Isn't that like saying that the ending to Seven Samurai(the movie) was awsome?

OT: AKIRA. The manga-version. And by that I mean the entire ending, not just the last pages.
only so much as you just said the end of the comics for Akira rock. ;)

I don't know about most people, since a lot of people like dramatic and sad endings it seems to tragic and dramatic anime. But me personally, there is only one ending to an anime called PreTear that I will never forget.

It's a girlie anime, btw.

In any case, I won't say how it happened, but it literally is the ONLY anime out of the at least 3 or 4 dozen I've watched to completion throughout the years that ended with EVERYONE alive and happy. Even the "bad guy" in that series ends up happy and the entire world is at total peace.

X3 It makes me smile.

Death Note, because it has
Light die at the end, so he can't keep killing people (it had to happen)
but show Misa and Near after that
Near as a private detective, following in L's footsteps. Misa as a Light-following cultist. The manga also shows a shinigami dressed like Light talking to Ryuuk.

How come no one has mentioned Code Geass? The ending in the second season is just absolutely amazing!

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

I would have liked for them to kiss at the train station, but hey, they have to follow the manga. Other than that little nitpick, I loved the ending. I never cried during the entire series, but twice, I was so close to, and this was one of those moments.

Yeah it was the original. I've been deliberating on whether to start brotherhood, but I've got this big load of important exams coming up in a month and a half, so it's probably not a good idea.
Definitely give Brotherhood a go (if watching subbed, there's a change in cast, but it's still very good). As far as you are concerned, yeah, wait a bit 'cos it's 52 eps (unless you marathon that in less than a week). But once you get to a certain point (40 eps in or so), you'll be in a constant state of *glance at time* *oh, one more episode* and I ain't kidding!.
That's pretty much what I was like with the original.

Um, a lot of people give this bad press, but I really liked the end of Wolf's Rain. The ending I hated the most was Fruit's Basket, GAH! >.<

If that's the case, you'll get it even worse for Brotherhood. The story picks up pace (not completely seamless mind, but it does carry roughly six or seven scenes simultaneously and pulls it off admirably) and the action comes thick and fast, and when the final showdown happens, remember to stay seated!

Enjoy/good luck with your exams (whichever comes first... scratch that, both!)

Wait
Light turned into a shinigami? I thought when he died he went into limbo
Anyways, that ending annoyed me because
I was hoping for Light to become a shinigami. Also near being able to guess who was x-kira and how the ending included them lucking out with seeing the x-kira depositing the death note

For me, it's a tie between Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai (it's just so fucking satisfying and wraps up the entire series beautifully), the ORIGINAL FMA (I hate Brotherhood. Too shonen and I seriously believe that FMA shouldn't have a happy ending, but rather a bittersweet one), Cowboy Bebop for obvious reasons, and Neon Genesis Evangelion, once I understood it.

I still will never understand the overpowering love for Brotherhood and its "friendship conquers the day as we punch a god in the face" ending.

Death note, the manga. amazing, so full of irony and pathos, left me a little unhinged for a few days after finishing it. That ending is truly classic.

Were you glad when it ended? Or so refreshed from your sleep that you were struck dumb by the sheer awesomeness of waking up coinciding with it ending?

Oh, FMA:B is 52 episodes? PHEW! I think the Adult Swim showings on saturday are up to about 40 or so, ALMOST THERE!

OT: The only animes I've watched to the end are Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass, so yeah, Code Geass.

All time favorite ending would be Char's Counterattack, and Stardust Memory although the best ending would brobably be Code Geass R2.

I just finished watching Gunslinger Girl. Though the ending was a bit sad, I loved it.

Apparently there is also a second season, but I'm not sure if it's as good as the first.
It's... different. They made the art style closer to the manga (i.e. simpler, though the manga's art was more action orientated), and changed the seiyuu cast. I haven't watched it, and I think I'll live, because I enjoy the manga (depressing though it is, read about Triela's backstory, it is positively gutwrenching).
