What I especially don't get is people who think removing dedicated server support is OK, because consoles don't get dedicated servers.

Maybe console owners should instead be thinking about why console games don't offer them an option for using dedicated servers and whether console gaming would be better if they did?

Why do you need an 'advantage' over consoles for? Yes, the no mods thing will suck, but the rest of it is pretty much dust and shadows.

Yes, dedicated servers work, but so does automatching. If Cod:MW1 had come out with automatching 'out-of-the-box', would you have been going as ballistic?

I can appreciate the feeling of losing a section of control, but think of it as enhanced realism:

Soldiers never get to choose their own battles.

Oh yes, be quiet because Infinity Ward doesn't "owe" you anything.
And likewise, we don't "owe" them a thing ourselves. We exchanged $50 of our money for a game that we paid for. Now, I don't owe that exchange to them at all, and I want them to know my reasons for keeping it.

Hey everyone, let's hate on people for NOT WANTING TO PLAY A VIDEO GAME. God they must be such PASTY NERDS.

I wasn't going to buy it anyway, so I guess I'm in. It's not like me not buying the game will actually make a difference though. I just find the Call of Duty games too dramatic and unrealistic for my liking.

I don't play games online so I don't care in the slightest about a lack of dedicated servers... As for no mods... well lets be fair here, its rare a game is modifiable these days. As much as we may say mods are a big one-up for PC gaming I can count on one hand the games I know from this generation that actually have a decent modding fan-base.

So it doesn't phase me, I'm still buying this game. Loved the first Modern Warfare's single player campaign even though it was short. Hopefully this one will be longer.

I wonder if appliance aficionados ever boycott Proctor-Silex for releasing toasters that don't meet their exact specifications.

hes right any game (GEARS OF WAR IM LOOKING AT YOU) that has dedicated servers and then goes to stupid matchmaking (DAMN YOU EPIC) in the sequel has never been a good idea and never will be a good idea

i dont get why gears 2 did have this shitty matchmaking anyway theres no reason to not have dedicated servers

Has anyone took lessons from L4D2 Boycott group? Unless you have people you know who work under there, it's hopeless.

Way ahead of you, I was already not going to buy it when I saw the gameplay footage.
Same with me. Better FPS games coming out in a short space of time. Bioshock 2 and Borderlands

boohoo no mods... you know what? thats fine. i've never put mods on the other COD games i've gotten, and i play them on a regular basis. no mods is not worth a boycott of a good game.

I hate having to sift through server lists when I just wanna put bullets into people in MW1. Call me a simpleton but I think the idea of letting an IW server give me an optimum match is pretty damn appealing.
I agree with this, however the thing is that matchmaking systems generally only work for small scale matches, such as in L4D. In MW2, there'll be up to... Is it 64 people? Yeah I think so... 64 people in a match maximum, matchmaking will not work for that at all.

That isn't the only reason people are pissed off, perhaps actually read the post in full? I can't be arsed explaining it to you, read the original post; it's all there

Not to mention, there is no reason for not having dedicated servers, absolutely none at all. They've always had them in the past, it makes no sense to stop having them now, especially since there are more people than ever interested in Call of Duty and its multiplayer. If they axed the servers for more money that just goes to show how much they no longer care about the gamer.
umm here's a reason...it's their company their game. They can do what they want. If it leads to less sells then they will have to deal with it.

For Fuck Sake! They shouldn't even be allowed to release a game with out all the best features, especially by todays standards! This is as bad as the SC2 battle net thing, they really don't give a shit anymore, do they?

I also hate it when people say "if you don't like it, don't buy it", it just goes to show you don't gve a shit what anyone else thinks! GOD! What the hell is wrong with people these days?!!

I hate to say this but boycotting is a bit fruitless. IW knows where the money lies and that money generally tends to lie with the console owning teens. The PC version is an after-thought.

It is rather lame how no mods and no dedicated servers totally bring down the PC version but boycotting isn't going to make much of a difference. If anything IW will end up dropping Modern Warfare games from the PC all together.

Besides, it's a good chance for you PC elitists to see what us console owners have to deal while you keep bragging about all your mods and awesome servers and such. A taste of your own medicine shall we say.

I don't really understand...

No dedicated servers? How do they plan to support multiplayer at all?

No mods? How is this a bad thing? In the history of the Call of Duty franchise mods were among the most annoying things I can remember.

Also, OP thinks he's V. lawl.
