I try to get the genders that I feel are right for that species of pokemon.. For example.. I don't really want a female Luxray, but I'll gladly take a female Shinx.

Its just stuff like that. If the pokemon species looks manly, I'll want it to be male.

Yes. Why?

Picture a female Machamp or Mr. Mime. And yes, a female Mr. Mime is possible.
So is a female Geodude. Think about that.. A female Geodude.. Doesn't make sense.

Male because of Gallade, Mothim and Latios
Female because of Miltank, Blissey and Latias.

There are no stat differences but the in-game male slant makes Attract, Captivate and Rivalry massively useful when deciding on genders.

So 50/50 for me.

I try to get both, that way I can breed and get pokemon with certain moves.

Capturing I tend to go with whatever, it doesn't matter, I breed it with Ditto, trading I get female if I can.

The only time I really care is when I have a Male Pokemon that looks like a Female, then I try to get the female version. Also vise-versa, but that's happens a lot less.

I nearly always just blindly catch them without checking if their male or female.

No, it doesn't matter, not even for breeding because I have Ditto.
Then again, I should try to get both genders of every Pokemon in my pokedex because there are some differences.

I think I did back in the original gold...I always had a slight male preference, but I think it was only 'cause of the stat boost.
They actually had stat differences based on sex? hahaha that would be slightly concerning. I imagine that's gone now though
no its not, however its not like its uneven, males get a offensive stat boost, and females get a defensive stat boost.

there are.

OT, well I usually go for male, but when it comes to combee, it gets really anoying when you want the female, so it can evolve, and there are only males.

I prefer to have the female version, simply because it makes it easy to get an egg...

Also its just on a pokemon by pokemon basis for some, like I'd prefer to have a female Dragonair but if I ever evolved it (Heaven forbid) I would want a male one. (Yes I don't evolve my Dragonairs, I don't care if its less powerful...)

Male Nidoran was totally more kickass than female Nidoran, because they learned DOUBLE KICK which would PWN Brock.

I think it's safe to say that I only played R/B/Y

Nowadays I am impartial, but I remember when I was younger if my starter was female I would always restart, I preferred a male starter for some reason...

Pokemon have sexes now?

Well I'll be.
Only for 11 years now.
Pokemon have been out for 11 years?

Well I'll be.
Technically they have been out for 30 years, if you count the original manga printed in the late 70's, which flopped somewhat.

The Red/Blue games came out 14 years ago.

P.S. Yes, Whitney's Miltank kicked my ass with that damned attract.
I believe Male Pokemon are more common than female.

When I got to Whitney I had all male Pokemon without even aiming for it.

It was a battle I had to do many times...
