It's ok, but i hate all the people who are like "IT"S THE WORST SHOW ON TELEVISION AND DESERVES TO BURN IN HELL BLAH BLAH RAGE!!" - it's fucking annoying.

The first few seasons were really good, but like all shows it started going downhill. Now it just wastes time with joke whose punchline is that the joke is so long. That or cheap shots at Republicans.
it also happened to go downhill (from already not that funny) REALLY fucking fast, I can't even watch the new(er) episodes because it's so boring

I think it was rubbish at the start and even worse now. It's just The Simpsons ripped off by someone who doesn't really understand how humour works, and spends too much time trying to be "edgy". Political comment is fine, but it has to be handled carefully in a cartoon for it not to come across as boring, preachy and condescending, all things that Family Guy is in spades.
pretty much my thoughts

Stupidly funny.
It's entertaining for a while and when I'm in a specific mood only.

Personally, I think it's a lot better than The Simpsons. Sure, it may have gone on a long time, but it just isn't funny.

It's best watched in short bursts, but the two-hour-long marathons of it on TBS are annoying.

I never liked Family Guy. It tried to cash in on The Simpsons' cartoon sitcom appeal yet mixed up non sequitur humour with random pop culture references people not familiar with them (say, you know, foreigners?) will not understand and didn't try to innovate as South Park has by shooting for an adult demographic and borderline censorship.

Hell, Farlane just had to create another series with the exact same bloody theme. How original.

*Puts on critizizing fedora* Okay, see, there are a bunch of these people I happen to know that love this show. My sister tries to watch it, and has this really bad habit of using words whose meanings she does not know. This leads to very uncomfortable situations. Back to the show, I think it does what it does, I just don't like what it does. The person who made this thread is right, they do tend to fall back on racisim and insensitivity way too much. And violence. It might be just me, but I don't really find excessive violence funny. A lot of people do though, apparently. *Removes hat*

So, yeah. In a nutshell, I don't really like the show. It has it's moments, but you have to wade through piss water to find them.

Family Guy is inconsistent. It's a ripoff of the Simpsons. The jokes are recycled much like how South Park creators describes it: Manatee in a tank picking random word bubbles based on nouns, adjectives, verb and adverb. Plus, the characters make me want to be unsympathetic.

Of course, this is like Penny Arcade > Ctrl Alt Del over again since CAD can't write up a proper joke the same way Family Guy writers do as well.

It has its moments. I remember some of the scenes from early on the series.

"Tonight's safety word is Banana!" was the only time I ever laughed out loud when watching the series. The rest of the time I was amused. I enjoy anything with Cleveland Brown more than the other characters. I love the Cleveland Show.

I watch the show not because I find it funny but because I grew up watching cartoons.

It's not anywhere near as good as it used to be, but then again, what is?

Probably the biggest disappointments were Brian turning into a exaggerated douchebag liberal stereotype and Stewie going from "evil genius" to simply "gay".

I think it's crap, lowbrow humour that isn't funny, the Cleveland show is the same thing but everyone's black; so overall terrible

That is my opinion

Honestly, I don't know what you people are talking about. Family Guy has gotten funnier as far as I'm concerned, with the last two seasons being some of the funniest moments on television that I have seen.

As for its sick sense of humor, it acknowledges it and goes with it. For example, the climax of Peter stalking Connie led to him breaking the fourth wall and saying "What the hell do you care? It's a cartoon!"

Not to mention the recent episodes with Jesus, the re-uniting of Star Trek: TNG and the multiverse travel were hilarious to the Nth degree, and the sub-plot with the Improv group had me in stitches, since I've done improv in the past (Hell, I did it every day in class; I prefer to make my comedy on the spot.)

I loved the first three seasons of Family Guy, and now I cry a little any time season 4+ comes on TV.

And my ire for the Cleveland Show is... it's just inexplicable.

American Dad is harmless, but also painfully, painfully stupid.

Overall when you look at Seth Macfarlane's work, it makes me wonder who the hell watches TV any more, and honestly it makes me a little embarrassed to be human. Maybe I'm just too old (at 21) to get it?

It's not very forum-friendly to call everyone who likes something "stupid", but I just don't get it. I'm willing to admit it might be my damage, though.
