Depends on the size of the army. Most armies weren't that big throughout most of history. A hundred guys was a massive force for a long time.Joe Matsuda said:I just really hate games where your a "one man army"
Im sorry, but no single person can single handedly take out an entire army by themselves
except maybe Solid Snake...but hes a super sneaky clone so it doesnt really count...
That said guys like Audie Murphy did pretty much exactly that. Maybe not the entire armed forces of an entire nation, but the majority of an army in an area. You've also got some Russian sniuper guy (the name eludes me) who killed a ton of people at Stalingrad, and one Roman hero who apparently stood in a gate and allegedly killed like two hundred guys since they had to come at him one at a time (again the name eludes me).
Of course people like to try and downplay guys like Audie Murphy and some of the things he did nowadays, but still that's the inspiration for the "unlikely" military guy who goes out and pretty much pwns everything, and does stuff like say jump into a burning tank during a massacre and machine gun a bunch of people from the turret, saving the day, and jumping out right before it explodes... and then does the same exact thing again later on.
It's one of the few things that doesn't especially bother me if it's done right, however I think in many cases it's badly written and overdone.

For gaming stuff I'd never like to hear again... in general there have been many annoying, repetitive things that have bugged me. However none have stuck in my mind long enough to be mentioned here. I will say in general that games REALLY need to work on recording multiple lines of dialogue for acknowlegements and such. I hate turning them off because the acknowlegements let me know that the computer is doing what I want, but at the same time I hate hearing the same thing 30 times in a row, or non-stop as I play.
