I think I've identified one of the worst subsets of first-world humanity, those who do not see fit to pick up their animals' piles of nasty, sticky vectors of disease that their innocent flower just left on the sidewalk.

Personally, I think it's just about the most filthy thing I can think of, and near as I can tell, 80% of people just don't care. Imagine my surprise when I came home from the store this morning to a sticky green puddle oozing down the sidewalk right in front of my front door. Nasty, nasty, and as it was totally green and totally loose, I had to scrape it up myself and sterilize the sidewalk, because that dog was clearly sick and I don't want my cat to get anywhere near it.

So, what do you think? A terrible subset of humanity, or am I making a big deal out of nothing? Where do stand about people who own pets, but won't go the full distance to be considerate and responsible while doing it? Does seeing a nice, fresh pile of baked goods shat carelessly onto civilization piss you off as much as it does me?

To be fair, its unpleasant, but its not that bad if you pick it up while its still warm its not too bad.

I walk dogs at a shelter and I leave it on the grass.

Shit on grass > Rots > Nutrients go back into the soil
Shit on grass > collect it > Landfill

I know which one I'd rather have happen.
Ya but then anyone walking on the grass could step in it or what if kids are playing in the area and accidentally roll in it. Not to mention the poop will break down in a landfill just the same as anywhere else if your that concerned put it in your green bin. Plus it is rather inconsiderate even if it doesn't bother you it bothers other people.

Use your eyes when you are walking. Children are also capable of using their eyes, last I checked brown is contrasts green pretty strongly. Also, who the fuck rolls in the grass on the edge of a path?

Break down in landfill? I'm sure those nutrients will go to good use, a lot of vegetation in a landfill...
Man there is plenty growing in a landfill and regardless of how you feel it is still extremely inconsiderate to leave poop where people walk and brown does blend in rather well with dirt (face palm). Just because you feel one way doesn't mean everyone else does and it is inconsiderate to only think of yourself and not take others into account when not taking responsibility for your pets. There is a reason why it is illegal to not poop/scoop. Not everyone should have to keep a eye out at all times just to be able to walk around or not allow there kids to play in the grass because someone can't take responsibility for there pets and follow the law. Don't be so self centered these things may not bother you or even me but they bother a lot of other people.

So explain to me OP, if the poop was oozy, green, and diarrhea like, then how the fuck is someone supposed to pick it up with a bag?

I'm pretty sure the entire event went something like this:

Matthew94, what you don't seem to understand is that many kids are stupid, and when they're playing around, one of them could fall over, get that shit in their eyes, and potentially go blind. Do you really want to be guilty of something like that happening? Or what if people are walking in the dark? You can't blame their bad eyesight then. Oh yeah, what about people with poor eyesight? "Herp derp, I have great eyes, so does everyone else, therefore it's their own fault if they step in my dog's poop!"

So yeah, I think people who don't clean up after their pets' excrement are selfish, lazy twats. Would it really take that much of your time and effort to just get out one of those bags and scoop it up? Your pet, your responsibility.

This, essentially.

When I first got my dog, I was walking him, bags ready in my pocket should he go about his business. Sure enough, midway through the walk, he sqautted down on the sidewalk, and instead of a scoopable poop, produced this... puddle... about a foot in diameter. Now, I had brought bags with me, to scoop his poop. I didn't, however, bring a spoon. There was nothing to be done.

I ran away.

Though personally I'm not fond of this one:

Walk in grass > step in shit > shoes need to be cleaned and smell of shit

>:-(

But dog waste is not healthy for grass and plants it's harmful not helpful. There's plenty out there to back this up. Feel free to look.

Most waste disposal bags sold now are made from biodegradable starches. Use them. For health.

You can't pick up a super runny shit, not all of it anyway. I'll tell you what's worse than people not picking up dog shit, it's people that smash glass bottles on the pavement. I often have to pick up my dog because there are so many shards of glass on the pavement. Kids could fall onto the glass, much worse than falling in dog shit.

Think cow patty. Also, what am I supposed to do, myself? Leave it there, right in front of my door? Where I walk every day? Where my cat plays, every day? No, I spent a solid 15 minutes cleaning up some other inconsiderate jerk's mess. It was horrible. Trust me.

They could also accidentally swallow it and choke but I wouldn't use that as an argument either.
Don't get me wrong, I'm totally on your side in general but your scenario seems a bit... extreme.

It pisses me off when people don't realize that some places are off-limits for dog shit. Sidewalks, public parks, and someone else's yard are no-nos. What really annoys me is when I'm working at a vet's office and a dog hikes up it's leg to mark the counter/seats/whatever and the owner just stares at it and let's it do it's business. Take it outside! The door is two feet away and there is a nice lawn and a few trees for your dog to pee/poop on. I don't care if accidents happen but when I see owners letting it happen it makes me rage.
