Wow, all of you fan boys need to get a life. Arguing about which system is superior cost wise or graphic wise is futile. Both types have their pros and cons, and neither of which is superior to the other. PC Gamers love the freedom that comes from being able to tinker and toy with their systems and games engines (i.e. Mods). They like the ability to be able to get the new technology first and reap the benefits of being able to upgrade whenever. Consoles offer cheaper and easier to use solutions for people that like to be able to hit the "on" button and play. The developers know that there is a majority of people that want that ease of use so they placate the masses with many exclusive titles.
Trying to compare apples to oranges is like watching monkeys try to procreate with a football. This conversation is fan boy circle jerk competition and amazingly... nobody is winning.
The misconception of "PC Gaming is dieing" is because gaming in general has gotten more and more mainstream. Consoles have a huge market footprint now because everyone and their dog has heard of or seen a game being played. The demand for more simplistic gaming systems is growing exponentially. Game developers see that now there is this huge potential for massive profits within this developing and evolving market. So they reorganize their tactics and staff to fulfill the demand for games on the more popular systems. This trend of readjusting company strategies happens within all business. Right now the trend in the games industry is aiming for the console and causal gamers. The Console Wars is a perfect example of game industry hype. The Wii has clearly been proven to be a huge success, but it is shunned by hardcore X-Box and PS3 players because it comes from a different brand. PC Gamers will always defend their hobby because it is the one they chose to go with.
A similar thing happens in a completely different field... Sports. Every team has their fans, and those fans will go the distance to defend the honor of their team. Same thing in the gaming world. [strong]BUT YOU ALREADY KNEW ALL OF THIS PEOPLE![/strong]
Long story short, I have a PC and Wii currently. My buddy has a PS3, X-BOX 360, and PC. We play all systems on a regular basis. We just tend to gravitate more to the PC only because it is more than a pure game system, we can do other things. Like: Animate, edit, film, write, and watch almost everything. Before you declare any system dieing or in decline, first take a look at how the system is really doing and the demographic of people using said system. A system is not dead until everyone, including the people who defended it, consider it dead or have moved on to something else.
VIVE DE LARGO EL PC! (Long live the PC for all you English speakers)
