.....AAAAAHHHHH!!!....OH GOD!!....THE STUPIDITY IS UNBEARABLE!!! I just read that politicians are dropping support for SOPA and I was just starting to think that maybe, just maybe there is yet hope for mankind, then I read this load of...I don't even know what to call it, the word has yet to be invented that accurately describes what this is

Haha, thank you, that gave me a good laugh :D
Coincidentally, buy using something along the lines of Notscript, you could block wikimedia.org and freely use wikipedia :p

as a side note im wondering how many people have used a wiki with troll comments for a school project not knowing enough history to know that churchill and hilter didnt invade russia together
My friend in high school used to troll wikipedia pages that our entire class had to write a paper on. We had one class period to use the computer labs and my friend switched the wikipedia page on "Stem cell reasearch" to "Brains taste fine and dandy", with all the vital information deleted. Chaos ensued and the computer labs were full of profanity that day.

I just.. I don't know.. some people eh..?

I personally liked the comment from some kid who was worried about why the govt. was "cancelin' porn and wikipedia.."

..Because the government run porn industry became unprofitable overnight and no-one really needs wikipedia these days anyway, thats why..

On a more serious note.. I would have loved it if wikipedia just put up a massive troll face this morning after the blackout and it turned out they'd just done it for "teh lols.."

Which is hilarious, because all they had to do was click two buttons to see what it looked like before he vandalized it. One more click, and they could actually revert it. Your classmates weren't very tech savvy, were they? :p

Did none of these people read that paragraph on the black out page or even take two minutes to figure out what SOPA is. Probably not. But at least it created some buzz.

It's kinda sad how many of these people seem to depend on Wikipedia to do their homework.

Back in High School, my teachers actually discouraged using Wikipedia for research assignments and told us to actually find reliable sources.

Hehehe. Because clearly a Canadian who spends too much time on the net who gave it up for a day did so because Obama wanted him to.

Sorry, I did it of my own accord, as I think most people/websites did.

wow people really do not understand what their own political system is and what power it holds as well as how specific individuals play a part in it's offices. they also do not seem to grasp what entities like Wikipedia or google are, pretty scary if you ask me. also do these people really not know how to do research with out wikipedia? you know like in a library.

I'm pretty sure their logic went like this.

Problem --> Look it up on Wikipedia.

Question --> Look it up on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is down --> Look up why Wikipedia is down on Wikipedia.

ERROR.

"Communist fucks"? Wasn't Wikipedia founded by an Objectivist and is based around Hayek's theory of information exchange? Whatever, I don't expect these people to know about that anyway.

They're just looking for someone to blame for the blackout. Some direct it at SOPA supporters, some at Obama, others at Wikipedia itself. Doesn't surprise me that some people would lash out in frustration.

But all of the details are provided on the blackout page.

Did these people not even read the blackout page?

Well if you're looking to Twitter to find a group of enlightened, intelligent people you're rather out of luck.

Yeah, I'd just chock it up as a bunch of stupid and/or ignorant people who have no idea what's going on with SOPA.

My goodness. It's not like Wikipedia had an explanation as to why it was down on the blackout page or anything. Oh wait.

No wonder these people need wikipedia for all of their "research", they refuse to read more than 2 lines of text than they have to.

why the fuck did they shut #wikipedia off? how am i gonna do chemistry now?
How about listening at school/using a text book D:

I read through a lot more of these.

That's it, guys. I'm quitting the internet. Hell, I'm going to the moon. Maybe I can find my faith in humanity again, and then it will just be faith in myself.

I just realized, my friend told me that the collective IQ of the Internet dropped by 50 points when Wikipedia went down. This is proof that he's right about it.

but the comments are pretty funny, can't wait to see what happens when the esc key can't save them >:)

yes i am hoping yesterdays protest was a warning shot across, and that they do something far worse next time, if there is a next time
