Final form of Sir Sweet in Prinny--you only have 2 minutes and he has no shields so taking him down is like impossible! I can't really think of any others but if I do I'll remember to post.

Dark Shiva. Final Fantasy X.

I beat the Dark versions of Valefor and Ifrit by using a mitigation tactic of Auto-Life. But when Shiva attacks she dispells that.

The fight with Ifrit took me 45 minutes due to using this Auto-Life tactic. But Shiva ended me in 1 minute 13 seconds.

I know there are probably tougher ones, especially on tougher difficulties, but even on easier difficulties this one was fuuuucking impossible for me-

-Xaldin from Kingdom Hearts 2. You couldn't dodge his attacks, and most of the time you couldn't even hit him. Pretty much all of the other boss battles I can think of at the moment weren't too difficult, but this guy crushed me...

TL;DR - tough boss battles.
Xaldin asn't that bad... wait, never mind, I'm not a good judge of these things, since I grind way too much and was way overleveld for this fight (incidentally, this is the reason why I will never touch an MMO. I'll never stop if I do).

Anyway, who is a really hard boss, practically impossible... well, any boss in the Ninja Gaiden series if you aren't good at the game, for one (i.e: myself).

I got it. Ran Yakumo from Touhou 7: Perfect Cherry Blossom (she's the Extra stage boss). For excellent players, they just tear right through her, but I can't even get past her first spellcard.

I'm not very good.

Also, Sepiroth in the first Kingdome Hearts. 2 was generally easier than 1, even on hard mode (I think it was the refilling Magic bar).
Of course, Ran can't be nearly as bad as Yukari (by virtue of being the Phantasm boss). Haven't reached her yet because of Ran though. Extra stage bosses have unholy amounts of health.

OP and those who agree: Reflect magic is your friend. You don't even have to spam it, really. Sephiroth is only hard because he has massive amounts of health too, but a decent lvl 70+ player can beat him in a few tries (Kingdom Key run FTW). It's a shame he's immune to magic.

Guys who say Megaman Zero: Only hard because the game forces you to get a good rank just to copy the boss techs. If that wasn't the case, then it'd be infinitely easier.

Neslug from FFX when underlevelled and not using Wakka's special.
'You knock 33% of my life off? Well i'll now only take 1 damage and heal 10,000 a turn'

LOST. FUCKING. PLANET.

How THE FUCK am I supposed to kill a giant FUCKING spider when I have all of this shit against me?

-"Thermal energy", AKA timer
-Unavoidable attacks
-Pin attacks, AKA once you go down, it keeps attacking you until your dead
-Little baby spiders
-NO DAMN AMMO
-Ridiculously large health bar
-Underpowered weapons
-The boss's ONE weak spot is on its' back, AKA the ONE DAMN PLACE YOU CAN'T REACH!

Damn! I HATED that game!
So many bad memories.....
That boss was not bad, the final boss was terrible, with the random energy discs that do nothing and the crazy drift. Ugggghhhh!

I would say Gigantaur from FF13, but then I got 4 kaiser knuckles and it was easy, so much for that =/ Can't honestly pin down a boss to contribute to this thread now that I think about it.
I've always been pretty good at Ninja Gaiden so I can't pull that old card.

Note (just information): Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is actually more difficult than NG2.

Oh, I forgot. Going back in time. Jade Empire.... Uggg. The final boss was EVIL!!! You had to stun him constantly, then switch to an attack style to do damage. Then, he used a slow time thing with his focus and tore through your health with a sword. Heck, I remember smacking him constantly with the weak stun attack.

Crawmerax Solo. It would be different if you didn't die from one hit. Even as a level 61 I couldn't beat him. (Soldier)
Only Lilith can effectively solo him. Some revolver Mordecai hunters can, but it takes a bit of luck. A well played Lilith should have little to no trouble. Tag an area, phasewalk to safety, tag him some more. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Can't think of any impossibly hard bosses, can only remember one that made me furious with how stupidly unbalanced it was. Prototype, Elizabeth's giant tentacle form boss. If you stay on the ground all the idiots shoot at you, and not the GIANT TENTACLE BLOWING CRAP UP. Not to mention she has a plethora of really stupid AOE attacks. Had to race up a building, snipe down at her with objects, then power drop when she was exposed and lay in. Not fun.

[edit] Hadn't read much of the thread yet when I posted this. Nice to see other people share my seething hatred of Elizabeth Greene. Such a badly designed fight.

Yeah, Xaldin was a pain...
But hey, while we are talking about Kingdom Hearts 2, try Sephiroth for a spin. I lasted about 3 seconds. I eventually managed to beat him, but, thank God he is optional.
xaldin is still harder in my experience though.
sephiroth had quite an easy routine to overcome. (it's true that the first time you will die in 3 seconds. nothing to do about it)

Ares in god of war still bothers me, i could never figure him out. i played the whole goddamn game on hard or god/titan whatever it's called. yet i had to set it down to easy to beat Ares.
that was a bust in my pride.

How about the final boss from Final Fantasy II? Sure he becomes REALLY EASY if you cheap him out with the blood sword, but otherwise you have a very difficult fight ahead of you.

Here we go again...

Anybody who knows me from the forums will know of my hatred for this bastard:

Impossible...stress-inducing...Gah!
I just had a flash back to that boss...

Seriously, that thing can go and rot in hell for its cheap insta-hit unavoidable status effects.

At that stage in the game you had about 2 Remedies, it was stupid...
i killed him on my first try. and even thought it was easy.

later on i started over tried again and died numorous times. (do not use quickenings, useless against this bastard)

I'm sure I'll get plenty of "lol you noob!!11!" from saying this, but one of my most memorable impossible bosses is Shiro Tagachi, the final boss in Guild Wars: Factions. I know there are builds set up specifically to beat him and he isn't even that hard if you use one correctly, but for the life of me I can't do it by myself. He always ends up banishing my whole party, then stabbing me in the face until I die. It never fails.

Most of the late-game bosses from Star Wars; Clone Wars for the Nintendo Gamecube had to be impossible without the use of unlimited health and ammo. You could empty everything you had into these floating juggernauts ten times over and nothing would happen to their health, and there was only ever one or two refills in each area. Praise the gods that Nintendo Power printed cheat codes back then...

Sephiroth on Kingdom Hearts 2, i was at the maximum level, i had all the best stuff, and i was STILLLL MASSACRED 20seconds into the fight!!!
It really isn't hard.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bFG1eCoVao

He always starts with the same move so spam triangle at the beginning for the reaction command, when he says "Descend Sin Heartless Angel" make sure you hit him before he finishes otherwise your hp is drained to 1.

When he starts using the spells use reflect to bounce them back at him.

Other then that just wail on him endlessly.

In Dragon Quest 8. The Dragovian Trials, I beat the whole game and started doing those. Sure Im not max level and everything but I got stuck at the second prick. And there are 7! D:
Slime Hill + Yangus' Executioner = Mad XP = Slightly easier

Also probably didn't have the best armor/weapons but considering that was optional meh.

The demon at the end of Icewind Dale. Casts dispel as soon as you enter room then activates two top level golems to help him out.

Not impossible, but hard.
