Underage b&!!!!!!!!11

Just kidding. You're a a great minority in the horde that is 13 year old boys. There's nothing I hate more than stupid tweens. There's a reason you're on the Escapist :)

Enjoy your childhood while it lasts. A time might come when you regret not taking advantage of it and in turn behave immaturely.

Being thirteen is awesome. Don't spend your time attempting to seem older and more mature. Do fun things.

I'm 15, and my supposed peers are largely morons. Almost all of my friends are older than me, I also avoid In my year at school, avoid the idiots, they might mess you up.

Edit: to all those who say it is the best times of my life, I've hated my childhood, it has been nothing but bullying and general mysery so I don't know what you're talking about. I want to have to be responsible.

You do? well I'll gladly trade you any time. Working 8-6 for the rest of your life isn't as fun as you'd think
Sounds like a trade

Yeah I've had your problem before. Luckily I've found a group of friends who I fit in with (i.e. stupid conversations, followed by intelligent conversations, then conversations about music with guitars in it, then conversations about video games... I'm very happy.)
:O

I can haz?

Out of curiosity, how do you define "mature?" I personally define it as "how willing you are to let people bend you over backwards and take advantage of you" but I was wondering what your definition is.
Taking life seriously, actually caring about what happens to you in the long run and being able to have an intelligent conversation. I don't define it as not having fun, but having responsibility for your actions.

I've had the same problem my entire life. I wish I could give you more advice than to just deal with it...

Welcome to the teenage years, the hell that is where you are both adult and child but can't really do either.

See it is natural for people your age to want to aspire to do greater (more mature) things and no longer want to be "just a kid" but the thing is you may WANT to be mature but maturity is not just about what you want but what you are capable of. A 13 year old just isn't equipped to actually be as mature as they want to be, that is why being a teenager sucks so much.

Teenagers want to drive, smoke, be independent and do all the things adults do but the problem is that they are essentially still children, still at a state very open to learning new things... at the same time very easily led astray.

My advice, just hold onto that desire for maturity but realize that you aren't really going to get it till you are 18. Your aim should be to better yourself and ready yourself but accept that you really are still a kid.

Humans are quite unique amongst almost all the other species of having this prolonged stage of gradual puberty, Five Long Years for it to truly be complete, I think this is precisely because so much is required of an adult human in terms of individual responsibility, they need this long stage to prepare them for adulthood and maturity.
-Don't want to drive
-Don't want to drink
-Don't want to smoke
Open to learning new things? Sorry but all I've seen from my generation is doing the exact opposite, but that may be just my school.

Growing up is shit. I have to stand in the same spot for 4 hours at a time bagging groceries to pay for my university degree. I work 46 hours a week doing something that doesn't matter, and doesn't earn me an ounce of respect. My boss is a *****, and the majority of customers are tools.

Growing up means you have to work a lot, and you have little time for leisure. Stay a kid as long as you can, because maturity is over-rated.

Hell, I'm just under 18 years as well.

I used to live in a place full of the most immature people. It also seems the vast majority of people drink copious amounts of alcohol, which I consider immature.

These people have £50 rent to pay, college the next day and they still go out and get wasted, I still don't see the point in drinking and yet it seems to be the bestest thing evar.

Sorry, that turned into more of a rant on alcohol.

I have to say no matter how much adulthood sucks often, I definitly dont miss childhood and teenagehood at all, pretty because of the same reasons. I think of school and I think of bullies, gangs, and many other things that would keep me scared most of the time. Yes I had friends and my neighborwood was quite safe and had plenty of opportunities for exploration and to have fun in group. But I have many more opportunities now, many more options I can pick.

Newsflash! If you think you're more mature than your friends then you probably aren't! Also, I never understood this race to be more mature than everyone else. It just comes across as... incredibly dorky. Your pals are out having fun and you're complaining about how immature they are. Who loses out in the end?

Also, 'hanging out with people online', contrary to what anyone thinks, is not social interaction, no matter how much you want it to be. Going outside, actually meeting people and chatting face to face is social and more to the point, healthier. The more time people spend online these days is just driving them further away from really interacting with people. From the sounds of things you're no more mature than your friends.

Oh look people full of ego thinking their so much more mature than everyone else.
They're. Your welcome.
On topic, people aren't always mature. It's a peculiar side affect of life, but there you go.
You're and Effect. You're welcome.

It's usually a good idea to make sure your right before you criticise someone else.

Yes, I know
Shit, I've looked upon millions of people that try to be ironic on the internet and think, "tossers!" But when I try it, I realise that it is indeed really fucking hard. Sorry about that, tried and failed miserably to be ironic. Sorry!

Unfortunately, since you consider yourself mature, you most likely are not. This isn't meant to be offensive. 13 year olds are supposed to be out having fun! Don't waste time being mature at 13, you have the rest of your life for that :3 It's way overrated
