooooouse! He's fucking epic let's give him a waaaaaaaa?????!!!?!" which kind of covers... Let's say, 89% of all rap ever existing.
It might come out "trollish" but I am simply expressing my attitude towards it.

It's kind of marketing the black sheep out there in an unfair stature, yes. And I am sure there are some...*Halfway coughs up his lounges* Poetic... Rappers out there, but I stand by my experiences of it.
With a strong iron-fist.

However, this does not mean I hate ALL rap. Weird Al Yankovic takes the cake!
BEHOLD!

all depends on who you listen to, i love rap but there's some stuff in it that i hate like most of lil' waynes stuff. But when you get into guys like kidz in the hall, the cool kids, kid cudi or wale then that's the stuff that i love. Groups/artists like that are my favorite things in all of music.

Well i like rap music, if it's done right, like you said, from people's experiences. Eminem for me is my favourite rapper because the way he raps is very emotional, even his funny ones in a way because he shows that he loves doing it, although his serious ones are what i think make him great.

Now what i hate are the people who try to do hip-hop and end up with a pop/r'n'b/hip-hop mix. There are plenty of those assholes in the uk music industry.

There can be good examples and bad examples of artists for every music genera. Take for example Rock and Roll. Do we judge Rock and Roll based on the Jonas brothers? God no that'd be stupid

I think its more so the rap they hear they dont hear the other forms or rap they just hear whats popular. For instance I would hate rock if pop punk was the only thing I've heard but I'll be joining the group

I seriously dislike rap
Like what you want, really, but its the only genre of music I can really say I hate.

Why?
Damn good question, Im trying to give you a solid answer now.

1. Its not music
Its some loser faking it over either entirely generic sounds or someone elses music
Sure, you could say that freestyle is a skill, but its a skill like popping a peanut off your wrist into the air and into your mouth, nobody cares.

2. Its not singing, its speaking quickly
Nuff said

3. Encourages cocky punk behavior
That whole thug life BS is a huge joke to me, looks just like the vampire and werewolf faker twilight fans to me, just sad little fanboys, but worse because presumably the twilight fanboys put on their regular clothes and act normal now and then, the wannabe gangsters dont seem too.

But the very biggest reason is because of the hype
Its mostly the same reason I dont like apple, its not necessarily because of the shortcomings of the item itself, its that everybody jumps on the bandwagon and pretends its the greatest thing ever
