I'm going to foray into PC gaming soon, and I was wondering if there were any recommendations for good games, I'm already planning on getting S.T.A.L.K.E.R or it's expansion pack(Which one should I get of those also) Any other suggestions for what I could play?

Note: While me PC is a nice machine that can run many games, I will not be playing Crysis with it any time soon

Get yourself steam and the the Valve complete pack.

On the surface it sounds like a hell of a lot of money (£100 US)

But consider this:
Half life, Half Life: OpFor, Half Life: Blue Shift, Half life 2, Half 2: ep1, Half life 2: ep2, Counter Strike & CS:Source, CS: Condition Zero, Day of Defeat & DoD:Source, Team Fortress Classic & TF2, Portal, Peggle extreme, Ricochet and Deathmatch classic.

For $100.

There's at least 100 hours of gaming to play with there, all with free (automatic) updates and a working friends/fav servers system. If you can run Stalker then none of these will present a problem to your PC.
Also, STALKER is better than Clear Sky, if only because it tells you the story from the beginning, rather than just dropping you in and expecting you to know what to do.

I really don't have an opinion on Stalker. I played it soon after it was released. To say it was a little buggy was an understatement. To quote someone else: "I played for a few minutes, then I sneezed and the game crashed." Apparently its better now, but I really haven't been bothered to see for myself.

On to some recommendations: If you're a fan of RPG's, consider looking at The Witcher. The developers have just released the "Enhanced Edition", which has improved it considerably. A word of warning, the game is quite violent. There is also nudity, but in most cases it can be avoided.

If your into RTSs then I suggest starcraft and sins of a solar empire(the last one has no real campaign but it's still fun), and the Age of empires series

if you like RPGs, the only ones I can think of would be the Elder scrolls series.

If shooters are you forte` then it's half life, (good choice of stalker btw)fear, and I can't seem to remember the last one...

These are all painfully obvious but still worth it.

FPS - Half-Life series, TFC2 (only online), Counter-Strike: Source (only online), Call of Duty 4...I dunno, I haven't been keeping up with my FPS's. Bioshock was fun as long as my computer could take it then the ol' girl had an e-aneurysm.

RTS - Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War (and expansions), Company of Heroes, Command & Conquer: Generals (I, personally, didn't enjoy C&C3), Homeworld 2, Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne, Supreme Commander (Forged Alliance too if your computer is beastly).

Oblivion was good and I never made it far into Morrowind because I get bored in western RPG's without other people to talk to.

I dunno, dammit, read the forums and buy some games then proceed to the fun.

RPG: The Neverwinter Nights series. I'm a sucker for those. Also Oblivion, but with MODs...and there are some amazing ones.
FPS: Half-life anything. It's been said...but it should be said again.
RTS: Sins of a Solar Empire. (No story, but who cares, the game can be so big it can take months)

Any of the Total War series. As long as it's ROME.
Oh come one, Medieval 2: Total War was pretty awesome. I personally liked it better then Rome, though you are right: The total war series is AWESOME. I can't believe I forgot about it! I own them all!

Could you list the specs of your computer?
I can play STALKER so I have alright specs, 5 gigs of RAM, which I hope is enough for some of this, I know it will help with the load times on STALKER btw, thanks for the suggestions, and the steam pack sounds cool.

5 gigs of RAM...Are you running a 64-bit OS?
Like I said, I'm a newb at PC gaming, I don't really have a gigantic computer that sucks out people's souls through it's disc drive, I'll upgrade later, I CAN run STALKER, the recommended RAM for that game is 1 gig, and my system meets the other requirements, so I'll be fine, and all you PC gamers, please don't kill me, I'll upgrade after I get suggestions okay?

Ok, but what about your video card and processor?

5 gigs? That's a freakin lot dude, you're fine.

Anyway, for shooters, I'd recommend Counter Strike: source and Battlefield 2 as good PC exclusives (if you get Battlefield 2 then try and get the expansion bundle for $40).

Stratagies are another one of the PC's specialties. Rome: total war is great and I've heard good things about Sins of a Solar Empire and Supreme Commander (also, Spore isn't terrible if you want a casual game).

I just edited above post, I don't have them memorized by heart, and am too lazy to look them up, but I know they are fairly average, my system is nothing special, just a simple comp that I will begin to upgrade soon.

I think the reason he was asking about the operating system is that 32 bit OS' can only handle so much RAM. For XP 32 bit, its about 3.5 Gig. I'm not sure about Vista, but I think its more.
