As Marcus tells his story Sai'if sighs and leans back on his seat to stare off into the darkness, apparently disinterested. He had already gleamed the gist of the story through peering into the man's soul and such a tale disinterested him. He'd seen it in the souls of hundreds before him, and there was nothing he could do about it now, thus leaving him little reason to care. When Marcus finishes Sai'if remains silent waiting to see if the discussion went anywhere interesting.

Marcus looked at Darren and with a sigh answered. "Am I glad? Maybe. Maybe not. The men that have fallen before me, I can not sympathize with. This...gift, if you can call it that, is not for men to understand. A man may but think of harming me, like many of them in the taverns across the land and all of them fall. I do not even remember striking them. One moment, they are stood, the next they are broken." Marcus looked towards the floor and the turned back to the host.

"Glad? I live, that alone is enough to have me contented. My family, they did not. That is all there is to it. Do I wish they were alive? Yes, but wishing won't make any difference. What has happened can not be undone and so I do not dwell on it. Though I can feel it, even if do not remember it, when I strike down a man. A cold burning fury, a deep seated hatred of all things. A darkness overwhelms my mind and...and I do terrible things." Marcus looked up, face returning to it's indifferent state.

The Host grunted at the wanderer's indifferent stare. "Hmph, I've seen the like before. Men engulfed by their anger, changed into something..." He hestitates, hand waving as he searches for the correct word. "...something 'Other' than themselves." The Host looks Marcus straight in the eyes, his face as soft as its leathery features would allow. "Some have been known to accept their fate, embracing the anger until it consumes their very soul. It's good to see that you've avoided that path..." The Host sucks softly on his pipe, allowing the smoke to billow and dance around him, "at least for now." He murmers through the haze.

Silence once again fell around the camp-fire, each considering the host's words from his point of view. Eventually Darren decided to change the subject from the darkness in Marcus's past, asking something he had been wondering.

"So where is Hark's bay exactly? For that matter, what nation are you originally from?"

Marcus laughed at Darren's question. "Harks bay hasn't been marked on any maps for many lives of men." He looked into the flickering embers of the fire, the light cast from it danced in his eye's and the blades hilt, sculpted like a dragon, seemed to move in the faint glow, the small ruby at the base of the hilt shone a bright red, as if the beast was breathing it's deadly flames.

"My Kingdom? I do not remember, it has been a long time since I heard the name spoken. I recall many years in the south farthing, in the lands of far plains and lush forests." He said. He disappeared into a memory, distant and clouded, of a time long past. "It used to stand on the coast, a harbour town so it was. It was built upon a field of battle. Named after a Captain that lived long ago, ten lives of men and more wouldn't date as far back." He paused and thought for a moment. "But that is irrelevant, do not ask for more because I've said too much already." With that, he turned away from the others, looking into the darkness outside of the camp.

Claudio speaks up once conversation dies down,

?You are just as much a hypocrite as those you condemn before your tale, do you realise this sir?? Claudio?s voice is calm, his words picked carefully, yet without hesitation, ?You speak of scholars, of thinkers who do not understand what it is to actually kill, because they have not lived that life. But taking from your own advice, how do you know what these men have done before they are seated before warm fires with brandy in hand??

Claudio runs his hand through his short hair, ?The simple answer is; you don?t know. I would agree that many of the sages and philosophers I have met throughout my time in the great cities are ignorant to the ways of the warrior that they judge. Unfortunately some ? men such as you ? are ignorant to the ways of the thinker.?

?Please, do not misunderstand. You have clearly been educated to a certain degree at one time or another, otherwise you wouldn?t use such rhetoric; words such as ?relativist? and what not.? Claudio?s arrogance betrays him, he begins to smirk, ?Tell me, you hate faith and religion because of things that have happened to you. Namely, to understate the fact, the atrocities of this ?cult? you mention. But not all religion will burn a village to the ground for misguided reasons, right? Simply put, do you hate all religion??
