About a week before Christmas i order a few items off Play.co.uk they all turned up with the exception of Fallout 3 as i was Temporaily out of stock. 2 months later and they are still out of stock so i simply downloaded a copy of the game, justified by the fact that i had paid for a copy therefore entitled to it. Then somone accuses me of piracy which is inexcusable under any circumstance.
What do you think? Am i being a industry killing pirate or honest consumer?

I can understand your reasoning and why you did it and I sy that's fair enough. If you'd already paid for a copy that you didn't have at the time then I feel that's OK. It would be inexcusable, however, if you hadn't already bought a copy. If anyone complains then just tell them you've already paid for a copy (I assume you have some sort of proof of purchase, such as a printable reciept or the credit/debit card statement), and if it doesn't arrive after a while then complain to the website and ask for a refund or for them to make sure it arrives soon. If it continues to be a problem call the consumer advice line, or whatever it's called, and complain about the company to them.

Did they charge you for it? Because if they did, I'd say pirating is slightly justified. Complaining to them would have been smarter though.

Mmm, Valve released a statement about this a few days ago. They said that people who pirate primarily live in regions where they get all the game media at the same time as us and are then told "You can play it... in 6 months... maybe." They're honest consumers who want to play the game when we do. So that's why they opt for simultaneous release for all games.

Back on track, Yes, you're wrong for pirating the game. Yes, you do deserve it. No, pirating is not the answer, canceling the order and going to a store/ buying from Steam is.

yep, piracy is piracy, your not hurting play.co.uk, but bethesda softworks, they no longer get your cut of the money,

is piracy justifiable, is it REALLY killing the industry.. meh, i dunno, if it's a game your gonna download and had no intention of buying then no, sales are not hurt, but in your case you were going to buy fallout and so yeah this would be a drip in the bucket of money lost so to speak.

Legally its wrong since you didnt pay for "that copy/license." But since you aparently have paid Play.com (& they should have paid Bethseda their cut) I dont think id say ur being super evil. How they can still be out of stick I dunno since theres always copies available in shops I been in. U should chase em up over it

When your disk finally does arrive, it will sit on your shelf, because its already installed.

Pappa don't preach, imo.

Probably not. If he likes it, he'll just uninstall the pirtate copy and install the legit copy.

you people are mad, fair dues that you feel you deserve the game but dont punish the devs for it, stop shopping at Play maybe?

While you may argue that you've paid Play hence you deserve it just remember when Crytek and co goes bust from people not buying there games that I fucking called you up on this issue.

The problem with cancelling my order is that i used a email address i then discovered had been deleted for some reason, so couldnt provide the details. When i called them up they said the stock will be coming in soon (cough).
Its cheaper on Play than anyware else on my highstreet and play has free postage, so its cheaper than anyother online store i can find. My net isnt fast enough to download it.
The piarte copy was obtained from a friend who downlaoded it to see if it actaully worked on his rig.

Also since i paid play, the dev will have been paid. The company is not out of pocket, they have exactly same amount of money that they would have got if i hadnt.

ok im confusedat what peoples problems are...

hes paid, yes? so he deserves a copy, pirating the game is not hurting bethesda in any way, they still get the money for him paying for it.

if someone will explain your logic behind it hurting the devs i would like to no...all hes doing is making bethesda think theyre being pirated more and chinging the pirating stats abit.

i see no problem whatsoever and say you are perfectly fine with what u did...just dont go round telling people, they dont like it :p
