And now on Slowpoke News...
OMG THE TITANIC TOTALLY, like, SANK!

But, seriously, I think SOME people think it's 'okay to hate because I was bullied'.

Get over yourself, you're not THAT important.
If you wanna 'combat bullies', find a more mature way of doing it.

Thank god you came along and clarified that. I was almost positive I had his post down and I really did want to comment on such a thorough out post, but last thing I need is a random biking dude face punching me for misinterpreting his ideas. That being said, I must say I quite agree with it. Gender differences are only really there when you make them there, for better or for worse. I say just be kind to everyone and treat people you meet with equal respect regardless of them being a dude or dudette. You're bound to make more friends that way and save yourself a lot of trouble.

OT: I got the gist of the "6 to 9" article guy, but he really, REALLY fumbled his words. You can't really go on a major rant about girls looks only to say "I only care about your mind." Maybe ranting instead about people who feign interest in something to take advantage of others would have come off as less sexist and a bit better to get behind, but what's there is there.

Good job on the comic too. Good little bit of satire to go along with a rather interesting subject. It took me a good two reads or so to see that Rainbow Dash chick was actually a chick though. That cigar really threw me for a loop.

Well setting aside what the comic is about, I would in its stead like to comment on the art style.

Twilight panel 3 is well weird with the lack of features of a "real" face. Creepy, but Fluttershy panel 4 is by far the worst due to the no cheeks mouth she has. That one I've an actual issue with. Mostly because it scares me, but also because it feels like cheating the drawing. "I'm terrible at explaining things so take with salt if you'd be so kind".

Now if you'll excuse me, and these fine ladies. We're off to see the artists corner. Good day sirs and ladies.

I'm a little ashamed to say that it took me a while to "get" what the strip was trying to say. The way I see it, it's about four things:
a. It sucks that bronies receive the abuse they get
b. It sucks that some people judge/harass others by their gender, particularily when they claim to be fans of something geeky.
c. For reasons described above, it's an awful thing that genuine fans get passed off as attention whores
d. Somewhere, a pathetic excuse of a human being has thought to herself that Sexual Harrasment Fluttershy is a genius idea for a cosplay just because bronies will HAVE to pay attention to her.

Panel 3 Twilight looks like it's supposed to be vaguely troll-facey. Not sure what's up with Fluttershy. She kinda looks like a muppet.

Somewhat valid art criticism aside, I'll take panel 1/6 Twilight out to a nice dinner any time.

May I say that I have never been sexually harassed by Flutter Shy but in such case I would in fact welcome it open arms.

Really if human fluttershy existed who wouldn't want to just give her a hug? d'aww....

People still watch that show? More so over, girls actually watch that show? Everyone I knew who was or is a fan of MLP was a male between the ages of 16 and 33. But I can still see you what you did there.
Hey I am a girl and I like the show a lot! As far as harassment goes it is sadly a darker side to conventions. I had a friend that cosplayed Nico Robin and her boyfriend almost murdered a guy for trying to take pictures up her skirt. As far as geek cred goes, it doesn't matter if you are a boy or girl, when you go to a con it is because you want to be around people who like the same thing and possibly expand your circle of friends with a common interest...nothing wrong with that. Anyways, people should be kinder and less pervy at conventions. Remember: Friendship is Magic! :)

It's amazing how many people here have completely missed the point of the comic.

It's not about ponycons specifically, it's about what female geeks have been putting up with at every kind of geek convention (be it for comics, games, movies or whatever) for eons. It's a gender-flipped version.

"That ass is magic"

This is the best quote on this comic that I have ever read and will ever read. Thank you.

This is a bad thing? Seems pretty awesome to me...
It's satirizing how women are being treated by male nerds for "not being real geeks" or "being attention seeking" when they turn up at conventions, do cosplay, or comment on nerd culture.

This seems quite obvious but this seems to have flown over the heads of 90% of the commenters here who, much like yourself, think that it would be awesome to be sexually harrassed and dismissed due to your gender.

