Difference between the two is though that most of the people you call "PC Elitists" usually play games for 15+ if not 20+ years already and also have had and played several console games, usually even tried those "Next-Gen" consoles or have one of them and don't like them very much.
They've been avid gamers for years, supported gaming companies everyone knows nowadays by buying their stuff when they needed it the most and made them grow "big" (they've been through the times when games were made by gamers for gamers just to see them become corporate money-grubbing whores pulling shit all the time) and might even have some modding or programming experience on their belt themselves.

While "Console fanboys" usually started "gaming" when their parents bought them a X360 or XBoX and haven't really tried anything else, with their favorite game being something like "Halo" or "Metal Gear Solid". They don't care for or have the technical knowledge to try PC gaming, usually they also fight amongst themselves e.g. SONY vs. Microsoft (not caring that it's only a business for those two and all that "Exclusive" bullshit is just a marketing stunt to make more cash while making the "gamer" pay more and nothing else) and always seem to spout something along the lines of "I dun caer they b cumpanies, I still buy even if they taek a dump in the gaem box cause is Halo!!!" without having a basic understanding of what it entails for the future of gaming as a whole or company policies and don't seem to care much if a game gets ruined or they're being ripped off by marketing people.
Generalising MUCH!?

p.s. If you feel the need to modify the game to make it playable/enjoyable, why the hell are you wasting your money on buying it?!

An idiot fanchild with a PC is no different than an idiot fanchild with a console or vice versa.

It's still an idiot fanchild.

Having a hissy fit and/or whining about the decision is stupid. If it pisses you off all that much, just don't buy the bloody game. If you're taking it THIS seriously, you aren't treating gaming like a hobby/enjoyable pastime.

As far as I'm concerned, you shouldn't get any benefits from playing a game depending on what platform you buy it on. A game is a game - you should get near enough the same content no matter what you play it on.
I can't see the big problem with being annoyed about the IW fiasco. It's because we enjoy our hobby we are disgruntled after all. We like gaming so we take it badly when others try to ruin it for us. Simple as that. I'm sure any enthusiast, be it for games, cars or knitting would be pissed if people try to hinder the enjoyment.

And as for the last part. I can agree that we should all get as good games as possible. It's just beyond me why you would dumb down the pc game instead of actually getting the console game up to scratch and give the console gamers a good experience.

this "feud" between pc and console is silly, and its completely unfounded.
I've actually taken pictures of the real-life forest near me and posted it on forums, the i lied and sad it was a screen shot from crysis 2.
and within seconds i was flamed by pc fanboys that claimed that the graphics sucked compared to the original Crysis.
I am Not kidding !!

Yes I agree and it is stupid I would have been on the pc side of the arguement and I have to say that I know bad remarks to consoles were made but a lot of ignorant illinformed comments were made about the boycott.

Fair enough with having an opinion but with some people saying stuff like PC has it too good for too long instead of complaining about other games why not complain to Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo and get yourself more rights.

I don't see why yous can't get free DLC and what not I mean would be more annoyed that I couldn't get dedicated servers and free mods than complaining about someone else getting it if you see what I mean.

Because the dire fact that fanboys and elitist exist for their masters. Especially companies who need to make money off them.

Excellent picture, makes me all warm and fuzzy.

OT: I don't feel that the MW2 business has so much to do with arguing. Just that IW was thick enough to not listen to its customers and change something that we didn't want to be changed. PC-gamers has been playing with server list since the dawn of time and why change something that works perfectly fine? Or more sane, why don't throw in both options?

Well! We should all look at it from a happy perspective, now the PS3/360 fanboys are getting along for once! It's like what Rush Limbaugh does to democrats and republicans, making people unite for the cause of hating! :D
Is it bad that this hit me earlier today, too?

Meh, I have a gaming PC (which PC gamers have been telling me I can't possibly have!), a 360, a PS3, a Wii, a PSP, a Mega Drive and a Dreamcast. If I'm a fanboy of anything in that list, it's the Mega Drive. What gets me is when you have PC Elitists claiming that they are getting the "inferior" console experience.

No. It's not worse, it's different. Fuck, it's not all that different either, you still point your imaginary gun at a complete stranger and pretend to kill them with bits of imaginary metal propelled by imaginary powder.

If you had ever played something like WarCraft 3 on the PC you wouldn't be asking that question...
See, I'd agree with that if it wasn't for the fact that the entire player base of DOtA makes the Battle.Net crowd look tame, inviting and friendly by comparison.

Also, I decided to try to download a single mod for Fallout 3 last night - I just wanted a character with long hair. Before I could download the mod for long hair, I had to download the mod for a bunch of new outfits. Fair enough, I thought. To get the mod for new outfits, I had to download a mod that made every woman in the world have realistic breasts. Who the fuck makes things like this? It's actively driving me to play on my consoles more.

This.
I am a champion of the light. With PC in my heart. I know the path before me will be beset by the decievers and lost souls but I will overcome, neverswaying from a true way of glory.

I game pre-dominantly on PC for these reasons:

a) I spend a ton of my time at a computer anyway as an engineering student constantly using Excel/Mathcad/MatLab
b) I mostly play single player games, and the multiplayer ones I play with my friends are often over STEAM
c) More control options. If I want to play with a controller, I can use my 360usb controller. If I want mouse and keyboard, I can use that.
d) Less I have to buy

In reality a Gamer is a Gamer. It doesn't matter of one plays the PC or Consoles or both. We are all gamers in the end and should embrace the fact we are all gamers.
Even if your a Wii only gamer? ;P

I have noticed over the past couple of days that Console players and PC players have been at each others throats over the Multiplayer decision in MW2.
PC players are mad because they are having control taken away from them.

It's standard for a pc game to show you all the servers and let you pick one based on who's playing, personal preference, gametype, ping and so forth.

Matchmaking looks at the available servers based on your filters and then decides what's best for you. My experiences of matchmaking on L4D pc and Xbox Live consist mostly on getting dropped into empty servers and/or screaming shitheads with names like kill411t3hj3wn1gg4z. It shouldn't take more than one attempt to find a good game.

Matchmaking systems are also extremely hard to admin effectively, team killing fucktards and cheaters hardly ever get banned until days after they ruin your game if at all. It removes the instant retribution pc gamers are used to from dedicated servers with designated admins.

There's no word on how it will handle mods and custom content either, it's going to be horrible playing a game with ten people downloading from the host. A self repeating cycle of lag/impatient disconnects. To say their won't be custom content is madness, it's a big pc game, there'll be custom maps within 48 hours of release.

Of course we have yet to see how MW2's system will work. If it can create an experience similar to dedicated servers, but based around friends and communities rather than server IPs, then it will work fine.

Ifthe end result is like Live or PSN but on your PC it's going to go down like a lead balloon. A title like MW2 will sell regardless but if it doesn't work smaller titles will be an insta-bomb purely on not having good multiplayer support.

Pinapples and Grapefruits. Some games are better suited for a PC while others are better suited for a console.

Sadly games across the board are increasingly dumbed down and generic, with a few exceptions.
