More annoyingly was me, a new linux user, getting locked out of his PC cause he screwed it up and couldn't access the SUSEDB for information on how to fix it. Unfortunately, those guys didn't care if you disabled scripts, you still aint getting in.
Did you try Google Cache? Doesn't matter now anymore, but still...

Love your avatar btw :3
Nah, smart guys at the SUSE forums, you couldn't cache or noscript or anything to access the information.

At first I thought that second one was the "payback for Pearl Harbor" bullshit from last year. And then I realized it was even less consequential and I just (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

It amazes me that Facebook, despite lacking anonymity, is just as full unbelievable dipshits as 4chan. I guess if your brain is only running at 5% efficiency you really just don't give a fuck what people think.

Not to start a flame war, but I despise Obama. I despise him with utter loathing. But there are so many good reasons to dislike him, why do we need to blame him for things that are not his fault?

Wait, didn't Obama promise to veto the Bill and then just sat back and did nothing to oppose it? So in a way aren't they correct, it is Obama's fault SOPA has gotten this far because he hasn't opposed or stopped it?
WOW! You are in desperate need of Wikipedia. I suggest looking up the legislative process here in America. Or you could watch the old School House Rocks musical video to learn about the process.

When the President says he is going to Veto a bill, that is ALL the opposition the President needs to apply to a bill.

PS. If you are a Citizen of America (some that frequent these boards arent) Then you are a shining example of how bad the school system in America has become.
I'm British, not American, so I'm not all that familiar with your Federal system (All my effort is spent just tring to understand how our own bloated constitutional monarchy works!)
In our system if the Prime Minister were to oppose a Bill then he would take a much more active role in denouncing it, I just thought that that would pass across into your system.

That is why i didnt want to directly insult you for being another "stupid American" as these boards probably have more non-Americans on them than Americans.

And yeah, British and Australian government is sort of the same, and i have first hand knowledge of Australia's governmental workings. Plus my mom lived in England for 10 years, so i know more about that than the average American.

But here in America, the President signs the laws. If he doesnt like it, then he Veto's it, and that is that. The bill can be reworked and go through the congress and senate again, but again, the buck stops with the President. If the president says he wont sign it, then there is no need to push forward with the bill. If the president says he will sign it, then it will go through the process a lot faster.

I was looking for that scene in "Field of Dreams" where people were making blind accusations about Terence Mann, namely the one where they accuse him of spanking the monkey, so that I could make a relation between the people in the movie and the people who tweeted. This was as close as I could find.

That's not actually true. Congress can force a bill into law with a 2/3rds vote, even if it gets vetoed.

If Congress really wants a bill to pass, then it'll pass. However, the Supreme Court can rule it unconstitutional, and THEN the bill dies permanently.

True. I didnt mention the super majority vote, mainly on the fact that so few have ever passed in the past. Only declarations of War and Treaties have ever had the super majority vote. And perhaps the impeachment of Nixon would have gotten the super majority, but that vote never happened.

And at the present, i doubt the Congress, Senate, and House could even get a super majority vote on a bill claiming the sky is Blue.

Not exactly. If the president vetoes a bill, he can actually be overruled by a two thirds majority in the Senate. That's why he ultimately wound up signing the appropriations bill with that rider that let American citizens be kidnapped by the government: a veto would be overridden, and a pocket veto (waiting past a certain number of days after Congress goes out of session) wouldn't be possible, since Congress was still in session at the time. It's also not unheard of for the president to work with congress to either get a bill he wants passed (see: Obamacare, the repeal of Don't ask, Don't tell, Don't Ask, Don't Tell itself, and the Civil Rights act), or to get people to vote against something he doesn't like (Can't think of anything off hand, but there's a reason why people use "it's political" to mean that it's a mess of rivalries, alliances, and a certain give and take between people who have differing but not necessarily opposed goals).

Yes. So did all the libraries burn down or otherwise wink out of existence when Wikipedia went online? I'd check it out on the Internet but Wikipedia is down for some reason. And I can't check why Wikipedia is down because Wikipedia is down!
the sad part is even if all the libraries had burned down for some magical reason they could still just look up the information on another site XD

I just thought I'd post this up here. This thought always succeeds to instantly make me simultaneously laugh and then cry a little on the inside.

After reading what some people have posted up I simply cannot understand how such ignorance and idiocy is allowed to thrive within the U.S. These people with such grotesque signs of conceit and selfishness without a care to anything else around them. There is not a single bit of effort in learning about the situation. Instead, the instant reaction is to merely find a scapegoat [sub]1[/sub] and go "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH". This is by far the most demotivating thread I have ever come across.

[sub]1. Unfortunately in this case it's Obama because the ignorant pricks who live in the land known as the United States of America probably don't have any fucking idea how their own government even works.[/sub]

I'm not actually sure what he's talking about, since an Appropriation Bill relates to money...

Maybe he meant the Patriot Act? In that case, you can be held indefinitely with no trial if suspected of terrorism, yes.