Also, the anti-pony crowd have a habit of assuming all bronies are hipsters that only claim to like MLP:FIM "ironically" whatever the hell that even means. I've had people tell me that I only claim to like the show because of hype and that I just want attention. Apparently, other people know why I like the things I like better than I do myself.

I was assuming Grey knew people thought like that and used it to make a point.

I admit... I dressed my boyfriend up like Spike and had my way with him.

He didn't complain though.

Is empathy really that low around these parts?

This guy has nailed it - the comic is a reaction to the male "Geek Gatekeeper" crap that's going on. By gender-flipping the situation it becomes painfully obvious what's going on (or it should, apparently it's kinda wooshing over most heads).

As to the stereotypical "She can sexually abuse me anytime" responses - grow up. If you imagine you're into (Geek pursuit X) and you're consistently barred from talking about it/taking part in it because everyone just wants to make lewd comments you'd get pretty damn sick of it very, very fast. Add in some "You're not REALLY an X" comments and you're into raegface territory.

Oh dear god the amount of people commenting who failed to get the REALLY OBVIOUS POINT.
I wonder what would happen if someone posted "A Modest Proposal" to the Escapist...
Now, to be perfectly fair, the gist of A Modest Proposal's modest proposal was "You should probably eat babies." It was retarded.

The comic and the description accompanying it is within a certain realm of believably. I guess you could say it's the perfect satire if it fooled this many people.

Booth Babes are totally a different matter the industry needs to get rid of them to stop promoting this boys club mentality. I know you guys like them but they personally seriously make me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome (like I'm sure some oiled hunky guy in a speedo handing out flyers would make some of you guys feel). There's nothing like being reminded you aren't the main demographic in the most skeevy way possible.
On a serious note: I'd be very, very surprised if booth babes didn't make a lot of people uncomfortable, male or female. I know they make me uncomfortable due to the overly obvious marketing.

On a less serious note: I'd totally laugh my ass off if an oiled up hunky guy in speedo handed me a flyer. I vote that the next convention that usually has booth babes has them all replaced by speedo-men for one year and after that we get rid of em both.

All I see is the same damn double standard against males.

'TREAT US AS EQUALS', says the female.
'FINE, THEN OPEN THE DAMN DOOR YOURSELF', says the male.
'OMG WHY YOU GOTTA BE SUCH A HORRIBLE PERSON, says the female.
'..., ..., ..., ARE YOU HIGH OR JUST...WHATisTHISiDONTeven', says the male.
.
.
.
Are women treated differently then males at Cons?
YES...duh, and hamburger meat comes from cows NOT pigs.

However most guys I know don't treat women different because they have vaginas, it's because they act like boobs.
Dressing with all your 'bits' hanging out is going to get you stared it, it's called being a mammal with a health sex drive.
Getting pissed about it only makes you look like a idiot.

While it IS unfair that many/most, 'pretty' female geeks/nerds get 'called out', it's not JUST THE EVIL MALE POPULATION'S FAULT'.
When most guys are lambasted with stories and pictures of FAKE FEMALES FLAUNTING FAKE nerd-ish(?)...you just start getting USED to 'calling out everyone'.

It's not FAIR, but it's the way humans ARE.

Also:
This comic failed to 'deliver the point' because the guy wasn't dressed like a trap/whore/booth-stud (that's the opposite for babe, right?).

Also: Rainbow Dash is a gay and Fluttershy is her (lipstick lesbian) girlfriend.
Everypony knows this.

Jeez.
;)

Really? There's not one of my hobbies I wouldn't give up all social contact in for that kind of treatment, and there's little chance it would drive me away anyway. You can't just gender flip this one because you'd have to flip all sorts of ancillary things to go with it. The differences between male and female sex drives, how much more threatening males are, how much they get this treatment in general. Just making the treatment more obnoxious doesn't cover it.
