PC Elitists/Console Fanboys

I have noticed over the past couple of days that Console players and PC players have been at each others throats over the Multiplayer decision in MW2.

I for one think that all the fighting over this is silly. In reality a Gamer is a Gamer. It doesn't matter of one plays the PC or Consoles or both. We are all gamers in the end and should embrace the fact we are all gamers. Not be fighting over something a game company does.

What do other Escapist users think of the infighting gamers have been doing since the announcement?

Your one hundred percent completly right, a gamer is someone who buys and plays games, it doesn't matter if they use consoles or a computer.

However it's not like we can do anything to stop the fighting, people will be people. Unless of course you count fanboys as people.... are they?

But if you have to fight somebody, instead of fighting eachther, take the fight to IW. We are stronger together

I just think it's really, really, odd.

It's petty fighting really but in all reality the whole "They're both gamers" card doesn't work. It's like going to the US army and saying "Terrorists and soliders are both human, stop your fighting".

I dislike seeing games fight though. They should be allies!

Sure, PC gamers have advantages over Console gamers (Mods, DLC, ect) but Console games have advantages over PC gamers (No need to upgrade hardware) so yeah.

Were gamers, we should not be fighting each other. We should join together as a community and live in perfect harmony.

Having a hissy fit and/or whining about the decision is stupid. If it pisses you off all that much, just don't buy the bloody game. If you're taking it THIS seriously, you aren't treating gaming like a hobby/enjoyable pastime.

As far as I'm concerned, you shouldn't get any benefits from playing a game depending on what platform you buy it on. A game is a game - you should get near enough the same content no matter what you play it on.

Being called a lolboy or elitist dweeb or whatever doesn't really make any difference. I own a PC and a Xbox, so I really don't know what the hell is wrong with these people.

As for the IW's stunt.

They arn't doing anything new really. Just look at Steam. The only difference between IWnet and Steam(for hosting games) is that IW don't support dedicated servers, which Steam does. IW's "fix" doesn't solve anything, unless selling a bit less PC games is a good thing.

OT: Ya, I guess it has been bad lately. I've mostly just said that they should leave it out of the pc version because there's no reason for it and ignored what everyone else said unless they quoted me.

I can't believe I'm actually quoting Max, but I have no choice this time. He's got this one pegged down to the bone. It's human nature for two factions of equally fervent belief to be at each other's throats for no reason other than that they believe something different. That will never change.

Max pretty much has this one pegged. People with strong opinions one way or the other tend to think that their opinions are fact, and freak out on people who don't agree.

I guess I don't have particularly strong opinions about gaming, because being a fan of a particular console has never made sense to me. They all have their merits and flaws.

I think it's funny. But I find most whining and infighting funny because it doesn't really matter. As for the MW2 PC multiplayer thing - I think what Infinity Ward has done is good, everyone should have a similar experience no matter what they are playing on, it is their game and I guess what they are saying is they didn't make it just to be modded, just play it they way it's supposed to be played and get over it, you never know you might enjoy yourself. PC players seem to think that keyboard/mouse is better and they still have that so I don't see what the problem is.
