Seriously, where does he get off talking about games as if he's somehow the god of game developers? He hasn't made a decent game since Populous 2 and for some damned reason thinks that he's God's gift to gamers.

It seems that all he does since Black and White is complain about other developers and hype his bs mediocre sandboxes as if they are going to change the way people game when in reality they are just the definition of meh.

I dunno. He does have a point. And he does say he can't really be objective about Fable 2 being the important 360 exclusive because he's "the proud father of this game"

Although I don't think Peter's games are anything special, I do think he has a point in regards to the PS3.

Besides MGS4, which has died down a lot now, there have been no real games for the PS3 that give it a solid image. Master Chief and Mario are very recognisable, even to non-gamers now but there's only so far you can get with Solid Snake when the only people who care for the character are MGS fans [I like MGS4, I do own a PS3].

I think Little-Big-Planet may help but I don't see Sackboy becoming the Mario or Sonic of the PS3, I'm not even going to mention Haze [oh wait].

One of the guys I work with has, in the past, suggested starting a website that takes PayPal donations with the goal of saving up and taking out a hit on Molyneux.

I still don't know if he was being serious...

It seems all devs need to shut the hell up this console gen.

But yes, especially Peter Moore needs a gag.

I've never considered Sony having "defining" games. The sole exception would be FF7. They had kick ass libraries in the PS1 and PS2. However none seemed to really define the system as Halo does or the various "Wii Pun" games.

Besides that Molyneux has made some pretty kick ass games. He has an awful memory deficit when it comes to promises, but every game of his I've ever played has been enjoyed immensely. "Maybe Molyneux" is a pretty good moniker, but I don't mind so long as he experiments.

Populous is one of the most bad-ass God-Games ever, you need to play it. . . NOW, or I'll cast Volcano on you.

Oh the fun moments I had making my shaman climb a mountain to assassinate the enemy shaman with a lightning bolt spell.

Fable 2 was up there with my other top seven or so reasons to own a 360. I most likly would of bought one anyway, but the fact remains it was a major factor in my descion to purchase one.

Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is about - Peter does have a habit of talking too much about his creations, but overall I like him.

As for the article, well, it seems true, to be frank, although I'd virtue that Gears of War or Halo are more likely to remain 'the console definers' for the 360, but we'll have to wait and see.

For the PS3, there is a lack of any one or two games that people instantly link with it. Final Fanatasy and Metal Gear Solid, to be sure, but they don't have the wider appeals (although Halo isn't my cup of tea either - TF2 on the PC man myself) to the general game population (as someone already said in this thread).

I don't know much about Little Big Planet, given I lack a PS3, but I admit it looks quirky and interesting and maybe a great game (again, we have to wait and see if it materializes like that).

I don't think Molyneux is as bad as some of the others. Will Wright always kinda scared me, he seemed so disconnected from reality. That's to say nothing of some of the PR guys for the consoles themselves.

Even Miyamoto (Did I spell that right?) a man whose every creation I have played and enjoyed, seemed to get a little "weird" when discussing his vision of the future regarding the Wii.

I think the fact is that real big names, and really creative people in the games industry tend to have to resort to "I'm a lunatic artist"-speech just to be taken seriously.

To clarify, I don't think his point is wrong, I just think he isn't the one to make it cuz he's a douche.

Actually I think that is part of my point... those who played Populous know that it is far better than anything else he has done. He peaked back in the early 90s and has been kissing his own ass since.

Also, Final Fantasy XIII is going to be on the 360 as well, at least outside of Japan. So it might not be as resonant with the PlayStation brand this generation as in previous console cycles.

One of Sony's "problems" is that the games that really helped sell their machines so far have all been third-party: Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy are the series' that really stick out for me when I think of the PlayStation brand.

With games becoming more and more expensive to produce as hardware gets more powerful (and therefore more complicated), fewer developers can afford to stick to a single platform, and for a company like Sony with very little in the way of big-name first- or second-party franchises it's going to hit them harder than Nintendo or even Microsoft.

I don't think it's going to have a huge impact on their business overall, though. Once they drop the price and bring out a handful more must-have titles, gamers like myself (who've been wanting a PS3 for months, but can't justify that expenditure for so few games) will be tipped off the fence.

I do agree with him, everyone knows a 360 and Wii exlusive character, even those who don't care for gaming that much. I'm a hardcore gamer and I can't think of any character that represents the PS3. Resistance is probably the one that sticks out the most (I don't care for MGS) but can anyone who hasn't played the game picture a character in their head? No. Maybe MAG will work if the characters evolve beyond just xerox soldiers like alot of games have now. The PS3 does need a cover man, and sackboy will give people the wrong idea about the PS3
