From Dtoid: http://www.destructoid.com/bulletstorm-pc-requires-persistent-internet-connection-192844.phtml

Fans of PC DRM have something to celebrate today, with news that Bulletstorm will demand a constant online connection in order to be played. More like Bullshitstorm, right guys?

It seems Electronic Arts is going to "pull an Ubisoft" while "protecting" People Can Fly's ludicrous shooter from common thieves. The news comes from EA's own product disclosure page, where it states, "PERSISTENT INTERNET CONNECTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT REQUIRED TO PLAY."

You'll also be thrilled to know that the game (which already snubbed the PC by not releasing a demo outside of consoles) demands use of Games For Windows Live, better known as the worst thing to happen to PC gamers since carpal tunnel syndrome.

PC gaming. You have to love it.

[Update: People Can Fly has denied this. Apparently somebody at EA screwed up somewhere and wrote down the wrong DRM on the company's product disclosure page. People Can Fly is looking into the mix-up. The official line is that the 'net is only required for initial registration.

Also, nobody has yet denied the mandatory Games For Windows Live chicanery.]

Well this sucks, I don't have a problem but I do know many will have a problem.

this will clear some things up.

I've left a comment on your thread regarding the Bulletstorm DRM, and I've checked it out since this is odd for EA - Bulletstorm is part of EA partners, all they do is handle distribution and provide an advisory service, they don't stick their dick into developer's business unless something is looking really messed up.

Who in their right mind would be a fan of DRM?

It's obnoxious, intrusive and only hurts legitimate users.

Well, sucks to play on the PC, then.
I wasn't going to get this game anyway, but it is disappointing to see such idiotic systems implemented.

Ahh, now I remember why I felt a chill when I heard EA was associated with Bulletstorm.

Well, there it goes away from my 'games to buy' list.

Wait, wasn't Mark Rein telling us this was going to prove how much they like the platform?

Epic lulz. Let's all wait to see the stupid twat complain when no one buys it on the PC.

I know I fucking won't be.

Also, THIS IS NOT EA's DOING. Bulletstorm is a part of the EA Partners program, all they handle is distribution, this is EPIC's decision.

This news in mind, it does not seem like they want people to buy this game for PC..

I've more than on 1 occation dodged games solely on the fact that "games for windows live" is rewquired.

This is a conspiracy against the glorious pc gaming master race!
In order to oust the PC as the supperior gaming plattform, they introduce DRM that makes it such a bad idea that people will flock to the consoles!

Edit before flame: I´m joking, obviously.

I just fail to see any sane reason behind crap like this.

No way in hell I'm buying this now. Wanted to try out a demo to see how well my pc could run it and then consider buying it. But hey, since I can't do that, and they've now fucked everyone over, I'll be glad to not buy it at all.

So it took a while to crack the Ubisoft DRM, bets on this one? It'll take much less time I think. 3 days.

Hooray for consoles (if only because of crap like this).

I got as far as "Games for Windows LIVE" before my face exploded with rage. Earlier this week games for windows live decided I needed to remind it if I own Fallout 3, even though I have clocked TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY EIGHT BLOODY BLEEDING HOURS on it. And thats on this computer alone, I probarbly have spent about 499 hours on it in total and yet Games for Windows FAIL is like "grrr your attempts to buy products legitimately and then be allowed to play them fills me with rage!"

I had very little interest in this game anyway so all this announcement did was poor sand on any sparks of interest that remained.

Not that I care about this game one way or the other, but... I give it two months before someone reverse-engineers this into a more stable product.

...way to encourage piracy, EA...
