wow people really do not understand what their own political system is and what power it holds as well as how specific individuals play a part in it's offices. they also do not seem to grasp what entities like Wikipedia or google are, pretty scary if you ask me. also do these people really not know how to do research with out wikipedia? you know like in a library.
I'm pretty sure their logic went like this.

Problem --> Look it up on Wikipedia.

Question --> Look it up on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is down --> Look up why Wikipedia is down on Wikipedia.

ERROR.
That my good friend has just sent me into a laughing spasm...and i can't stop :')

Seriously, how do these people breath?
Nature finds a way
My biology teacher actually said to people like that:
"Be glad that you don't have to understand your biological functions for them to work - or you'd be dead!!!"
Harsh but true.
But I guess people are so dumb, because they can get away with it.

Lol @ all their over-reactions. "How am I supposed to do my homework!?" I mean really, relying that heavily on wiki for your homework? Come on -__-

Though what's with all those people who apparently can't read? I mean Wiki says outright what's going on.
God, I know. I literally saw them warning people to "do [their] homework early", haha.

It just goes to show how reliant so many people are on the internet, doesn't it? Actually, having said that, I saw a few websites carrying out 'black outs' in protest to PIPA and SOPA. That is to say, "let's 'censor' the homepage for the day but don't cry! you can still view it via the archives". I thought you were supposed to block the entire site for the day? was that not the point? Ugh, I don't know.

Anyway, I thought Obama was completely against the SOPA and PIPA movements. And Yeebus, what in the hell do those people think the little references in Wikipedia are for? Decoration?

This is why I have absolutely no faith left in humanity. We are idiots by nature and we have to be nourished with knowledge and wisdom, otherwise we end up like these people or even worse (and believe me, I have nightmares about those people).

Selective Human Castration Project, please? Some people just shouldn't be allowed to breed.

but it's... right on the.... right there in the middle.... I mean.... in big letters... can't you?.... I don't.. *facedesks repeatedly*.

OK... so basically these people went to Wikipedia intending to do something.... "productive", and couldn't take the time to read -why- it's blacked out? I can't decide if these people are lazy, stupid, trolling, or all of that at once.

Nobody that stupid should be able to use the internet. I don't mean they should be prevented from using the internet, I mean that they are too stupid to use it. I mean with that mental capacity they should be physically unable to type in words and move the mouse in a co-ordinated enough manner to brows the internet to any degree. Hell I'm surprised they managed to turn their computer on instead of wondering why it's off then going to whine to their friends in the next trailer. Christ almighty.

SOOOOOOOO stupid.

The number of people posting "OMG why is wiki not working?!?" without even reading the fucking page to find out, disgusts me.

Fuck it, lets pass SOPA and PIPA, and ruin the internet and destroy all personal freedoms...they are too good of concepts to be wasted on us anyway.

Stupid and ignorant, but yeah that about sums it up.
I wouldn't even say ignorant at this point since these people are clearly refusing to learn. They're just stupid.
Ignorance is a lack of knowledge, but deliberately choosing to remain without that knowledge is stupid, so they're both.
Stupid is lacking both common sense and intelligence, traits that these people are clearly exhibiting. Ignorance is only the lack of knowledge. Originally, these people were ignorant, but because they refuse to read the text in front of them, something that both presents information and leads on to even more detail, they are stupid. They make no attempt to understand and don't even show the ability to understand. They're stupid.

That Wikipedia shit today made me fail English. [sic]

ReymartTogado:

Gay no Wikipedia!?! I was about to search something fucking *****.. [sic]

Lo_Pan:

WHY THE FUCK IS MY WIKIPEDIA BEING A BLACK ONE I DIDNT WANT THAT OH GOD IM SO MAD [sic]

Among others.

Apparently Google no longer exists, nor does any form of academic database. I'm not going to go down the "read a book" path because reading a book requires actually having one, and I'm not particularly inclined to believe that any of the people who's posts are here actually own a singular book of more complexity or substance than "the Cat in the Hat". Which may explain ms. Elbow's failure to academically express herself in what I assume is her mother tongue, in light of Wikipedia going offline as a cautionary protest against S.O.P.A. and P.I.P.A.

I've always said..... even with all our accumulated and acquired knowledge ove the last couple thousand years..... I think many of us as individuals have become stupider. I honestly do sort of blame modern technology for this. We have gone from being a species that actually knows things.... to a species that merely has a piece of machinery that knows things for us.... not the same.

These people are a perfect example, this is the first thing that came to mind when I read their tweets.

I really don't have much to say. Hope these people aren't serious...

Discussion value: Why are people like this?

Sidenote: First person to say 'OMG WAY TO GENERALIZE' gets kicked in the throat. You know what I mean.
To be fair, very few are leaving the sole blame on Obama, mostly blaming "the Government" that is supposed technically meant the Executive Branch but colloquially most people use it to describe legislative branch as well. This certainly isn't Obama's bill though he could have said more to oppose it like being explicit and unwavering in threatening a veto.

good news is number of people saying "what is SOPA" the blackout achieved in its aim of spreading the word on what SOPA is as it seems not enough people take an active interest in their governments legislation.

What!?!? Something happened?
Fuck Obama!
This has been happening since the 1980's, people literally using every standing president as scapegoat for everything that goes wrong. It got really bad under Bush Jr but I thought that was because he's an easy target but it seems to have gotten worse with Obama.

I just do not fucking get how the average american does not understand the separation of powers in the United States, between Executive and Legislative branches. Between State and Federal. Everyone act like its one hierarchy like a company everything vertically integrated with one guy ultimately responsible for everything.

Well the phrase "With great power comes great responsibility" goes both ways. If the US President has absolute responsibility then he must have absolute power, and he doesn't have that, never has and certainly has less power now than at the foundation of the republic.

Prime Minister David Cameron has more power within the UK than the US President does within the United States.

(PS: this isn't directed at you Bran, just in general rant)

Hopefully, this is just an idiotic minority of people :(

It's frightening that some people care so little about current events that they can't be bothered to read the extremely concise explanation given by wikipedia. But I'm sure most people aren't like that. Best scenario is that it's just a joke.
I am confused as well about how people have still not heard about SOPA. I am not American, nor have I ever been there but I took my site down yesterday as part of the protest. It has been a huge weight on my mind for some weeks now.

By the way peeple, have a look at ACTA. It is an international trade agreement version of SOPA with potentially more intrusive violations of human rights.

Considering that Wikipedia said why they were blacked out on the front page...

These people are obviously illiterate and probably can't vote or write a letter. Just sayian.

They are clearly ignorant of the situation and they are clearly stupid because they blatantly choose to remain so. Hence they are both ignorant AND stupid.
