...and sorry for the Religion = Bigotry, but can you honestly name a single religious person that's not?

if you're religious you automatically dismiss all other religions and treat them as "wrong" ...bigot
Not all religious folk do that, mate. I'm an example of one.
Yeah sorry about that generalization; I live in a bad area, I'm rather tired... I know it's no excuse but I hope my situation helps explain it.
I had figured. We're not all like that, though. The folks that represent us like that are the same that make me want to scream.

I'm an atheist, and while I'm also not a huge fan of organized religion, atheists who go out of their way to insult theists for their beliefs annoy me. I take more of a "you don't shove your beliefs down my throat, I won't shove my lack there of down yours" stance on things.

As a deist, I rarely have anyone on MY side to drive me crazy (there's very few of us to begin with). I believe religion has good teachings, I just don't like how EVERY religion is the "one true faith" and that "gays, atheists etc. are an abomination to god". People that preach that are a bunch of fear mongers.

I don't like the stereotypical argumentative lesbians who complain about "RAWR PATRIARCHY!" every five seconds. There are people who are really like this, or who have these tendencies so much that I just can't stand them. I don't need you calling me an anti-feminist when I say that Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella are my favourite Disney movies. Shut the hell up and enjoy life instead of being so freaking angry all the time.

I have an issue with your attempts to 'convert' people, unless of course that was a joke. You obviously don't show much respect to other people's beliefs, or else you'd accept their beliefs and not worry about it. And you are NOT 'obligated' to tell homosexuals what they're doing is wrong, you have no right to invade another person's business because of your own beliefs. It's called the overlapping consensus of rational comprehensive doctrines present in Western society, google it. Also, this whole Jesus preaching peace and love thing...are you basing this off of what people told you, or did you read the actual Bible? Because I suggest that you actually read the book that your entire faith is based off of, rather then just go with what everyone tells you, Jesus as 'peaceful' and a historical figure is somewhat questionable due to several passages (but then again, the Bible's pretty inconsistant in many aspects). I still urge you to read it, as ignorantly following a belief system without studying it first is, well, ignorant. Make up your own mind on the teachings, rather then following someone else's, but DO NOT preach to people you have no business harassing.

I'm an atheist myself, I personally can't stand the militant ones who try to convert others to 'the cause'. I have no problem with religion, as long as you aren't trying to convert me, kill me, change government policy to follow your beliefs, or look down on me just because my beliefs are different then yours.

You're gay? Your choice, I'm obligated to tell you that I think what your doing is wrong, but invite me to the wedding and I'll probably show up for support.
Thats horribly hypocritical, so I'm going ot have to say people like you in general. Dont worry, I'll explain, its not really a personal attack against you in particular.

I'm Roman Catholic (kinda). I should explain. I follow the Ten Commandments and hte Golden Rule. I dont believe in Hell (well, really the need for it), or that god hates gays. I dont believe in religion as an organization and think its something everyone has to find, because all religion is the same in most regards (i dare you to tell how they arent when it comes down to set up and basic message). I bleieve in abortion and birth control, and if you do either you wont be eternally damned (for me, life doesnt start till birth if you wnat to go with the murder argument). I just dont htink god is all fire and brimstone, smyting peoples he doesnt care for or is that uptight.

So it bothers me when other Christians, who hear the world of god about forgiving and loving thy neighbor, then condemning them to hell for something that in reality, isnt a huge thing. Or when they say you shouldnt kill and yet there were the Crusades launched over a scrap of land that in the end got split up so poorly that half the objects/places important to a religion arent even in their sector. It also bothers me when people say "God commanded me to do this" (read the book Under the Banner of Heaven, it explains this principle really well about why its psychotic. Its about Fundelamentalist Mormons).

Also, Mormons bother me. Fundelamentalist Mormons mostly, but thats just me. They punish any physical contact with black people with death. ON THE SPOT!!

So yeah, other Christians in group/organized religions bother me and make me want to bang my head against the wall when they talk about God, his will, and all that stuff about him being forgiving yet hating certain groups.

People don't choose to be gay, there is scientific proof they don't choose to. So if you told any gay person what they were doing was wrong I hope they punched you right in the teeth.

Other than that my beliefs aren't mainstream so the only time I want to scream is when people speak on a subject without having anything to support their insane/ridiculous shit that they seem so die hard on spreading.

Richard Dawkins.

Electing himself as some sort of Atheism spokesman, whilst being an intolerant jackass pisses me the hell off.

Not so much a belief, but I can't stand most of my fellow Halo fans who make it seem like we are all a bunch of gibbering retards who can't go five seconds without killing something.

