PC gaming is dead to me now.

I don't have any of those issues, but to each their own. Remember kids, its okie to not like things but don't be a dick about it.

(also OP doesn't seem very comp literate so probably for the best to move to consoles, less maintenance needed.)

Bored of this shit, honestly, I don't get why everyone on this site constantly wants to blurt out there opinion about things that have been said a million times before.

It just doesnt matter, if you like PCs, fine, if you like consoles, fine. Keep it to yourself...
I just don't see why this even matters remotely or why you even made a thread about a topic that has been discussed so much I'm ready to rip my fucking eyes out.

This constant war between consoles and PCs has gone on waaaay too long, it doesn't even matter any more, please everyone just stop fighting/talking about it, it just really...really... doesn't...matter.

Ok good bye you won't be missed by the PC community at all but one bad experience does not equal the experience of the whole platform. I have had 1 major problem in the last few years regarding BF 3 and all I had to do was reinstall a service pack. Big whoop. This is coming from a console gamer of a total 16 years who moved to PC gaming 6 years ago.

I actually switched from Console to PC, and aside from a few small problems here and there, I'm enjoying it, shame you couldn't find that enjoyment too.

That aside it is definitely more complex and that's what PC Gamers generally like, it's not put in the disc and play, PC Gaming is for the tinkerers, I play my PS3 on occasion and find myself wanting to change my graphics and controls settings, and other small things that my PC copies had that let me play around more in the options menu than in game.

Except that consoles get free DLC (Space Marine is a prime example of their free 'Exterminatus' DLC), indie games on XBLA and backwards compatibility too...
Severely limited.
Ever tried to play a windows 95 game on a Windows 7 system without having to trail through FAQs, downloads and files to make it work? Go try playing Hogs Of War on a brand new computer without having to do any of that! It's not possible.
Easy. Remove Windows 7. Install Windows Xp/Linux.
And what if I don't want to install Linux or don't have the ability or want to buy XP again? I could just buy a PS2 for £10 (which I already own) and the game for pennies and problem solved.

I hate the argument that "oh if you did this this and this then it's easy"!
Well some of us would just like to switch on a device and insert a game and go in under 30 seconds. None of this "minimum spec" crap or having to spend half a day configuring my system to play it.
Apparently according to a user all you have to set it to run with windows 95 compatibility mode. Yay for reading the thread.

And that's why I have a PC and a 360. If one bites the bullet then I can still play games on something. Plus I have a second 360 just in case. PC gaming has fucked me over many times but I have solved just about every problem. Sometimes I think of throwing in the towel, but I didn't spend almost $2000 on my gaming rig just to say "screw it" and walk away from it forever.

PC gaming has always been give and take, but finally getting it to work in the end is one of the best parts.

"YEAH WELL WE DON'T NEED YOU ANYWAY! HAVE FUN MISSING ALL THE MODS AND DLC!"

Holy crap, what is wrong with you people? This isn't a damn competition you jackasses. On topic, good for you. You didn't like it, so you told it to go fuck itself. I may not agree, but in the grand scheme of things I doubt it will change your mind or make a significant impact on your life.

The only thing getting my hands on a 360 did for me was make me a Mass Effect fan. :D (Oh, and after that first time I've been exclusively playing the series on PC. :p)

But then I've also always been a console gamer. Hell, back in the Nintendo 64 days I was almost exclusively a console gamer, since my PC simply wasn't up for modern games anymore.

Now my primary gaming platform continues to be the PC, due to easy of accessibility, with my Wii coming in as my secondary, and my DS and Android phone for whenever I'm in the mood on the bus or whatever.

Right, because you're not going to have ANY problems with your PS3. I mean, it's not like their networks are stupidly easy to breach even after a massive hack already.

And the red ring of death is purely urban myth.

And of course the games will work 100% perfectly 100% of the time. It's not like discs can get scratched, the players can get clogged with schmutz.

Oh and of course your thousand dollar HD TV is indestructible and you'll never need to buy a new one if any of a myriad of problems make it stop working.

About seven years ago if you were to ask me if I was a PC gamer, I'd stand tall and arrogant waving a flag and say "yes" then go on to denounce console gaming for its inferiority and pretty much say anything else imaginable that would embarrass the crap out of me today.
OK, you are a not a gamer, you're a dick. Good riddance.

