So, with the official retail launch of the Ouya less than a month away, what's the public consensus on the smallest next-gen console? Anyone else getting one? I'm going to buy one at launch and pick up the Final Fantasy 3 remake for it. Also grabbing Airtight Game's Soul Fjord when that comes out.

What about existing Ouya owners out there, how's the console looking at the moment? I've heard all the UI and controller lag problems have been patched out, how's it running now?

It has been released? I had honestly forgotten about that thing until I saw this thread.
If you were a kickstarter funder or pre-ordered it at a certain point(correct me if I'm wrong on this one) and or a Developer, they sent out early versions of it.

OT:I'd like to get one, 100$ isn't a paltry amount to me but it has the potential to be pretty awesome and if not-I have some little people I know who'd get a kick out of it as their first console so it's win-win as far as I'm concerned. Probably snake one at launch if I can find one in the True North Strong and Free.

I will be waiting like I do with all consoles if it has some decent games and performs well I will consider snapping one up but I am not really bothered by it to be honest nothing about it excites me or angers me at the moment and I am seriously skeptical of its staying power.

I backed it on Kickstarter and am still waiting for my shipment... So, yeah, already got one, technically.
No clue how it'll turn out, though. At the very least I can give it to my sister or something.

Its an interesting concept. Good to see them trying something different, the price point is great too, so it is a genuine alternative.

Doesn't have any games that interest me even remotely.
If they come out with a game that tickles my fancy, yeah. But other than that it appears to be just an interesting piece of technology.

While the idea of a free gaming console is nice, at the moment I don't see the appeal of buying one honestly. As far as my understanding goes, the Ouya will play Android games which I can play with my phone as well, so why would I pay another 100$ to do so on the big screen? What I'm trying to say, there are no real games announced that would actually make me want to buy one of these.
However, I'll see how it develops in the future, maybe I'll get one later on.

Got one on kickstarter. Thing runs a nice SNES emulator, which is great, because my TV has a huge input delay on standard definition and since it's a decent size it looks muddy as hell.

Now I can finally play sparkster again.

If they have an expanded version of games like "Plague Inc" they might be on a winner. That was a very simply game on my phone but it was quite a lot of fun. Nothing like playing the villian and in that case a customisable microbe designed to kill the as many people as you can.

What made it interesting was that you had to spread fast enough without drawing the attention of the human scientists so that you weren't cured, but then kill people fast enough that you didn't become obsolete.

I honestly don't see the point of the Ouya, it's like connecting your android phone to your television. Why would you do that?

I don't see the appeal in the product.

Much like with the Xbox One, PS4 and WiiU, it'll have to win me over with the games available as the years go on. For now my PC is doing a good job covering all my gaming needs.

I'm interested in the Ouya, but I feel that a $200 "deluxe" version would turn more heads right now than a $100 console. I think people aren't exactly looking for a powerhouse of a console, maybe just something that does exceed the capabilities of the PS3 and X360 but not by that much, but doesn't have a weird and necessary-feeling control scheme that Nintendo adopted with the Wii and Wii U - Ouya can very much win those doubting over the recent Microsoft and Sony offerings just by focusing on being able to deliver games on both the digital and physical front.

And those wondering about how the Ouya team can approach the physical front? Well, my suggestion is to use a modified USB or SD layout along with a specialized cartridge design. Yes, it's old-hat, but solid-state technology has gone so far these days that I expect that a 8-16GB flash drive, in bulk, will be under $10 by next year. That kind of price would be quite affordable and could beat Blu-Ray's loading times, and the oft-proven longevity of the cartridges will mean more satisfied owners in the many years ahead.

I can emulate N64 games on it and I don't have a smartphone. Also, it looks like it can emulate a ps1 and DOS games, so I got those libraries too. Plus the phone games look more interesting than the next gen games previewed so far. I can get GTA V and SR IV on the 360 anyways, plus did I mention n64 emulation? I can play super mario 64 without needing to actually have a copy of super mario 64. Also ocarina of time since I never had that either.

The next gen already looks stale. I mean, ooh, quantum break, the TV drama that walks like a game. EA sports titles, because it's not like you can get an old one and be happy. Call Of Duty Ghosts, because no one saw that coming.

PS4 offerings looked a little more interesting, but the ouya is going to have so much more games. So what if they're phone games? At least they'll be more innovative.

I am unaware of how the games(if any) will be delivered on the console. If its through the android market then i see no point on getting one cause i already have a android platform on my tv for even cheaper than a Bouya.if its the controller integration i also dont see a point since a controller can easily get hooked up on any machine.
Dispite its low price(ouya) a PS3 cost the same and has more games that outshine anything on android

I don't really see how they're going to "beat a Blu-Ray". I highly doubt they would ever have a game that is big enough to even put on a Blu-Ray. We're talking about android esque games, you know the ones that people download on their phones in a minute or two. We're not talking about full fledged several gig games.

Nah. I know it's not JUST phone games on your TV, I'm aware the Android OS can handle more, but that's all they seem to be showing off right now, so until they prove the system can handle something with a little more power or depth I'm not buying in.