To be honest, this seems very Christian to me. Christianity was built on the destruction of everything and everyone that did not share their beliefs.

As far as your question goes, I can't think of a time that this has happened to me. I've seen instances, but none that affected me personally. I don't engage in much relgious talk around people as most would tak offense to what I have to say, so I instead keep many of my beliefs to myself.

Except for right now, of course haha.

So I'm a Christian. I believe that a guy came down for about thirty years, preached peace, love, and understanding, and got the nail and hammer for it. As such I try to be as peaceful and accepting as possible of others beliefs as long as they aren't openly harmful to others. You're gay? Your choice, I'm obligated to tell you that I think what your doing is wrong, but invite me to the wedding and I'll probably show up for support. You're Atheist? Fine with me, I'm gonna preach the gospel, but let's hit the arcade when I'm not trying to convert you to the darkside.

But every once in a while their are people who will hold the same banner as you, but the words aren't quite right. Example, many members of the KKK would call themselves Christian (Facepalm).

So what are your beliefs, and what people who claim to have the same beliefs make you wanna deck them in the face (Yes I'm aware that wasn't very Christian of me to say, but you get what I mean)?
Why would you try and preach your gospel to an Atheist? Its like sex with a black guy, you never go back.

To us, your religion is about as ridiculous as any other religion that has come or gone in history (or is still around), and I urge you to convince me that Jesus' miracles are any more believable than any of the other "messiahs'" or "chosen ones'".

I don't really believe you are Christian. I believe you think you are, but don't quite know what that entails (This is true of 90% of Christians).

I contend that the only reason you are Christian is because you were born into it and you think the ideals are great. Part of being a Christian, by definition, is believing the Bible through faith. I went to Catholic school for a long time, and maybe during my 3rd read through of the Bible (Yes, the whole thing. I would honestly bet that more Atheists have read the whole Bible than Christians.) I stopped and thought to myself, "Wow, this is retarded." (no offense) and have not picked it up since.

If you read the Bible though, you'll find out why fundamentalist Christians are almost globally hated. Both Testaments are horrible in their methods and scare tactics. First you have the Old Testament, which is jam packed with sexism, racism, and gay bashing (not to mention it advocates all of these). Then, you have the New Testament, which is more subtle about its prejudices, but tops it all off with the worst fear mongering scheme of all time: Christian Hell.

What could possibly better way to convert Jews to Christianity than by convincing them that if they don't believe in some completely nonsensical, unexplainable trinity, they will burn in a lake of fire until the end of time?

But yeah, regardless, I don't think most Atheists believe in zombies or magic, so you really should just give up preaching to us.

P.S.: My Atheistic preachings are justified only because you said that you preach your religion.
Amen, brother! Amen!

Whenever a Christian asks me why I have not accepted the Lord into my heart, I respond simply by stating that even if I wanted to believe in some imaginary character bearing the resemblance of Santa Clause who sits on a cloud and keeps a list of who has been Naughty and Nice so to get a place into His kingdom of... clouds (as I can only presume), why would I put my faith into a sadist?

They then ask why I think He is a sadist at this point, to which I advise their attention to the Book of Job.

They shut up around here because they realize that I have actually read the Bible, unlike themselves.

I'm a liberal who is pretty politically active. I also work in a public school. (Look at name)

I can't stand discussing politics with most liberal and politically active teachers. Most of the teachers are idealistic white women, who although care a lot for the world and are compassionate people, really don't know much about what they're fighting for or against. Most of them get their only information from media outlets who are likely to misinform. They see Oprah and Democracy Now as the divine gospel. I'm constantly arguing against "facts" such as how a single bullet from a rifle can pass through every building for miles and thus guns should be banned completely, or how video games are murder simulators that the government funds to brainwash our youth into killing poor people.

I also have a friend who is a schizophrenic and constantly goes to our City Hall meetings to rant through alliteration and rhymes for liberal causes I support and cannot stand to listen to from him.

Remember this man? [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104144-Mail-Your-Busted-Controllers-to-Leland-Yee]

I have friends and family members who work for him. I've met him. I've voted for him twice. I think he is a good man, but he has the wrong idea when it comes to personal responsibility.

Also as a PC Gamer and Deus Ex fan, I think PC Gamers and Deus Ex fans are among the most pretentious and whiny fanboys in existence.

I'm an atheist, and I can't stand atheists with a stick up their ass. Especially ones who smugly believe that anyone who has faith in any type of deity is dumb and/or beneath them.