SWTOR ended up sucking anyways no thanks to it being a rip off clone to an MMO that's over seven years old and shouldn't matter anymore. And since Diablo 3 isn't coming to any console, I say I care less to that too.
Get. The. Fuck. Out.
NO I HAVEN'T HAD ANY problems with my PS3 in the 2 years I've had it. Zero, zilch none! Every game I fed that machine......

wait for it.......

.....

wait for it........

WORKED!!!

oHHHH, I know, for a PC gamer it must be scary.....?!?! As a former PC gamer I still get chills just thinking about it.

As for my PC, let's see in the last two years I've had a replace a hard drive, a motherboard, ram, everything just about. Reformatted it over a 100 gagillion times, and now I probably have to spend more money to get 4 more gigs of ram to have Zbrush work the way I want it to. I still have to deal with PC bullshit, but for programs like Zbrush and Maya I'm willing to put up for it because that's my job. For gaming....HAHAHA, fuck no....if I'm spending that much money and migraines filled attention I rather do something important instead of feeding a hobby.

Oh and for the SWTOR commit, don't give in just yet. Because in 3 months when everyone moves back to WoW I really feel just too tired and uninterested to say I told you so. I've been doing it for 7 years to MMO addicts on MMORPG.com and I give up on that too.

But over the years I've slowly and surely moved away from PC, starting around the time the PS3 dropped in price to something reasonable, and now I won't even buy "must buy only" games for the PC such as Skyrim and such.

I try to think back to why this has happened and today after spending eight hours pulling my hair trying to get games on steam to work I've realized why.

The truth is, I just can't take it anymore.

Call me lazy, call me even stupid for not trying hard enough, say that it's all my fault, but honestly, I don't care anymore. I'm sick and tired of trying to fix this problem or that. Tired of it being my PC's fault the game doesn't work. Tired of my anti virus freezing up the game. Or having to re-install my sound card to get sound to work in Bioshock (which hasn't done it).

I am just sick and tired of spending all day, all fucking day on this forum and that, sometimes going on weeks trying to hunt down that one stupid reason a game isn't working when it should.

Today, every fucking game on my Steam library wasn't working. After five hours of trying to figure out what was going on and nearly deciding to reformat my PC (again for the 3rd time this month) I find out Steam has been down with certain clients and had decided not to let anyone know. I had to find out about this in some back alley of the google search engine after the 17 page. So, fuck you PC gaming. I have my Xbox 360, I have my PS3. SWTOR ended up sucking anyways no thanks to it being a rip off clone to an MMO that's over seven years old and shouldn't matter anymore. And since Diablo 3 isn't coming to any console, I say I care less to that too.

I'm done, thank you really for nothing but years and years worth of head aches...So long, farewell, good.....fucking.....bye

Wow, that felt....GOOD! XD
he.....hehehe........heheheheheheh....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Are you joking?? You got a PC up to date and a PS3 + Xbox while i live in Argentina and have this Celeron computer since 2003 and up until today i can enjoy games like The Binding of Isaac, Minecraft and IJI who are waaaaay too far ahead of the tech in 2003 but they still work just fine. And you know what to do if the new games dont work?? get a job, or you know, play older games. Lost gems that people forgot for being LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY and choose to complain about games that take too munch power to run or that no innovation has been present in recent gaming. If you want to know where innovation is just look back and you will find it, you will find it where the producers have left behind because "it isnt what the actual market wants". Gems like: Sacrifice, Syndicate, Messiah, Dungeon Keeper 1, MDK 2, Spychonauts, Tyrian, Hyper Princess Pitch and so on

But you wont do that, do you?? You wont appreciate this opportunity to work around limitations and search for something different and instead those the lazy path just like the console users that you said back then that they were inferior. You lazy ass its just like the people who only play games that have been furiously marketed to the point that they think its the only thing that exist.

You should be ashamed to even come here and write this. You lack of vision is disturbing and makes me regret for a moment to even promote games such as IJI and Bastion. But soon people will realize that only gameplay elements and just enough graphics to be able to tell the story in the way it wants will be enough and also be accesible for anyone.

