I can agree with that, from a certain point of view.
No, fair enough, I respect that opinion. However, back home we've got several of Oasis's albums and one of my housemates is a massive Oasis fan, so I've heard quite a lot of their stuff. Not all, but a lot. I still thik they're overrated. Don't get me wrong, they were a good band. I just don't think they're as good as everyone said they were when they split up during V Festival. Personally though, I think that them splitting up is what caused all the rave reviews and comments, because it was more publicity for them in a way, and such a big thing to happen.pete240 said:too be fair though i bet you've only listened to a fraction of how many songs they have released and by the way i'm not having a go, i'm just putting my opinnion across.Trivun said:(sings) "I got a feeling (woohoo) that tonight's gonna be a good night, that tonight's gonna be a good night, that tonight's gonna be a good good night..." ;DVaar said:Personally I hate black eyed peas now.
How hard is it to get at least 3 lines of differing lyrics people?
STOP SAYING THE EXACT SAME THING FOR THE ENTIRE FREAKING SONG
I am cruel.
Anyway, my overrated band is Oasis (cue Kanye West storming on): "Hey Oasis, I'm real happy for ya and I'mma let you finish, but... (cue Liam Gallagher giving him a Glasgow Kiss and knocking Kanye's sorry ass all over the stage at V Festival - oh, wait...).
Seriously though, Kanye West is pretty overrated (the guy's a bit of a douche, and I never really liked his music much anyway, to be honest). That said he rates himself the highest anyway. And Oasis are great, fair enough, but they only came out with a few really good songs. They're a good band, true, but they don't deserve the massive amounts of adoration they seem (correction, seemed) to get. I'll miss them now, but there was never any need for the massive publicity they got when they said they were splitting up.
It wasn't a great song the first time you heard it? And how does Kashmir not age well? One of the greatest riffs and melodics I have ever heard.Superior Mind said:Stairway has lost pretty much all it's appeal to me, blame overplaying.Nazulu said:I don't think you listened to them at all if you really think songs like Stairway to Heaven and Kashmir aren't great songs.Superior Mind said:Led Zeppelin. Kind of like Nirvana in that there are people who think they're the best thing to happen to music ever but really they don't have all that many good songs. Good, sure, not great.
As for Kashmir - it's cool and all but it hasn't aged well. That's probably Led Zep's problem; their songs don't age well.
This. Dragonforce is a terrible band, half of Guitar Hero's charting is keyboard and the band itself sounds all the same on each song. They also sound like total shit live. Yes they somehow manage to be praised by far too many people versus good bands that should be getting that praise.LooK iTz Jinjo said:Because they are. Best Metal band of all time.pete240 said:metallica i think ... they have allfew goodawesome songsbutand everyone makes out that they're practically a gift from godwhich just isn't true =|
OT DragonForce. They have all of 2 songs, everything sounds the same, go away the only reason you got anywhere was because of guitar hero was overdone anyway. It's not as hard as the game makes it out to be. Sure its hard, the guy can play give him that, but they could be making such more meaningful, better music.
The first time I remember hearing the riff it was Jimmy Page playing it for Puff Daddy in that godawful Godzilla movie so that might have taken the sting out of the original Kashmir's tail. It remains a good riff but I still say that Led Zep hasn't aged well. Look at Pink Floyd or The Who or even The Beatles, most of their songs sound as good today as when they were written. In my opinion time hasn't been quite so kind on Led Zep.Nazulu said:It wasn't a great song the first time you heard it? And how does Kashmir not age well? Radiohead have a different style that people love, what the hell is wrong with that?Cerrax said:Radiohead (seriously, there are so many more bands to be paying attention to in alternative than these guys)
Why? Does that mean we can't enjoy there music or does it mean to you that their songs can't entertain people anymore?Cerrax said:The Beatles (Only half the band is even still alive. Get over it already)
Well thats your poor opinion. Psychadelic rock and all other types of music need great riffs in order to be great.Cerrax said:Pink Floyd (Actually psychadelic rock in general gets way too much credit. There's a lot of ambient and downtempo electronic that has been been pioneering soundscapes and other strange effects for decades)
Yeah your right, it's more of a shit stirring list.Cerrax said:One should not mistake this list as a hate list. I like all of the bands I mentioned (except Metallica), but they get way more credit than they deserve.
I can't see how unless you have terrible quality versions of their songs, they sound great or even greater than ever like many other rock bands back then.Superior Mind said:The first time I remember hearing the riff it was Jimmy Page playing it for Puff Daddy in that godawful Godzilla movie so that might have taken the sting out of the original Kashmir's tail.
