My favorite:

Some Guy said:
bullshit ass congress , took wikipedia , whats next?

That's kinda the point there, bub.

I think Wiki may have over estimated the Intelligence of some of its users. Still if it helps raise awareness among those with a double figure IQ then it works.

Seems like most of the tweets were either yelling about communism, or calling wikipedia gay. *facepalm*

My friend in high school used to troll wikipedia pages that our entire class had to write a paper on. We had one class period to use the computer labs and my friend switched the wikipedia page on "Stem cell reasearch" to "Brains taste fine and dandy", with all the vital information deleted. Chaos ensued and the computer labs were full of profanity that day.
Which is hilarious, because all they had to do was click two buttons to see what it looked like before he vandalized it. One more click, and they could actually revert it. Your classmates weren't very tech savvy, were they? :p
Kid, I'll give ya an example: when the same friend stole all the mouse balls from the ENTIRE school, several people suspected that the mouses were'nt plugged in and were checking the cords XD. Shortly after this incident, our school switched over to optical mouses. I understand it was an expensive switch...

You know, I don't condone theft, but I'm sitting here imagining what one could do with that many mouse balls, and just about drooling. Those things, along with the rubber ball at the core of a baseball, are like, natures greatest superball.

Oh i agree, those things can be thrown down a long hallway and its guaranteed to come flying back at insane speeds! Fun to mess around with, you know? I think my friend brought them home with him, i'll have to borrow one :3

Erm, last I checked Obama wasn't in charge of the legislative branch, and he wouldn't be to blame for SOPA and the like. But apparently Joe Biden would be. [http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/06/22/cheney_asserts_hes_part_of_the_legislative_branch/]

[sub]Yes, I know the Dick Cheney thing is old news. Work with it. [/sub]

Suddenly it makes sense; Biden is on record as being anti piracy. Reefer Madness anti pot propaganda level anti piracy. Not that he really has the power, but I'm disappointed that we seem to have traded a bunch of conservatives who are beholden to big oil for a bunch of "liberals" who are too beholden to big entertainment to actually do anything liberal.

Sigh. Why is "drooling-on-self-stupid" the most socially acceptable state.

So much shame for this country, and for us as a species. So much shame.

LOL this pretty much prove we really don't have much time left they level of stupid rising is the world is most likely gonna cause it to implode....

OT

Really I'm really tired of when shit goes down they auto blame Obama like he's the Cobra Commander. They paint him as being a fuck up when it's really the people below him really being under-qualified for their jobs. Or it's stupid fuckers just road blocking progress because shit that's good for everybody is happening. We just can't have money for everybody, good medical care, cheap and alternative energy sources. Nah what about the rich people that are effected by all that good in the world, we can't have that can't we? They're the job makers for everybody else in the world except their own country. Oh Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Sadly, no. [link]http://news.cnet.com/8301-31001_3-20008432-261.html[/link]

Don't get me wrong, I am a registered democrat and quite liberal, but I'm sick and tired of corporate interests being taken care of over the interests of the people. It's getting to a point where we need campaign finance reform. Campaign finance reform that outlaws private financing, and gives a set amount of public funding to each candidate to run their campaign on, because right now, the contributions our politicians are getting may as well be bribes.

To be fair, a great many of people that I saw on twitter, had no idea why wikipedia was down.
Considering how there are a lot of people who have no idea what SOPA is, and that most people blame the president for any problem that happens in America, its no surprise that they are blaming him.

I'm sorry, but while our Mr. Vice President is overreacting in your article, thinking that piracy is theft is far from an insane proposition. Also, if I recall correctly, SOPA was created entirely within Congress, not within the White House [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act#The_White_House].

Finally, my original post was mostly intended as a joke - several years ago Dick Cheney said that the VP was a part of the Legislative branch of government, as opposed to the Executive branch. While there are some minor arguments for this, it is false, and Joe Biden is a part of the Executive branch. He had no direct control over SOPA, and could not personally affect it's passing into law. Only the men and women of Congress could do that, and the President IF the bill was passed.

That's why I said he didn't actually have the power to do what I was jokingly accusing him of, but I stand by the fact that his statement was hyperbolic and telling. I thought you were asking if the entire post was trolling, which it wasn't. But the problem is, he's not the only old guy in Washington with that sort of attitude. Oh, also, the man has been to lawschool. It may not be hyperbolic for a layperson who has never touched a computer to conflate piracy and breaking and entering, but he should know better.

Seriously, what right does the US of all countries have to shut down a website (megaupload) and regulate what is essentially an open, region-free domain (internet)?

F the US, they think they own the world. The world may surely change by the time 2012 is done.

Well, we both agree that Biden is being a mite over the top with his statements, and that piracy is still a bad thing[sup]1[/sup]. However, since we seem to disagree on several other points, I think we should move this to Religion & Politics OR keep it to private messaging. Don't want to muck up this thread more than it already is, after all! ^_^

[sup]1[/sup]: We promise Mr. and/or Mrs. Mod! Please don't ban us! :p

Seriously, how do these people breath?
Breathing is an autonomic function. It doesn't require any thought.
And honestly, if people are RELYING on wikipedia for information on their homework, then perhaps it's a good thing that it's gone down for a day, forcing them to get to know other, more reliable sources of information.

the amount of fail and win on this thread is killing me!