While incompatible hardware issues is the one of the two main problems of PC gaming (The other being the cost of it, especially if you want the latest hardware), I've had very few issues on that front.

The closest I get is less the PC and more the operating system; Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 DETESTS Windows 7, the best I can do is get it to run but not save/load games. Recent releases have all worked fine, though I've had to replace the fan on my Graphics Card and the PSU fan is starting to go aswell after a year and a half.

I get what the OP is talking about but I've personally lucked out and haven't had these issues.

That's the meta-game of PC gaming. It gives even more value for money than the longest RPG, and much greater satisfaction than solving the hardest puzzle game.
I dunno, seems grindy and repetitive, they haven't added any new feature to this format since plug-and-play
I just have to say... well done.

OT: Sucks to have issues, for sure. I'd be pretty pissed if I were in the OP's position. Personally I've had pretty minor issues on my PC that were usually my own cause anyway - which made them pretty easy to figure out and undo. Even Skyrim worked rather well for me, very rarely had a CTD.

Erm, just disable the soundcard then re-activate the on-board soundcard. The next advance step involves unplugging the speaker/headphones from the sound card to the on-board, integrated soundcard.

If those are the kind of games you play, there's nothing wrong with being a console gamer only. My problem with console game is more in the fact that the games I play (like the Paradox Interactive strategy titles, Europa Universalis and such) simply are not conceivable with a console interface.

But as you may guess, that's an individual issue.

Gaming is evolving, and some gamers are still banging on about PC gaming, as if it's even a contender. The PC gets an embarrasingly low amount of sales, less than 10% of console sales - it's the ugly little stepchild of the gaming industry, accept it, deal with it, move on.
Battlefield 3
Xbox 360: 2.2 million
PlayStation 3: 1.5 million
PC: 500,000

Don't spread crap and utter lies. Those were the sales figures for Battlefield 3 and that doesn't even include the Digital Distribution sales of PC which are not disclosed to the public and estimated to take up in excess of 60% of PC sales. So take it at 60% that means there were estimated 1,250,000 copies of BF3 sold. This isn't even getting to stuff like Skyrim.

Not such a far cry from consoles now is it? Yes still well behind the xbox 360 but that can be attributed to stuff like Origin being new and people not wanting to try it also with the fact that people never ever include DD sales with PC units it is always just retail only.

Yes both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses but don't come out with utter crap sales figures that are completely unfounded.

Also, who uses a sound card anymore?
That depends a lot on your speakers, but with any kind of quality speakers you'll notice a pretty significant difference in sound quality with a sound card. Well, if you're sensitive to that kind of thing (aka audiophile).

I got an AuzenTech Bravura 7.1 sound card for my headset, but I noticed right away just on my low end Logitech speakers it sounded more "crisp". My headset, though, has 150ohm impedance and no onboard sound will run that properly. The AuzenTech drives up to 600ohm headphones so, yeah. Sennheiser PC350 headsets are fucking amazing, though.

On the contrary, I've always been a console person, and have only ever looked forward to PC gaming most of my life for emulation. Now that cheap PCs however are able to handle so many generations worth of games, including PlayStation 2 and even Wii emulation, loads of Japanese developers developing more for PC, the ease and availability of Steam, and the easy of purchasing and downloading doujin/indie games today, I've become more of a PC gamer than ever before. That feeling when you can record a clip of you playing Katamari Damacy in 1080p is absolutely unparalleled, unbridled joy.

However, I will always be a console style gamer just because I really like and prefer my Japanese sort of games. Like "console-style RPGs" or "jRPGs". Really, I like games in general tailor made to the console. I like a controller, not a keyboard and mouse, I like Asian video games, I like the darned simplicity of it all. I just like console gaming much better.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't warming up to PC gaming just a little in recent year. It's hard to look at a PC as more than something for just emulation, but I'm starting to, just a little. Doujin games help.

I know I could just close these applications on a PC but I always left them open. - Achievements were a nice touch too (gotta get that gamer score!)

PC gaming will always have a place in my heart, and I still play some games on PC like I said but consoles have taken over for me, for now anyway.
