honestly I wasn't bothered r anything by it, as a matter of fact my reaction was mostly "holy fuck she can take off the chest piece and not phase out of reality/time!" see that to me was a big reveal. A girl kissing her girlfriend is so common to me that I don't even care anymore :/

people need to chill and I'm glad Blizzard had the balls to make their poster girl a lesbian. Most companies save those roles for secondary or third characters. Tomb Raider reboot played around with the idea but turned away from it because fan fantasy needs to be protected.

Haha, poor McIntosh wanted a good ol' trucker-dyke Zarya. I mean, she's the only woman in the game not designed for the male gaze, right? Even Ana has that smoking Legendary skin.
Pretty sure he would have whined for like 90% of the characters. 99% of the stuff I've seen from that guy seems like outrage-baiting.

He's like a weird inverted version of Milo.
It's nice to see him getting taken to task by actual lesbians who are all "Be quiet and let us enjoy this"

My favourite part was when someone asked him "how would a female character who is supposed to appeal to lesbians look differently than one who appeals to men?" to which he replied "I'm definitely not the right person to ask about that."

Ugh, one vocal minority of people way too happy and the other vocal minority way too mad, and both are equally annoying. I'm just going to stick to the majority and not care about something irrelevant.

I dont understand why the sexuality of a fictional character even matters? How is that relevant to the game? Does it make any difference to her character than before the reveal?

People are idiots.

I don't know whether to post this in the Politics section or the Gaming section, but I'm posting it here anyway.

So yeah. Tracer is apparently lesbian, and the Overwatch forums are like the Battle of Stalingrad right now. I think it's fair to say I'm astonished, not by the reveal, but by the fanbase`s extreme reaction to having their cover-girl waifu getting "yanked away from them"

Thoughts?
You could had post it in the Gaming Industry Discussion. But, you'd probaly get a different response there.

--the creators are wrong! It's just an extension of a problem gamers refuse to address. For other examples of this in action, see Mass Effect and Metroid.
Err...In metroid's case it was more that the writers for Other M went against everything that the character was already established to be, including the game that Other M was supposed to be a prequel to, even outright making in-your-face contradictions (Ie, "As someone who dislikes following orders, this is the second time I've had to do so" VS "Taking orders from Adam again, it filled me with exhilaration").

It would be like making Sonic secretly a Machiavellian authoritarian dictator instead of his established ADD-ridden reckless fun seeking self. It would be like making mario an evil kidnapping sorcerer who turned bowser's wife into the Princess so he could do terrible things to her and pull her strings to rule the kingdom. It just wouldn't fit at all.

If you're going to make a character completely break established character, you'd better have a damn good reason for it, and Other M completely did not.

I'm always up for a little forum drama, so looking forward to giving the blizz forums a good read later on.

I'm still of the opinion Tracer makes a rather good choice for a lesbian character (though i still maintain pharah x mercy as my OTP), so i find it hard to believe people are somewhat surprised by this. Zarya would have been a horrible choice for an outed gay character imo, oh she's a butch woman, so she HAS to be gay, eugh.

Oh wow, I just browsed through the Blizzard forums.

I haven't laughed this hard all week.

It's like Blizzard went fishing for dipshits and now I get to sample the catch of the day.

though sometimes its less cringe funny and more legit funny [https://68.media.tumblr.com/589f02d1f98d86480faf6b691237b0a4/tumblr_oiidfmZ3H51u5g8o1o1_1280.png]
I love how no one is focusing on the fact that Reinhart is a cuck, and that's why he's in the same home as Torb and the woman.... who is not Torb's wife btw but Reinharts. She's a hot wife. :p
well, last time we saw Reinhardt he was traveling around the county punching bikers with a younger woman

maybe they have an open relationship
You can punch bikers in the fact and still get off to your wife cheating on ya.

Human sexuality is a very complex, uh uh it might not be such a simple, uh... ya know?
Quick question...Where does it say that the blonde hair chick is Reinhardt's wife? It been stated that all the kids there are Torbs so I don't see how Reinharts a cuck...
XD It doesn't, that's just my interpretation of the cannon. T

*shrugs* maybe I'll be slightly more aggravated when fighting against her, but I'll be too afraid to express that aggravation for fear of coming across homophobic....

Nah. lol it's not like it's Mei... ohhh the anger and hate I have in my heart when fighting against Meis.

It will be nothing compared to the reactions to a male gay outing. I wonder if Blizzard are just testing the water for this though. Comics have a habit of leading to stranger shores.

There's a rule i think, that states if your harem has more than 5 waifus one of them HAS to be into girls. Yeah, almost sure that's a rule...
No reason to act surprised.

The amount of salt from these idiots is amazing, or it would be if it wasn't so embarassing. Out of 23 playable characters ONE is confirmed to be gay and you're up in arms about it? Fuck off.

Yeah the forums are full of hilariously whiny "But they shoved teh gayness in mah faaaceeeee!!! Why they have to have disgusting agenda waaah".

I laughed for a while, then got sad because gay people have to deal with these assholes in real life, which is suddenly no longer funny. :s

Not surprised. That guy's whole job is to be outraged by everything. -_-
I say just ignore him. He just wants attention.

To be fair its true. It doesn't necessarily mean she's gay...she could be bisexual after all, I've not seen anything explicitly ruling that out. That being said I don't think that'll improve things much for the homophobes. ^_^

How does one "magically become a lesbian"?
I almost googled "magical lesbians" for a moment then. Probably best not.

Anyway I'm very amused by all of this. Tracer is my favourite Overwatch character, the two of them are pretty adorable, and the absolute war going on on the Overwatch forums is highly amusing. So positives for me almost all round. :)

The only bad side I've seen is its brought those people out of the woodwork who are cheering because they hate certain pairings and throwing hatred at those who liked them. Which is...kinda depressing that people would rejoice in other people being a bit sad over their preferred pairing not being canon. How empty does your life have to be that you take pleasure from other people being sad over something that doesn't effect you in the slightest?

Idk what takes the cake: how bent up people get over an exclusively physiological trait being applied to a bunch of 1's and 0's, or the fact that more and more hipster devs feel the need to do so in the first place.
Apparently developers making a character gay makes them hipsters by default.
