A game centered around the Flight to Varennes always seemed to be a compelling idea to me

That would be one hell of a boring RTS.

*Send troops behind trench*
Some fall into the mud attempting to make it to the trench and die.
Some suffer from fatigue.
*Sit in trench for several months*
The water in the trench makes your troops suffer from Trench Foot.
Some suffer from Dysentery.
*charge straight at a German Trench with a Machine Gun emplacment.*
All troops are killed.

Yeah, except only the western front was like that, and for a limited part of the war (1915-1917 winter). It'd be like rejecting all WW2 based games because the island maps would be too small, or because the Italian front was exactly like the western front of WW1 while D-day was happending.

The prehistoric era.

How would it work? I don't know, but I want to blow the piss out of some dinosaurs and trek volcanoes.

How would you go about that though... are we talking alternate history from the point of the monarchy or playing as revolutionaries attempting to capture them.

Rwandan Genocide.

You would play a Tutsi trying to escape the country with your family. The title would probably cause quite a lot of controversy, but if they make a realistic portrayal of such a violent period in recent history I think it could be quite the game.

I would also be quite happy with a game set in asia and then especially colonial asia. Because I am just simply in love with Asia after travelling to Indonesia last summer. That I am studying history at the moment might be another hint at my interest in such games.

Game involving Babylon Persia and other antiquity civilizations in an rpg. Only one I can think of is Titan Quest unfortunately the studio closed down so there never was a sequel. Also one about Hannibal as he tears through the Roman Legions would be awesome as well.

I would like to see a lot more WWI/Victorian era steampunk games. There are a few out there like Iron Grip/Arcanum, but I definitely wouldn't mind more.

The people of that studio are currently developing a new similar game. http://www.grimdawn.com/index.php

The English Civil War, undoubtedly. It's almost never been done outside of Europa Universalis, and even then only in passing.

A WWII FPS from the Axis perspective. Like the German Blitzkrieg, the North Africa campaign, The 2nd Sino-Japanese War, the Pacific Campaign, The Winter war.

Problem is as soon as a game like that would be announced it would be bombarded with criticism.

Other than that the only other thing I want to see in a WWII game would be Australia, in particular the Kokoda Track Campaign, I would love to see that done well in a video game.
This could actually be a truly fascinating if they really got into the whole psychology of it. Every WW2 game has German soldiers as mindless evil minions but they were people who were somehow convinced to do horrible things. Understanding something makes it a lot easier to prevent.
Indead, i would like too see a game weare you get too play a german soliger with a backstory and family and stuff!

I would like to see a game where you would play as an immortal human, living through the whole history of mankind and changing history to your own desires.
Someone please steal this idea.

I'd like to see one set in, uh, a past future or something like that =P

not really the steampunk concept, but more like in the Time Machine movie

you know, the guy travels to the future, there's flying cars and shit, then he goes even further into the future and the world is, like, back to a cool Stone Age

that would be sweet to see

I would like a free roaming RPG set in the ancient Greece. Imagine going to Thebes, Athens, Corinth, Sparta etc. It would be awesome.

I can't think of any game set in the Viking Age, although there probably are.

That could be pretty cool.
There's Viking: Battle for Asgard, but you probably don't want to play it :p

As for me, WWI, if done well, could be absolutely brilliant. I also think we need to have more games set in Russia. At any time period.
