I am certain the lore was very interesting to get into if it wasn't coupled with a complete grindfest of a single player.

I started cheating just to speed my way through the content to continue the story and it STILL took too long. The game felt far too padded, like they heard an 80 hour epic game would sell well so they made 50 of those 30 hours you staring at the back of your avatar as they run across another cartoony coloured plain.

I see it a good first effort by a new developer. Of course, there will be no second effort given what happened with that fiasco. I enjoyed it well enough but it tended to bog down. I blame the crazy amount of side quests. The combat, while starting off pretty cool, did get rather repetitive. I played a full mage and after a while all I had to do was run into a group of guys, cast one spell to pretty much work everyone over, then a different one to polish off the stragglers. It's plenty long too. I say give it a go but keep your expectations low.

I liked the game.
It was fun to play in my opinion, and it did not get repetitive, because I either found something new with an implemented "this mountain/tree/castle is awesome" or I changed my spec before it got boring.
I really liked the world they built, it was interesting.
But hell, those characters, the protagonist as well, were boring as hell. So much cliche in one spot is almost hurting. But I bought the game and all the DLC because I liked the idea of an Action-RPG which allows respec with different playstyles. Did not care about the story though, it was generic and boring as hell (although it gave an excuse for the "kill everything mode", nice they thought about that)
But I really liked how you could really make a difference at the outcome of the side-quests (e.g. spider-forest)
This is where the game shines (So, do not follow the main story, do the other stuff)

IMO, that's one of the very, very FEW games that got the "Your character died, but guess what?" scenario down. I liked how the story played out, once you got around to doing the main quest. There are some memorable parts in the game, like the wolf that was turned human and then asked how humans got used to pants and some of the dialogue between the main character and the fate-weaver, but overall the game was decent. The crafting system, in general, could've used a bit more polish but was OK for a starting franchise. There were some glitchy parts in the game (that beginning Constable's eyes, cannot unsee) however, none of them that I encountered were game breaking.

I enjoyed it, and that's what counts after all.

Captcha: It is different

In some aspects, but then again, aren't we all Captcha?

I think if it had more interesting aesthetics and art style and a more interactable world and perhaps more interesting characters, it would've been better than Skyrim.

It was fun, but it got really boring for me after awhile. Most likely to me trying to finish all the side quests in the first play-through (probably not the best way to play the game).

Not seeing the MMO comparisons really...I mean it looks like WoW but the side quests are no worse than the radiant quests in Skyrim, the fleshed out ones (eg. the Spider Queen one) are just as good as the bigger fleshed out ones in Skyrim.
But there you've hit upon one of the biggest truths in gaming. People are fine with the "MMO-style" quests in Skyrim because it's Skyrim. It's only really "bad" here because...Well, because ponies.

It's also amusing to see people talk about the game being "generic" in various roles, because a lot of these people ARE Skyrim fans. Skyrim is pretty generic from cover to cover.

I'm not saying generic is good, but it's really funny when the fans of one generic game hate another game for being generic.

Hell, the Fateless One and the Dove-Aikin aren't that different functionally, structurally, or thematically.

Wise words here, although I would not compare the games as directly as you do. I think there is a lot of a difference of what they wanted to achieve with each of those games.

It was the game that started me on listening to podcasts or comedy shows while gaming. It works well, but the (side)quests are meaningless and boring, and however cool the story was, it wasn;t enough to convince me to keep playing. shame.

But it's pretty good. A lot of lore feels unimportant, but some of it is quite interesting.

Also I like the colours.

I liked it but never finished it, the game is a bit too easy and the quests are all virtually the same. Just go to location Y, kill X amount of enemies, and come back (sometimes with an item). The storyline I also found dull, I didn't care about anything that was happening to the characters or the world, same goes for the side quests.

But the game is HUGE and the combat is fun. I enjoy just exploring the world that feels like it goes on forever, there are so many regions in the game you can spend hours in just one of them. Overall I would give the game a 4/5, good but not great.

My cents? Don't get it for the story, but for the combat mechanics. All types of weapons feels different enough to provide a new experience and demand different tactics from you. Really fun hack'n'slash with a bit too few enemies.

I bought it fairly recently thinking I might enjoy it, it did have some good reviews. The combat was amazing and really fun but the game was let down by boring unmemorable design. It was colorful though. The story was a really good idea, where in a lot of fantasy it focuses on a character who is destined to destroy the great evil that will destroy the world, this game focused on a character who is the only one in the world to have no destiny and therefore can do whatever he/she wants, though it still failed to engage me unfortunately. The characters were less than interesting however and the script had little flare. The progression system was kind of rubbish, the skills felt completely pointless and I was stuck to find where to put skill points because I couldn't really find good use for the skills, where was the skills to improve combat or magic? I didn't want herbal skills, I buy all of my potions with all of the money I gained from loot during long side quests, which brings me to my next point: Long side quests. I fucking loved the long side quests, it gave me a back story on what was going on and I didn't have to go and deliver a letter or collect ten plants (much), I actually felt like I was changing the world in side quests as well as the main quest! That said though I found myself overloaded with quests and didn't know where to start.

Tried the demo, couldn't finish it. Quit right when I got to the first town. Just too damn boring. It also didn't help that at the start it shows you're allies are idiots.

"We don't know why the enemy is attacking here! All that's here is a graveyard and a device that can bring dead people back to life!"

Really? You can't piece together why they might want to attack a graveyard that houses a device that can bring things back to life?

But I stuck with it, went through the graveyard, found the combat decent enough. Did that little tutorial area, nothing too bad. Then I got to that old guy who was going on about me being the chosen one and all that crap and my interest plummeted more. I responded in the most smartass-way possible because I wanted to break up the monotony somehow. After his dull conversation I went to the nearest town which was full of people with predictable fantasy voices doing predictable fantasy things asking me to do predictable fantasy quests and I just quit.

Yeah yeah combat was decent enough, but if I'm going to be doing that for 20 hours or however long the game is, I'm gonna need a bit more motivation story-wise. And I was not motivated at all.
