Matthew94, what you don't seem to understand is that many kids are stupid, and when they're playing around, one of them could fall over, get that shit in their eyes, and potentially go blind.
They could also accidentally swallow it and choke but I wouldn't use that as an argument either.
Don't get me wrong, I'm totally on your side in general but your scenario seems a bit... extreme.
Not really. It's a common occurrence for kids to be playing in the park or something and fall over. They could also put their hand in shit as they're falling down, and then touch their eyes.

Nope it doesn't bother me and nope I don't have a dog.

I have far more important things to piss me off throughout the day like that fethwipe a few doors down that keeps parking in my space.

In this thread: city folk

Joking aside, around here our dogs go in a designated section of the yard while they are on a lead usually.

The idea of someone getting so worked up over dog poo to me is very strange.

Then they'll probably get...pink eye. We're talking about first world children, right? They get out of school for a few days. Maybe have to take some eye drops. Quelle horreur!

Using such an absurd example isn't helping your case.

I think it's gross when it's on a sidewalk, or someone else's lawn or a beach or something. It's lazy and something that shouldn't be done as a general rule, but I don't begrudge someone for occasional laziness or unpreparedness.

Yes, yes it is disgusting, and don't get me started with cat people, those assholes let their stupid cats out and then thy go jump fences and poop all over other people's houses and yards, arrrgh, I hate cats so much stupid filthy creatures, and to top it off sometimes they kill birds in you're property and then you have to clean that, I can't say I've never been tempted to leave poisoned cat food on my yard to get rid of the things, though the good thing about living on an apartment is that I no longer have to worry about such things, but seriously fuck cats.

yeah, dog droppings are mildly unpleasant, but they're not going to hurt you. Also... You sterilized your SIDEWALK? Seriously? I think you may need to see someone about your Germophobia.

It's really not that bad. If you step in it, it's not very hard to clean off your shoe. Also the landfill argument thing people are saying, poop is good for plants.

With regards to your cat, I'm pretty sure cats getting ill due to dog diarrhoea is a very rare. Cats can go anywhere and so always have the potential to run into random faeces, just because it's on the path outside your house doesn't mean your cat is much more likely to contract something. Cats have pretty strong immune systems, and there's stuff out there much worse than dog crap.

Ehh, animals didn't defecate in my old front lawn.

I suspect it was the dried chilli seeds I sprinkled on it weekly.

Why should people have to cater to you for your animals?

I'm an animal lover. I plan to get a dog soon, and ya know what I will clean his/her shit.

But NO other people are lazy, I have to watch out for it twenty four seven. You take your animals naughty business and put it where it belongs, out of sight. Don't care where, but lets not have people step on it.

If it's acceptable for dogs to shit outside without the owner picking it up, it should be acceptable for me to shit outside and leave it. If anyone finds it "ok" to leave your dog's dump in a public area, you have no right to get irritated if a cat with diarrhea has painted your lawn brown.

I think I've identified one of the worst subsets of first-world humanity, those who do not see fit to pick up their animals' piles of nasty, sticky vectors of disease that their innocent flower just left on the sidewalk.

Personally, I think it's just about the most filthy thing I can think of, and near as I can tell, 80% of people just don't care. Imagine my surprise when I came home from the store this morning to a sticky green puddle oozing down the sidewalk right in front of my front door. Nasty, nasty, and as it was totally green and totally loose, I had to scrape it up myself and sterilize the sidewalk, because that dog was clearly sick and I don't want my cat to get anywhere near it.

So, what do you think? A terrible subset of humanity, or am I making a big deal out of nothing? Where do stand about people who own pets, but won't go the full distance to be considerate and responsible while doing it? Does seeing a nice, fresh pile of baked goods shat carelessly onto civilization piss you off as much as it does me?
I walk dogs at a shelter and I leave it on the grass.

Shit on grass > Rots > Nutrients go back into the soil
Shit on grass > collect it > Landfill

I know which one I'd rather have happen.
This. Who's retard idea was it to say it has to be cleaned?

Captcha is going on about Big Brother watching me. I don't like where this is going...

If I'm not supposed to step on the grass, then maybe it was carefully treated and the kind of chemical products they pump into the soil render the need for natural nutrients a moot point.

If I'm not supposed to step on the grass, then maybe droppings shouldn't be there either.

Yeah, if you wear perfectly smooth soles. Tell that to my complex soles designed for grip even in the frigging snow, rain, mud or whatever. Even when it's a fairly simple sole it gets too impregnated to remove.

If I step on a "landmine" I'll spend the rest of the say smelling like shit wherever I go unless I find a really powerful hose or a suitable brush.

I mean it. I don't remember how long ago it was the last time I had to clean my soles, but I remember that it took more than 15 minutes of fiddling around with dog shit to get it all off.

More on topic, I think it's just laziness. Of course it's disgusting to have to deal with it, and even more so when you shouldn't have to, but the dog owner themselves isn't really disgusting because of it, just lazy.

My dog only goes for a shit in our back garden, so I don't have to follow her around with a plastic bag all the time fortunately.

Yes that is bothersome and no doubt that more pet owners should clean up after their responsibility. Bahh, I just realized that I lost my main point.

My dog shits on other people's lawns, other people's dogs shit on my lawn. None of us really seem to care because it's not really harming anything. If you step in it, big deal. Rub your foot in the grass a couple of times or spray it with a hose. If somebody has a problem with it, they'll tell you politely to keep it out of their yard and it gets kept out of their yard.

As for it being dangerous, I played with cow shit on multiple occasions when I was young which is far worse than some dog crap. That goes for pretty much anybody raised on a farm or in the country. Your child is more likely to go blind from tripping in the gravel on a playground than he is tripping in dog shit.

And Zyrocz when your shit is as small as a chihuahua's, knock yourself out.

If it's on somebody's property, then I pick my dog's little presents up. If it's in an empty field or something though, I don't bother because it's not going to inconvenience anybody.
