Pokemon, first gen memories

For some reason I remeber playing blue and me and a friend were trading random pokemon that the other didn't have and I traded my gravler and we both freeked out when it evolved. I know we hadn't checked any faqs at that point and didn't know what the trade eveloutions were heck I can't even recall if we knew that pokemon could evolve by trading. I just know that we geeked out over it.

Ah, Pokemon Blue. The franchise seemed a lot more... coherent then. When I saw the picture of a giant blue turtle with canons sticking out of its back on the cartridge picture, I was already set on which one I'd choose as my starter (to this day, I've still never seen the appeal in Charizard and Venusaur even after playing with them). On my first play through, I made the mistake of using my starter all the way until the end (I got through it just fine, but I missed out on the variety).

Actually, now that I think about it I remember spending a lot of money at the casino. Hell, I even caught and raised a Meowth to lvl 50 just to pay off the loan sharks.

EDIT: I started playing Blue again a few months ago. I found out about a glitch for catching Mew near the beginning and haven't kept the guy out of my party since.

Probably the time when I was trading pokemon with my bro since I got my Haunter and Kadabra to the awesome Gengar and Alakazam! (No I did not like battling my bro since he always kick my ass considering I was the fanboy....).

The Silph co. building. I spent many an hour trying to find the correct warp panels to get to Giovanni. Also having a level 100 Charizard. Good times, good times....

On Pokemon Yellow, Pikachu sucked agaisnt brock, I remember having to find a Mankey, and teaching it KARATE KICK, lol no I think it was karate chop? I cant remember, but anyway it kicked ass.

I recall wasting a Masterball on a zapdos.

Failing to catch Mewtwo

Oh and having one badass level 80 something Pigeot.

(There was always that friend who had every fucking pro thing in the game, every pokemon, all badges, £52349279246, MEWTWO, MEW!?, 65 Master balls, somehow.. Fuck you friend, fuck you)

[sub]I now remember how bad I was at spending my money... I seem to recall blowing all my cash on TM's in Celedon and then not having any cash whatsoever to buy items at the elite four. I really wish I knew about Meowth and Payday back then![/sub]

This thread very nearly brought a tear to my eye, all the memories...

I started on Pokemon Blue, got it on Christmas with my GBA...i was so so hyped.

Named my guy Coolboy. I was a badass.

I remember I was stuck in Cleuran...[that spelling looks wrong but whatever] city, at the bit with the burgled house. I didn't see the hole in the back of the home and I got so stuck. Ended up getting a massively powerful party since I kept on destroying Spearows>:]

I also remember being upset Brock and Misty didn't follow me around; oh the disappointment.

I actually don't remember much about Red/Blue/Yellow.
It's been so long since I've played them.

Gold actually sticks out a bit more for me.

Roughing it with only 2 or 3 good pokemon, trying to look for as many unknown as I could, and then giving up.

Also, that battle with Red.......

I get the same feeling from the first gen games then I do with the current because.... THEY HAVEN'T CHANGED!

But in all seriousness, only good memory's from the first gen pokemon games. I remember I was around 13 and didn't get the game for around 6 months but my cousins got it right away (My birthday was 6 months after it was released and my cousins got it instantly cos there birthday was smack bang on the same day it was released. We kinda didn't receive anything fun except on birthdays and christmas..).

It's good to pull them out every now and then, just for a good flash back to the past... when ignorance was bliss...

I remember wasteing my masterball on a Level 142 Cloyster beside Cinnabar Island, and then it went down to Level 100. Oh and missingno. battles, those were the best. Speaking of glitches, I kept running into a Level 160 Aerodactyl and one hyperbeam would take out my Mewtwo. I spammed the rare candy glitch cuz I didnt know about EVs back then. Now that I do I haven't used a rare candy since.

I didn't realize that it was necessary to build a team the first time I played, so I beat the game using only a Charizard.
By the time I got to the Elite 4, he was in the 80's, and destroyed pretty much everything.
