just.......wow I thimk it's time we gamer's took a stand. we fight amongst ourselves over who's better ps3,xbox,pc ect, in a seemingly endless flamewar. But we let these shortsighted 'for your own good organisations' trounce all over us and all over game's themeselves as an expression of entertainment and art. Remember FOX news massive thing over the absolutely amazing MASS EFFECT 1's so called 'hardcore-full-frontal nudity sex scene's' (I live in the U.K so I heard a bit after it occured), but I was very insulted by the fact the media tries to project us as perverts and phycopaths which as most of you know is very untrue (I hope:p). so I think it's time we took a stand together against the morons that label us negativly so hopefully in the future we wont be so outspoken. (RANT OVER)

p.s who was that lawyer who claimed "I won as usuall" when EA pulled the name talliban out of MOH? he's the biggest dick ever!

You don't really pay attention to how the Supreme Court has historically dealt with free speech issues, do you, Andy?
Is that supposed to be a joke?

If I were a "thug" or a "bully" I'd be sure to do more than send them hate mail. Also, if I were to tell them what I really though of them, it would be a lot more heinous than "I support the first amendment."

I mean, hypothetically, if I were the sort of person who acted the way they think, I'd certainly throw a "temper tantrum" as they say and maybe, say, write an article that portrays those who disagree with me as ridiculous and potentially violent caricatures of themselves and attack them with underhanded blatant lies that depict them as amoral and dishonest underlings of good taste and irredeemable nature.

I would do that, but I'd be playing your game wouldn't I? No, I'll just put my energy into filing up my case so that during the debate I can speak with logic and fact. Keep up your childish blathering, my hobby and I will be over here, not bothering you. Unlike you frigid people, we'll be having some fucking fun. You're welcome to join us once you grow up a little.

HEY PTC
Give me your F***ing lunch money now
Did it work?
Did they run away?

Seriously PTC get a life and figure out the difference between Hate mail and a practical joke.
Or, better yet, learn the difference between hat-email and reasonable, non-violent, protest.

The people who are crazy get the most attention
And oddly enough, that's generally the people opposing us gamers. Maybe we need to do some crazy shit and people will pay attention!
I just shotgunned a bottle of listerine and I have this goat - let's save the games industry!

It might not be as crazy as the PTC, but it might give them pause - I'm at least willing to see things from their perspective i.e drinking mouthwash and goatfucking.
You have my shield sir.

Oh for fucks sake.

This is getting beyond stupid now. When will groups like the PTC realise that gaming isn't exclusively for children? Mature games are made with the intention of being sold to adults, or at the very least those who are able to process and understand the subject matter. Last time I checked, GTAIV was never marketed to kids, neither were any of the Call of Duty games. They were marketed in the same way mature films are, explaining the subject matter and letting the audience choose to play them. If kids got a hold of them, it's the fault of the fucking parents for not understanding the medium. All the PTC is doing is making the generalization that because it is a game it instantly correlates towards being childish, or at least intended for children.

Jesus Christ, how many of these groups and politicians are living in their own little bubble world, being unable to differentiate an entire medium? They would never dream of relating the latest Pixar or Disney flick to one another in terms of content and audience demographic, but because it's a 'video game' they think they're all going for the same audience. The game industry has gone all out to promote the differences between content suitable for kids and what is not, and yet they still get burdened with cunts like this.

Fuck the PTC. They should all go die in a car fire.
The most ridiculous part of this entire argument is the fact that an organization geared toward censoring television is targeting a far more regulated medium. With TV it could be argued that anyone with basic cable could expose their child to mature content simply by giving them access to BET, MTV, Spike, or any of the daytime "talk" show channels. By comparison, mature video games are very well labeled, not marketed to children, and sold in ways that prevent them from getting into the hands of a child by accident. The only way a ten-year-old can get a copy of GTA from a store would involve a negligent employee or parent. In essence, they target video gaming due to a lack of comprehension for the medium. This lack of understanding is also the direct cause of the games getting into the hands of children in the first place.

This entire situation is becoming an utter nightmare, and I hope the entire country comes to it's senses before a pissed off group of fundamental conservative fanatics disassemble the entire Bill Of Rights using the "think of the children" argument.

I'm proposing a new rule right now. It's similar to Godwin's law and deals with these situations.

"If anyone ever uses the "think of the children" argument in any political, religious, or censorship related argument, they have noting productive to say and are only attempting to further their agenda using manipulative means"

Violent thugs!?! I've see tv shows FOR KIDS that are more violent and more fucked up than some video games(flapjack anyone?), so SHUT YO MOUTH, parent's tv council. and if you think an industry standing up for the freedom of speech is wrong, you must also think we need to burn books to be happy!

Calling us violent thugs... makes me want to FUCKING PUNCH SOMEONE!!!!

Uh...ahem.

Yes they are indeed ignorant and this statement really shows them for how stupid they really are. "Selling sex and violence to children" so they're aren't age ratings on the boxes of games? Besides there are 2 GAMES WITH SEX IN THEM. GTA and God of War, and that is mild at best. There is worse stuff shown on TV at 9:00PM. Until this generation dies out and games are recognized as the diverse and excellent art form they are us thinkers can take some satisfaction in knowing that we are better than them. Well, smarter at least.

It's funny how they mention things similar to Grand Theft Auto, nothing like games currently coming out. Why are conservatives just so crazy?

As a supporter of the video game industry I suppose I am a thug then?

We need to show the world that these claims are false by proving we are neither a thug nor a bully. As I have no idea how to do this I am all for upgrading our status to mafia, who wants to go break some kneecaps for respect points?

Let them cry in their bubble world about how our medium is bad, we will fight. When they die and we become the major tax payers we can get our games back and torment those younger than us. Politics is the ultimate Lord of The Flies.

it's called age ratings! or has their blind hate destroyed their ability to process numbers? 18 = not for your 7 year old snot nosed git! Gaming isn't just for children's enjoyment, games have been aimed at adults for years now. It's a form of media as vital as films, music, all of that.

If you're worried about your kid playing things like GTA, it's your own fault for letting him convince you to get it! I'm aware some game shops don't give a damn about age ratings, but it's the shop staff's fault, not the game developer's.

I'd say do an online counter-petition, but those are about as effective as putting out a burning building using molotov cocktails.
